- Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into another excellent Fat Files video, this time covering the IRS. The Joker from Batman notoriously comments on why he doesn't mess with the IRS, and I think it's time for a discussion regarding how taxes are handled in the US. I absolutely recommend that you go ahead and check out The Fat Electrician and The Fat Files as well as the original video to show some support for the source material!

The sheer faith you had in the IRS, treating the criminal stealing report document section as a trap before . Finding out the truth, gives me life.
The IRS is a Racket?! Nooooooo....
The fact we pay 200$ for a bill is outrageous and if a politician campaigned by saying he'd make the IRS tell us what we owe them everyone WOULD VOTE, for him specifically.
that doesn't protect you from IRS changes for instance this year I only got 16$ back this year from the feds and my tax person advised me to fill out the form to manually increase how much gets deducted by the feds so that I don't and up owing them money so having a tax professional handle you're taxes definitely has advantages
The fact he threw in the Joker's rant about not being crazy enough to mess with the IRS...simply outstanding. Bravo Zulu, chubby electron guy, Bravo Zulu!
I will forever hate how they just can't tell me what I would owe, and how to send in documents to subtract how much I would owe or how much they owe me.
Just remember that one of the trigger points of the American Revolution was a 3- 5% tax increase in tea and stamps.
Because they refused to give us a seat in government to dictate said taxes. That is basically it . If they would have given us say . Nothing would have happened. NOTHING. END.
It was much worse than that. Imagine paying taxes every tine you sent a message, email, text, etc.
Being European, until now I had heard a lot of people from the US complain about how badly it sucks to file taxes, but nobody had ever actually explained to me how the system works. But now, having heard The Fat Electrician break it down... Damn, I totally get it now, that sounds absolutely asinine.
(For the sake of reference, in my country, at the start of every tax year, the tax administration gives you an estimate of your expected incomes and deductions for that coming year, based on the previous year's earnings and deductions, which determines your tax percentage. You can either accept it as is, if your incomes are likely to stay the same, or adjust as needed.
Then during the year, all your income is taxed at that %, and at the end of the year a tax report is compiled for you. If you overestimated your income, you get tax returns. If you underestimated your income, you have to pay the difference. And all this happens on a handy and easy to use (by the standards of a government website anyway) online portal.)
Poland here. Our tax system is whacked but not som much. At least the gov tells me how much I'm expected to pay if nothing changes at my job. Got 35$ tax refund this year since I started a new job last september. (BTW that was an aproximate conversion from PLN to USD)
Seeing bureaucracies as a kind of living being makes sense. Not sentience, per se, but bureaucracies are well-known for adapting in insane ways to continue their own existence. They will expand, absorb other bureaucracies for nourishment, attack those who threaten its existence, mutate if their original purpose no longer exists....
It's definitely an interesting though experiment.
11:48 Kip in his newest video he has a MP5 tax write off on his couch
One of the most AWESOME tax write off EVER SEEN
I wonder if having his wife in the vids can be a deductible as well? "Pay" her a "modeling" fee and deduct it as staff/consult costs
@@henryvandeventer2457 Probably could & a fine idea

That moment when you realize that Brandon Herrera's gun wall is always changing. And now knowing what TFE does
Brandon Herrera is a genius and so is TFE
Yeah. It's why Demo Ranch will film intros in the safe or have other guns visible on the range.
Brandon did a vid recently with other CZcamsrs that came for a range day (can't remember the channel, but they had Destiny with them), and he showed them around the shop, showed some cool guns etc and he was asked how much he's spent on guns and he answered "upwards of a million dollars".
That's definitely a need to write off those costs 😂
Kip, you haven't realized what just happened! (You're going to have to read the next part in Nick's voice 😉). "Do you see this ginormous gun safe behind me? Yeah, the same safe that I just did a PAID sponsorship for! It's literally "in the scene" of my videos! Yeah, I can write that shit off, too!" 🤣🤣
back when i was living at an apartment, i had 2 neighboors that sold drugs and i ran into them once (at different times and places) and they both asked me "hey you paid your taxes yet? get on that shit bro, get them done asap" my point is, if a criminal is going to get caught, its not because the irs caught them lacking, they learned from al'capones's mistakes.
Fun fact. Very next video he puts a submachinegun, I think an MP5, on that couch...
in france they do send you a bill for how much they think you owe with what they know
and aks if you have any modification to make, it's on the computer nowdays and .. yeah it takes 5-10 mins to check everything and do a couple of write offs
one of the reasons i hesitate to leave
The shotgun in the background of his videos is a Beretta 1301. He has said before on the Unsubscribe podcast that it is his bedside/home defense gun. Solid choice 👌
You don't use the Pythagorean theorem in daily life unless your job demands it, when putting up a ladder you move it around until it feels the most stable.
I've gone my entire life after high school not needing to know anything I learned beyond basic math.
Technically you are required to pay quarterly estimates if you are self-employed, they don't come after you each quarter if you don't, they just add penalties and interest which accrue until you pay.
I think the old saying goes, "The only things certain in life are death & taxes." or some variant of that.
Another channel Old Man Reacts, well the guy said he had a hard tax season when watching this video. Nic talks about his tax write off couch. Old Man looks back to his shelf in the background, turns to the camera and yells "Thank You Sempai!"
The Shotgun looks like Mossberg 590 Retrograde, I ave one myself. Pretty good piece.

