    The busses that are body over chassis are great for custom builds aswell, I’m using one that’s a ford cargo for a rat rod build

      It's a 1995 model from South Carolina, which is a special needs variant. Those along with the normal 1995 buses were vulnerable to catching on fire. With the vast majority of fires on those buses breaking out in the engine compartment combined with other structural issues, they had no choice but to get rid of them.

    A rear engine bus like that in running condition could sell for some $.

      Send them to South America.
      A lot of Spanish people buy them cheap and make public transportation out of them and I also heard they make good home out of them too

      @James Berends Wow. I've seen some buses from like the 70s or 80s still in service. Feels like a waste unless the mileage was truly worn out.

    • @alexlautzenheiser5024

      1995. The reason South Carolina started to get rid of buses of that model year alongside the ones made in 1996 was they were known to catch fire. The last of those they got rid of was on New Year's Day 2019. They've been mostly replaced with Thomas C2s, though some are replaced with Propane-powered Blue Bird Visions and Blue Bird All American T3REs.

    This looks very time consuming, and very inefficient. Cars and light trucks are are scrapped in the car crusher, but large vehicles, like buses, are torn apart with a claw, until they are reduced to a pile of scrap metal. They really should have a crusher big enough to flatten it, or maybe cube it, like they do with cars and light trucks.
    Like Darlene Heger says, it is very tearjerking. When I was in school, I myself loved riding the school bus, though many of my peers hated it. Tall guys tend to hate riding the school bus due to the lack of enough legroom between the seats. They often have to sit on the aisle, and sit sideways with their legs out in the aisle, which is really against your basic bus safety rules. I understand that the seats are close together to protect small children in the event of accidents or sudden stops, however, I think that seat belts are the answer to that issue. Having seat belts would also help kids develop the "Buckle UP" habit. As far as legroom between the seats goes, I personally think that the legroom should be such that your average high school girl can cross her legs thigh to thigh, without her knee going into the padding of the seat back in front of her. I've known many girls, who absolutely cannot sit comfortably without crossing their legs, or else they get restless.

      But it's the only way to scrap bigger vehicles by tearing them apart. When I was a young guy I worked on a scrapyard. I did it the same way.

    • @tylorevans
      @tylorevans Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah but car crushers aren't made for larger vehicles like buses and larger trucks the crushers are made for small cars and trucks when it comes to large vehicles only way is to rip it apart with an excavator.

    • @ANDREWLEONARDSMITH
      @ANDREWLEONARDSMITH Před rokem +1

      Before ANY vehicle is scrapped It must be made a legal requirement to remove all wheels engines light fittings seating & all other removeable parts which should either be sold for reuse or put into skips & sent for recycling until nothing is left but the empty body which can then be scrapped on any vehicle which has a proper chassie it must be a legal requirement to remove the body from the chassie by non destructive means so it come cleanly away without any unnesscary lifting or movement which should happen if the mounting bolts are cut through with a cutting torch which would eliminate all this cruel & wicked lifting throwing & overturning which should NOT HAPPEN if it is done properly with the chassie Anchored to the ground securly which is basic common sense.

      It makes me very sad, because when I was in school, I personally liked riding the school bus, though many of my peers hated it. My favorite place to sit on the school bus was the "shotgun" seat, which is the front seat on the starboard side, behind the stairwell. That's where you had a good view of the roadway through the starboard windshield, and you could also see all of the things that run the bus.
