- The L83 makes an excellent engine for a Wrangler - running on regular gas and providing lots of bottom end torque. Combined with the 8 speed 8l90 transmission you'll be hard pressed to find a better value for $ conversion.

Hi I just enjoyed your video on the 5.3 engine. I’m in the market to change my 3.8 v6 in my 2007 jk 4dr. I’m concerned that I will be forced in to giving up my 6 speed manual which I love. I don’t rock crawl but do off road on dirt roads. 4 wheel drive some times in the snow or mud. Can you tell me what direction I should go? A potential cost as well. I live in Oregon as well so if you know a shop to do the work. Thank you for your support…

Can you run a manual transmission on the L83?
The L83 doesn't use a power steering pump since the vehicles it comes in uses electric steering assist, what are you using to add and mount a standard power steering pump? ICT Billet, or your own design?
I saw a FSJ Wagoneer in one of your other videos, did you swap a L83/L86 into it?

This has to cost a pile of $$$. Is there a decent option for engine upgrade $8-10k total? Nice “pie in the sky” upgrades for folks made of money. Nice to watch but that’s about it.
You can swap l83 for less than 10k if you do the work yourself.

Would this work well on my JKU with 3.73 gears and 37 inch tires? I'm currently on 33's, but will upgrade to 35s or maybe 37s soon.
RokGoblin you’ll want 4.56 gears if you run 37s.
@@Dunedain313 with the v6 yes. But not with the v8. Currently running the lt4 with an 8l90 on 37s with factory 4.10s and it doesn't care for the highway too much

@Some of This Some of That rpms are too high 3k+ at 75/80 mph. Ended up putting the 373s back in and it cruises at 2krpm doing 80 on the freeway.

Then you go for the LT1 with 8 speed at Motech you will find many choices that will fit your needs, budget and desires hahaha at Motech the Sky is the limit i did my swap back in March 2019 and still on honeymoon.

Same 3.8L V6 i had... I went with Brand New 6.2L L99/ 6L80 basically a LS3 with VVT Two Door JK on 35" tires and 3.73 gears Adams driveshafts, Camaro SS 8 speed fan cruising 80-85 mph @ 2000 rpm and i love it... love it so much i put close to16k miles since March.
