  • Which TVs should you avoid? In this video I help you skip the TVs that aren't great deals with a price to performance ratio, although this was made for Black Friday the mindset will still apply to most deals and for the most part I still think the TVs I mention to avoid should still be avoided. Any buying questions don't hesitate to ask!

TCL makes some great TV's. I recently picked up the TCL QLED 65" 65S55 about 2 months ago and it's fantastic. Good enough that I picked up the 75" version for our living room. But then I decided I wanted to get back into console gaming, so I ended up picking up an LG C2 so I have all of the fancy gaming features. But to be 100% honest, it's not really that big of a difference than the TCL's I have. Sure, the OLED panel looks better, no doubt about it. But it's not as night and day of a difference as I was expecting, and the extra brightness of the QLED makes it a better choice for our bright living room. Considering the price difference, I think the TCL's I have are fantastic. Not a single issue with all 3 TV's, they all work great.

@Sawyer C. Thank you so much for this detailed response, I really do appreciate it! I've done a little adjustingn and the picture does look amazing. I played a couple of the LG OLED test videos yesterday and was blown away. I like the remote, I like WebOS, I actually like everything about it. My one and only real gripe I'm trying to overcome is squeezing just a bit more brightness out of it when I'm playing Xbox series x. I was playing MotoGP 22 last night and there were certain parts of the track that I had a hard time seeing that were covered in clouds. I ended up switching out game optimizer mode and going into Vivid, and then it was plenty bright enough then. I've been playing around with OLED pixel brightness, contrast and stuff like that. It's my one and only gripe, and only last night did it really actually bother me, it's been plenty bright enough in all other situations. Maybe I'll try disabling Dolby Vision on the series x today since that game uses DV, perhaps regular HDR will be a bit brighter. I was considering the s95b because of the added brightness, but all of the horror stories of bent panels and faulty panels have kept me away from that qd OLED offering. Tizen OS looks like a hot mess too.
If you have any tips to squeeze just a bit more brightness out of it while gaming, I'd really appreciate it. It's an awesome TV, and I got it at a great price right before Black Friday, $1,699 for the 65".

It also very much depends on your circumstances . I have just bought a TV - a Samsung. Many reviews said it was expensive compared to other TVs, so I was looking at a similar spec Philips (a European brand) which on paper was a much better TV. However on looking at the detail there was no apps we use regularly or ability to download it (unless you use up a HDMI port for a fire stick). Which for us made the better spec TV almost useless. Luckily we got the TV down in price but don't assume a better spec is necessarily better if a key element is missing.

They are also the ones that we and I always see being returned months or even 1 year after, some wanting to get warrantee from the store. On which some are rejected after it being to long. Also should I sacrifice ambilight for a better tv (samsung qled looks better, but on internet) nits and motion are quite important, I don't game but this was the main flaw of my cheap TCL (BIG MISTAKE 55" is so enormous and the VA panel was terrible) ✌️
Because Philips seems to have no in between it's either 500$ or jumping to 1000$ (oled)
Since there are so many refs in LED panels I'm a little lost
Thanks you if you read this comment, and dont elaborate it's work typing a lot just need a ref or a link who comes to your mind ;)

Can I ask for your recommendations based off what I'm looking for. I need an 85" inch TV..my budget is around $2,000.
I don't see the TCL 6 series available anywhere, in fact I've been looking since August and the TCL 6 series in 85" was never available as I checked best buy more than regularly.
I see the Sony x90K is now $2300 instead of $1999.
I was considering the hisense U8H but they don't make it in 85".
It has to be 85" for the theater room in my new house but I cannot spend $3-5k.
    Thank you!

If it was me. Right now with a $2K budget I'd go with the LG QNED 86" MiniLED. Right now $1999.99 at Best Buy. Not a fan of TCL/Hisense for reliability.

I do not recommend the Hisense U8H it is full of bugs and dolby vision is flawed with issues on netflix , hbo max and other streaming service is very poor quality.
