On a trip to London with his daughter (Yvette Curtis) for some dirt-bike races, Dr. Matt Younger (Sidney Poitier) meets beautiful dignitary Catherine Oswandu (Esther Anderson) and quickly falls for her. But something is amiss -- strange men seem to be following her wherever she goes, and Younger assumes she's at the center of some political intrigue. His heart sinks when he learns that she has sickle cell anemia, and the men are watchdogs in the employ of her anxious father (Earl Cameron).

I saw this movie as a 6 or 7 year old kid with my parents at the drive in cinema in the late 1978 or 1979 ( Late 70's ). I had a crush on that actress ( my first crush )😀 . For years i had snippets scenes of this movie stuck in my head. 45 Years later, i discovered this movie again but have not watched it yet, only snippets of it. Waiting for a time when i can sit, watch and enjoy this amazing movie.

This is a beautiful movie! A real tear- jerker, but I’m glad that it helped to raise awareness about sickle cell disease. Apparently people with the disease have a much longer life expectancy now than then. RIP Sidney Poitier. I loved him in so many good movies, Guess WHO’s Coming to Dinner, The Heat of the Night, Patches of Blue, Raisins in the Sun and Lillies of the Valley.

I remember watching this movie at the Drive In in the later late 70's. I was 7 or 8 years old and had a crush on this Beauty. That movie stayed with me for years and only discovered what it was called 3 years ago. I still have not watched the full movie yet since then.
