Now the Browns this season are playing as if they‘re the Mariners. Their fans are celebrating actually going 2-4-1 so far: two losses went to OT. The fans are eternally hopeful like M’s fans when M’s are actually in the playoff chase (no matter how early in the season), but Browns fans will face heartache yet again.
The question is who goes to the playoffs first? M’s have longest drought of the four major sports, Browns are second longest.

That wasn't just losing the game right away. That was QUITTING.
It’s fun to watch but is a really great lesson- never forget the fundamentals. Communication, eyes on the ball, be familiar with the hops. Baseball is the beautiful sport where defense will save a perfect game, a no hitter, and can also turn a great outing into an awful one for a pitcher.

@@angc214 The thing about the WC game was that the umpire judged Kozma could have made the catch with ordinary effort when he began waving other fielders off. IN this play it is less clear that any fielder established a position which the catch could be made with ordinary effort. Having said that, the infield fly could have been called here as well. Purely umpire judgment.

How was both errors attributed to Segura on that last play? His throw home was directly on line, just bounced, but I feel like most catchers would be able to catch the ball there (maybe not necessarily make the tag in time because it was such a close play, but the throw didn't seem that errant, especially considering Segura just spun around and threw from shallow left)
Same as how a bad throw in the dirt to a first baseman is a throwing error. And it is far more difficult to scoop a throw like that with a catchers mitt than a first base glove.

I believe so.
It depends. If a runner advances from say 1st to 2nd because of an error, and the next batter gets a single scoring that runner, that run would be UNEARNED. However, if another batter also singles, that unearned run would be changed to an EARNED run because the runner would have scored regardless of the error.
If a runner REACHES BASE on an error (on play in which he would otherwise be out) and scores, his run will always be UNEARNED run. Also, any run that scores after 3 outs that SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE are considered UNEARNED.
So in this clip, when Segura drops the relay and the runner scores, that would be an unearned run. If the next guy homers it would be changed to an earned run because he would have scored anyway.
That's why ERA is meaningless to Cy Young voters

Gave up 2 ERs and losing 6-1 after the first lol. Albers gave up 3 ERs and the Yankees scored 7 times while he was in the game. That's gotta be some kind of record.
