Thank you! I liked how you went through each faction in the beginning. This adds even more depth to an already rich game! WOTR is not just a board game but an experience. After I play WOTR, I feel I need to go create something and that is what makes it worth it to me. I ended up spray-painted my base WOTR set and now adding the expansions!
I think it would be awesome to have a free people's navy too. The Ships of the Grey Havens, to provide a bit more functionality to bring Elven Warriors from the Grey Havens like the Corsairs do.
Well, in the base game a friend of mine, actually went to battle with the dwarf and norths early on. And i as a shadow player had a difficult time with the amassed troops. The downside of being the shadow player is, yes you can always recruit units. But if you have none left (they are somewhere else on the board) you cannot recruit as well, also if you go to battle, you can only recruit in the settlements you had from the start, So it takes a couple of dice (or cardplay) to move these new armies to your existing ones. So i feel with these new expansions, the shadow player gets a harder time. (also seen every eye die, is not usable for battle)
The core game is extremely balanced on its own. You guys never mentioned how this expansion affects game balance. You did say that the Free Peoples have this and the Shadow player has that, but you didn't elaborate on how "this and that" affects the balance which was inherently designed into the core game. ... To be fair, you did say that the expansion provides the Free Peoples with a better chance militarily, but let's remember that militarily game is only a side show - an alternate victory - to the true victory conditions which are either destroying the ring for the Free Peoples, or corrupting the ring bearers for the Shadow. THAT'S the true game. So I'm interested in how this expansion effects the balance of the true game? Thanks!
Wasn't the only true active way for the shadow to win, was by combat? I am curious if that is still possible now. Seeing that ents and eagles are in play. I am not quite certain if the balance is kept, throughout a lot of plays.
6:16 this is not true. The free people can easily win something back, because the shadow army is always plunging forward. There are a lot of ways for the free people, to get those (only) 4 points.
Ive only seen the movies so im not familiar with all the lore and characters of middle earth but i would really love to see more female characters like arwen
aris d well hate to break it to you but the books are sort of all men, except Eowyn, because of the time it was written. I’m sure when the new Lotr show comes out there will be a bunch of female characters in it.
