@@joshualieberman7558 Nothing negative can happen. They would just have to play under lights in the afternoon. For a period the game would just look like a night game, before it turns back into a day game again. At most, they would have to hand out some eye protection upon entry so everyone can look at the eclipse.
@bobhawke7373 Bro are you clueless? Dude you can lose your eye vision permanently from seeing a solar eclipse. The sun in an eclipse burns the retina in your eye. It's dangerous for fans and players at the game. Everyone is at risk of losing their sight and anything can happen just by looking up at the sky for players and fans. That game will be canceled for night. I remember the last Solar Eclipse
@@Melbester9 Just hand out the $1 glasses at the gate. When the eclipse is about to occur. Make a safety announcement. You know that just looking at the normal sun on any given day, comes with pretty much the same advice and consequences from medical experts that you are using for your argument.
This happened back in 2017 (kind of). It wasn't during the home opener, but the SK Volcanoes were in the middle of a game against the Hillsboro Flops when the solar eclipse happened that year.
Progressive Field (Cleveland) faces North, with the eclipse facing SW, many of the fans won't be able to witness the eclipse as they will be looking north. Only those in backfield will have a chance to witness it.
Sir, you are another Bill Veeck. :-) That would be so perfect to have the eclipse happening during the game. When you get down you need to write these ideas out and create a fictional work, maybe an alternate history with baseball and stuff like I did as Print on Demand works. You really are good at communicating.
Wow, interesting…I think MLB would want to take advantage of this and just pause the game for the eclipse, especially if its over within 5 minutes or so. What about Cincinnati, the Reds have a home game that day too…
Before and after totality is extremely dangerous for those not wearing proper eye protection. I don't think the players can play with those glasses they would need
I have seen exactly what you want in a minor league game in 2017 when the Columbia Fireflies hosted a Class A game that had a solar eclipse in the middle of the game. Perhaps not completely what you wanted as they stopped the game about 5 minutes before totality and resumed it about 5 minutes afterwards, so they didn't need the lights (and also let the players check it out instead of playing). Interestingly enough current Guardians 2nd baseman Andres Gimenez got a walk-off hit that game, perhaps the Guardians should ask him if he would like to do it again.
I saw the 2017 eclipse and live in Cleveland. There is a MAJOR problem with your logic. Half of the stadium does have a view of the sun at that moment. Those fans will have to move to where they can see the eclipse.
MLB should absolutely capitalize on this and start the game at 2:10. How many clicks would this get til the end of time being the only one to at least my knowledge in recent history? Money maker
The MLB is missing a massive opportunity. Footage of the eclipse at an MLB game would go worldwide
Would be a PR disaster literally anything negative happened because they would be blamed even if it wasn’t their fault.

If I was the Cleveland Guardians I would be making merch related to the event.
They need to have the eclipse glasses as a handout.
It'll rain, given how Cleveland's luck runs...
Except for that one Sunday in June of 2016. I assume people know what I'm talking about.

They should give out those glasses for everyone to watch it while the game is going on and just make it "the eclipse game"

The Mets' home opener vs the Phillies on Mar.31,1998 was 86 degrees.
That will be on my birthday.
Bob Manfred always doing things against our wishes
An total eclipse game would be sick....hopefully Cleveland plays during it....
Why not just pause the game for a few minutes during the eclipse and then play on?

MLB the show 24 making an Eclipse Program with special cards 🤯

Cincinnati won't be in totality. It might get a little dim there, but it won't be dark like in Cleveland.
Imagine launching a homer during the total eclipse
I hope theres no clouds nor rain. Also the white sox have the guardians what are the odds that my team is the away team.
I spoke too soon. Fox weather has CLOUDS predicted for CLEVELAND 😢
A lot of people going to fuck their vision up staring into the sun after it passes
Before and after totality is extremely dangerous for those not wearing proper eye protection. I don't think the players can play with those glasses they would need
Gosh they can stop the game for 20 minutes and let it pass. Its not that hard.
@@scotttild not just twenty minutes. An hour either side of totality.
EDT = Eastern Daylight Time.

That would be wild
If they have the game during the eclipse, you should go and do a live youtube video. Or at least upload one later on.
Crazy dude
Bad news it will be cloudy for the rust belt. Only texas, oklahoma, and arkansas will have the best view
The lights should come on making it very

MLB does not know how to market anything but its glam teams Cubs, Dodgers or Yankees.
The lights will be on even for a day game so the eclipse would have no interference with the game.
CMON MLB. MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION
By the year 2444 we'll have multiple twin towers across the world
All that’s missing is a rendering of the event.
MLB should absolutely capitalize on this and start the game at 2:10. How many clicks would this get til the end of time being the only one to at least my knowledge in recent history? Money maker
Cant anymore. Its going to be cloudy april 8 according to fox weather
Cleveland will not have another till 2444. I have to say lucky Paducah KY got to see 2 in 7 years time
finally a reason to go to a baseball game
Once in a life time, why would they play baseball. Lets enjoy the eclipse first
Don't play through it-- just stop the game for a few moments?
bro changed the profile picture :(
313 Detroit area code
The game was moved back so ppl can enjoy it we the ppl of Cleveland need not to apologize!
eclipses aren't pitch black
You can’t play through. Fly balls will be a bitch
I will do 1 situp for every like this comment gets
I will upload it on my channel
