John Lithgow is a national treasure 💖
I want John Lithgow to hug me like he does Stephen just once in my life😂😂😂
Oh please ...me too ! 😊
My favorite movie line is from Footloose. A parishioner remarks something like do you know how quickly evil can take root, and the reverend says something like as soon as it takes compassion to die.
John Lithgow is a National Treasure
John Lithgow does the best Rudy Giuliani imitation ever! I have never laughso hard as when he did that sometime back!
He's a better Giuliani than Giuliani!
Was that the one with the wine? I had to rewatch it because I was in hysterics!?! 🤣
I was extremely impressed by his Winston Churchill on the Crown. He definitely wasn’t someone that I would think of casting for that role.
I first saw John Lithgow in “World According to Garp.”
I was hooked!
Yeah I'm kinda disappointed we didn't get a Giuliani skit. We need him and Laura Benanti. I was sure she would pop back in after the "stay tuned" comment.
Am rewatching every 3rd Rock. Can’t overstate how good it was - writers and cast. And jokes that would now be disallowed by professional complainers.
I still love him from 3rd Rock 🤣🤣🤣
Me too 🎉
Third Rock was just fabulous. I now feel the need to binge the entire thing 😅
When my son was a tottler in 1990's. We had a VHS tape that got played a ton. John Lithgow playing a guitar, singing to children. I had a rooster, and my rooster pleased me. I fed my rooster by the green apple tree....I know he will never see this post. I just wanted to send a thank you John for the hours of entertainment youve provided.
My daughter was a toddler in the 90’s ! Somehow we missed this I looked it up. Really cute ☺️🙂
Now the theme song is going through my mind… everybody cut foot loose!
Thanks! 😂 😊
Third Rock was the funniest show on TV and Lithgow was instrumental in its success.
great show
The crazy part is things they was saying back then would get canceled today. I loved that show.
Seconded, agreed and decided.
@@ValBellegwada Yup SJW authoritarians are as corrosive to freedom as Reich Wing, fascist MAGAts.
🤬🤮👎
@@ValBellegwada Like what? This was 1 of my favs & it was not even remotely like "Married w/ Children".
I will always remember him as George Henderson, in Harry and the Hendersons. That and the goonies were my favorite movies as a kid.
I want to see an award ceremony for John Lithgow and his lifetime achievements. ♥
Once again, shout out to Harry and the Hendersons which was the first movie I ever saw this man in when I was a kid and I've loved him ever since.
I just watched Footloose again and was noticing how young he looks in it. When I watched it in the theater in 1984 he looked ancient. 😂
Don't you just love perspective and getting older?
@@acubley I love some aspects of it. Weight gain and wrinkles, not so much 😂
He was so good as Winston.terrific performance.
Dont forget Cliffhanger. The way he said "You bastard!" so many times has stuck with me.
What a character John Lithgow is, pick a day any day, and i'd wager he could tell you something interesting that happened to him on it.
Mr Lithgow really has the John Hammond look going on, spared no expense indeed!
But, no hat!😢😊
I've always admired John Lithgow in his lesser roles like Ricochet or Cliffhanger. He makes such a convincingly sinister villain.
All his amazing work, and I'll be darned if I can't shake seeing him as Dr. Emilio Lizardo.
Laugh while you can, monkeyboy!
Buckaroo Banzai in the 5th Dimension reference? I was going to mention that but you beat me to the punch. Good on you.
and now I've got the theme song stuck in my head.
Bravo! Killer flick!
For me he's the psycho in Ricochet.
When I went back to school at 27 I was kinda apalled to find out I was "the old guy".
3rd Rock From the Sun is stil one of the funniest shows ever to hit television.
1:48 my favorite is Bukaroo Bansai - John Bigbooté
Loved it too! What a strange movie that is.
@@tonydagostino6158 not to mention the unforgettable unique music track to that strange movie
where is the reboot of that film I wonder, is it coming after the upcoming continuance of the last star fighter ?
@@Aloha_XERO The '80's hair! czcams.com/video/MF_Ed1pt_WA/video.html
John lithgow is lovely!
Not to mention „Buckaroo Banzai“ and „2010, the year we make contact“!
Love John He's always a great guy and he makes me smile
An interview I’d listen to every day of the week.
Santa Claus: The Movie. This was the film that me and my sisters watched an ungodly amount of times. Panned critically but couldn't care less, he was a great bad guy/foil to the kids/Santa and Dudley Moore. Better than most other Santa movies that came before and after.
That's the kind of anything goes energy I can get behind. Also, Harry and the Hendersons.
Lithgow is one of those people that puts a smile on everyone’s face just by showing up. I don’t know what he’s like as a person, but he seems like he would be great to talk to
The world according to Garp was the first time i saw him.
Yes, as 6'4" cross dresser!!
We love john lithgow
You forgot one - Harry and the Hendersons. ;O)-
Actually a legend.
78! He looks amazing & he’s so quick witted! What’s his secret?!
I love JL so much ! He is a national treasure. I will watch anything he is in.
I want to have conversations with these men❤😂
Love old ppl from 60s and 70s era. So grateful they are around bc a bunch of ppl took off with their things. I'm an old soul.
Like how they did with my things
Lol yeah Provo would definitely kick you out for those types of shenanigans! I can't believe Footloose was filmed there... I wonder if my parents were living there when the movie was filming.....
And the Oscar for best hugger goes to John lithgow
I remember he was such a great serious actor and they said he never could do comedy but he was a hit in third rock from the sun.