You as a taxpayer can make modifications to your 2023 taxes in 2024, up until April 15th. If you contribute to an IRA (for example), you can choose whether your contribution is a 2023 or 2024 contribution. That still doesn't make tax code changes for 2023 after 2023-12-31 _fair_ but there are some equivalents.
Lottery scratch off loss can be written off
Time for the foil hats again.
Technically the IRS doesn’t have the power to collect taxes because it’s part of the executive branch and not the legislative branch
Just like "technically" if you don't pay your taxes they will make the executive decision to put your ass in prison. The government doesn't run on technicalities, it runs on corruption and bureaucracy, which are the same word spelled different.
article 1, section 8, clause 8 and the 16th amendment, yep. also doesn't that mean they commit tax fraud yearly?
Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!
yes so glad you reacted to this video Kip
I can’t recall ever doing a tax return in the Navy, I just got a tax return every year. Also, I was being paid about $3.44 an hour.
I think I watched a video at some point that explained, that if the IRS reported the criminally obtained income to the feds, it would be self-incrimination, so it would be unconstitutional and against the fifth amendment for the IRS to force you to report your income from criminal activities. But because they don't report it forward, they can force you to report it, and penalize you if you fail to report your income from criminal activities. And I suspect at least part of the reason the IRS doesn't tell you how much you owe is, that then criminals could say, that they just paid what they were told, and they were not told to pay taxes for the profits from their criminal activities. The current system is better because you get to tax criminally obtained income, and if criminals don't pay, they get arrested for tax evasion, at least if IRS gets to know they have criminal income.
I don't remember what the source for this was, though.
23:57 If you have enough spare cash - you can donate, what you owe for [year X] - to a, or several, registered charity/ies, and get a tax write off for that/those donation/s: and pay 0 taxes. It's all legal, above board. So you can control where the money goes which *would* be paid in taxes: but you still lose that money. You're just paying that money to charity/ies rather than to the federal government. Also: *tax evasion* - not criminal activities - is what has jailed a lot of syndicate bosses. Famously: Al Capone. He wasn't jailed for murder, bootlegging, extortion, prostitution or racketeering - nope, tax evasion for not paying the money earned *from* his criminal activities.
This is just another reason why I don’t trust absurdly large government agencies. Everything is so screwed up half the time.
There's actually a rather fascinating economics subject regarding spending that's relevant here.
There's 4 groups of spending.
You spending your own money.
You spending someone else's money.
Someone else spending your own money.
Someone else spending someone else's money.
It's harder for you to buy a $70 steak dinner with your own money in comparison to someone else dropping that same exact money using someone else's money. Coming across this really put into perspective why there's things that don't ever get done and run into fiscal issues.
It is only a problem to not file if you owe them.
If they owe you, they will happily keep it.
It is ALWAYS illegal to not pay your taxes, if owed. It is not always illegal to not file.
The IRS reporting your self reported crimes to the feds would be a violation of constitutional rights. Forcing you to self incriminate.
I'm pretty sure that shotgun is a Mosberg 590 retrograde. retro "trench sweeper"
I'm all for making things simpler here (without violating rights of course). Just becauese you run a business. It doesn't mean things have to be complex. Owning your on business is already it's own challenge. If there is a way to file your taxes and be done sooner/simpler. I don't see the problem.
Love his take on bureaucracy. Never thought of it as a giant and organic AI before. It works well. Though I'd say it's more cyborg. Since it's a combination of digital and organic systems.
The government does not care what happens to you or how it happens to you. You are only a atm to them.
18:35 I think these regulations are there to have people who are currently (current tax year) being involved in criminal or even civil court cases pay up for any exposed illegal activities/gains a tax for or rather against criminals, which with the state of the USA justice system is mostly another tax on the poor.
can you put in a freedom of information request to the IRL on what they believe you owe them?
It also doesn't help that their computer infrastructure and reporting systems are generally decades old at best
Someone once pointed out that the reason Microsoft gets so much slack and isn't called to the Blue Ribbon Committee as much as Facebook and other tech companies is because they maintain a specific version of windows 7 that isn't available for.public use and is upgraded up to this day.
So they got a lot of friends in very high places.
Can just say, You don't have to file. I make no claimable income, And have nothing to Report, So the Irs said I don't have to file.
you are not the first person to think this and the answer to this is no you still have to pay taxes as it's assumed that there is no way you can go a whole year with out some form of income.
Not financial advice but if enough people in America decide to not pay their taxes. The government would just go defunct and can’t do anything about it. But I ain’t taking that risk.

