      @@IronBornRider yeah I didn’t know too much about the peanut tank or the 48 in general when I bought it. I walked in and fell in love with it. It’s basically my first bike. My tank is white and has the Harley 1 on it. It’s sweet. Only thing I would like to change is my seat to a saddlemen since I’m only 5’5 lol.

    I bought my wife an 883 two years ago, within a year after she got it she was asking for upgrades. I then bought a 1250 cc Hooligan kit, 42 mm Mikuni, aggressive cam set, short shots, 3 inch lowering kit with 10 inch shocks, lowered the front forks 3 inches, I then did a two tone silver flake and Ruby Red candy paint with some lines on it. This little bike cruises effortlessly at 70 mph. I hate to admit it but I love riding this little bike !!!!!

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  Před 2 lety

      I also had an 883 and within that year I had the 1250 kit on it. Was a lot of fun and turned lots of heads

    Sweet looking bike. I want the Roadster 12oo. I definitely miss my iron 883. You make all the points about owning a sportster that I miss. The old school looks and feel and in a classic package. Vintage Harley Davidson made this year (or abouts). They are so easy to mod and work on, they look awesome, they sound incredible, and they actually run pretty darn good for air cooled, 30 year old technology. The sportster is an acquired taste but if you get it, you get it, and nothing else will do.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  Před 2 lety +1

      Very well put. It sort of is an acquired taste that you won’t get anywhere else.

    I wouldn't write off a faring. I put a Memphis Shades Cafe Racer faring on my 48 and my wifes 883. Looks great and it does help at highway speeds. Have fun!. If you want a picture I can send it to you.

    Cartridge inserts for your forks and longer 13" and alot better rear shocks ! Night and day ride difference from stock 👍

    I have a feeling you may like pre-2006 Sportsters (or twin cams) for a "vintage" feel and sound. They were carbureted (vs fuel injected) and emitted that classic "potato potato" sound at idle. Go back even further and you'll discover the essentially computer-less models - very basic mechanically and electronically. Then you'll know real "vintage." Give 'em a try.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  Před rokem

      I think you might be right. I’d love to get my hands on a vintage Harley but I don’t have the mechanical chops to maintain them and care for them. Maybe I’ll start with an older dyna or something

    • @bernardlesperance742
      @bernardlesperance742 Před rokem

      @@IronBornRider Pretty much everyone I know that wrenches on their own bikes is self-taught. And good thing is that the older the bike is, the easier it is to learn on - very basic mechanics and electronics. I'd encourage you to make your next bike an old 'fixer upper' and think of it as a long term project.