I'd L O V E to see a single episode reunion of "3rd Rock". They're almost all still going strong. It would really be a challenge to come up with a creative script
Not mentioning one of my newer favorites?
The Accountant
Quite entertaining 😁
I love when he sings "I am the very model of a Modern Major General."
harry and the hendersons will always exist in my soul. that's latched on for good.
John never gets credit for his stellar performance in Buckaroo Bonsai Across the 8th Dimension. He absolutely stole the show in that one.
Lithgow is one of my fav top ten performers of all time!!!!!
SO MUCH TALENT & GRACE !!!
You forgot to mention Buckaroo Bonzai!!!
John I thought of going back to school when my grandson started school. I’m an artist now retied from Utah.
Third Rock from the sun just turned me into a giggle box. John was grrrreat in it!!! So original. The writing was great too. All the actors were super
Such a genuine, class act. But honestly, every time I see him or hear his voice, I think of Buckaroo Banzai.
John Lithgow is the best actor. He scared me to death in Dexter and has also made me laugh hysterically. He is a great talent.
Home is where you wear your hat! Character is what you are in the dark!
"Where are we going?"
"Planet 10!"
"When?"
"Real soon!"
At _least_ ten times cooler.
He's a legend. He's good in everything he does.
I’m Grateful Dear Lord 🪽 ✨ 🙏🏼🥰 that your John Lithgow, is Still amongst ÜS 🎶☂️🌅🌻✨
Amen 🙏🏼 🌈😊
John Lithgow is a national treasure.
John Lithgow is a legend.
No Colbert Questionert? If I want to know someone that's Mr. Lithgow. He's one of the best actors of his generation. I will not dare affirm outloud he's the best, but...
I was seeing John Lithgow and reading John Lightfoot all the way, until Stephen said it jajajajajajaja
I had a wild pinback button of him! It took about 4 months to sell it,but it sold for $7 but the Lady new someone who knew him so she tipped me a bit more,if I recall. That was less than a year ago. Vegas Rocks!!
Loved many of his movies and other credits, but I really loved Love Is Strange.
Love ya JL 💖💖💖💖💖💖‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
IT WASN'T PROVO, UT! IT WAS PAYSON, UT!!! All the actors keep saying that because Payson was such a small town. I was in Footloose for a split second. It was filmed in my high school, in my home town. Kevin Bacon just visited for the anniversary, yet the actors keep calling it PROVO.
Harry and the Hendersons!! Love that movie!
Wow that was the hug of two truly dear friends not some off and no lean and tap on the back
Great Collaboration ✨✨✨✨💫❤
It’s pronounced BIGBOO-TAY!
You forgot "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai"
The good doctor Emilio Lizardo! LOL
He is also excellent as the villainous mayor of New York City in "Cabrini."
John ✨✨✅
The Alien is forever even living in the 3rd rock from the son!
My favorite early film he ever did, which is now nowhere to be found, was At Play in the Fields of the Lord. A fantastic, deeply cultural, emotional film that examines bias of race, religion, colonization, and is a beautifully filmed work in the Amazon, based on Peter Mathiesen's book, with a stellar cast of fantastic actors.
Third rock from the sun was my favorite show. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks to Thump now I instinctively think any story someone says the person had "tears running down their face" in is a lie lol
Realizing I'm a decade older than the father in Footloose is a rollercoaster of emotions.
Lightgow really glows...
you forgot Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension!!!! Unforgivable
Love John
His villains are the best. On Dexter, Ricochet...
Omg baby, work was so stressful today
I met him once. I was working at The National Theatre in D.C.
He and B.D. Wong were doing "M Butterfly."
He was very nice to me. B.D. Wong was too cool to talk....whatever. 💖.
Wow! Two stories about being naked in a swimming pool in one show. That’s weird. 😂
John is GOAT and is America’s saving grace. I love this man.
cool dude
What an incredible human and actor. John seems like a total sweetheart, yet has played some seriously creepy characters. The creepiest of which has been on Colbert, when he plays the wine monster, AKA Giuliani.
Turns out that Lithgow has a true story about a "big strong man who came up to me with tears in his eyes."
I used to watch third rock from the sun all the time. Such an amazing man, i love him so much, he's up there with Robin Williams in terms of range.
I commented this before he mentioned one of my top ten favorite episodes, the circus!
The original "Footloose" movie with John Lithgow as the uptight preacher is SO much better than the remake!
The legend!
Lithgow AND Kearns-Goodwin in the same night, THAT’S a show!!
dude is 78 years old and still looks the same from like 40 years ago haha
From Buckaroo Banzai to immortality
It's more than confidence. People who sing live on average 20 years longer than people who don't. Studying music improves brain function and math skills. Visual arts improve problem solving skills and attention to detail.
Societies need their artists to develop and express their collective identities and values. That is why, in a fascist coup, artists are among the first to be jailed or killed.
The arts aren't superfluous to education. They are foundational to it.
They are not something to keep children occupied but something to keep people of all ages human.
We are all made in the image of a creative God.
Incoming message from the big giant head John Lithgow you are the best at what you do love cliffhanger great action flick but I always liked you as dick Solomon that was the greatest show on television between you and French Stewart and Jane Curtin what great chemistry I wish you guys would do a special because it's been like what 15-20 years you haven't been on be nice to have a special as you guys come back it would be a hit
This is the only anecdote where I whole believe there truly was: "a big guy, tears streaming down his face"...👏🏻🥲. I 🫶🏻 love John's stories.
❤
YOU DIDN'T MENTION BUCKAROO BANZAI??!