Is the IRS the most liberal and anti-liberal agency in the federal government?
The IRS does know what you owe but they don't know what deductions you take. It is may be too much work for them to try and calculate everything for everyone or even sending documents back and forth.
Also, I don't think the IRS knows about cash only or illegal ways people make money. Unless you buy something big like a house or car then they are probably curious how you got that. Edited, I don't know if this is true for everyone's else case. every time I overpaid the IRS I was just given a tax refund.
The standard deduction is the same for everyone so unless you have itemized deductions above the stamdard, which as he said could be as simple as a checkbox on yes or no, they could send you what you owe based on legal income. They shouldn't be taxing illegal income, people should be getting arrested for it.
@@joshuawillingham6363 I never fully understood taxes as I just usually fill out the same other deductions I qualify for every year. The IRS doesn't know (or maybe they do and don't care) about illegal cash business they see it as any other business. If you say sell weed and it's illegal where you are the Government wants to know about it same for say sex workers. It's how Al Capone got caught mainly.
The shotgun looks like a modern 870
It's a beretta 1301, he's talked about it before.
@@noodles7157 been wanting one
It's only a problem if you owe. I file my Federal taxes every year because, y'know, I get a sizeable refund. So it's cool? State? I get like, a couple bucks. Thanks, y'all can keep that, I'll keep the $40 that my tax company wants for filing the return.
Looks like mossberg maverick 88
Is that a 590a1 retrograde?
Devils advocate: the US has quite a few credits that aren't automatically accounted for, yes the IRS has your W2, but if they send you a letter saying how much you owe, most people might look at it say "yup that was my income" and forget to check for eligible credits. also saying that only 13% of the population would need to customize their return is a tad misleading, you also need to factor households (or lack their of) the IRS doesn't necessarily know who you're claiming as a dependent, so you'd have to file that manually at least once, and redo every time you gain/lose a dependent. you also need to factor in married couples who file separately.
all that being said, it would still be a net benefit to have the IRS automate this shit.
Side note, I've heard that the reason you have to report crime income is so that they can add another charge in case other charges don't stick, like didn't the US get a mob boss on tax evasion or something?
Al Capone.
While filing your taxes, feel free to self-report to save money on your taxes.
how does one yap an additional 18 minutes from a 10 minute video, yt needs a 4x playback option
Why do people expect the original video and nothing else from react content? Just watch the original video, it's not that hard.
@@KipReacts well fucking pardon me Andy fucking autism for wanting to fucking see people watch shit I've already seen, sometimes to .my own fucking detriment, like when I showed my own uncle the russianbadger lethal company video and he just says that badgers broke at some point, like ? or when I started showing him martincitopants and he says that he remembers his old cod videos like ????????

Hardest thing I learned to do was care about paperwork. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS.
The reason the IRS does it the way they do is because people living paycheck to paycheck wouldn't have the money to just pay a large tax bill. So, they take their cut up front, and (if you don't owe) then you basically send the IRS a bill for the difference.
