i was gifted a yuzu tree for fathers day a couple years back, it was two years old when i got it and fruited around 8 pieces after the first 8 months. i was a little concerned that a weed had take over or infested as the normal tree is dark brown (loooking like tree bark) and the new growths are bright green with giant thorns.
after seeing this video im no longer concerned about a weed and looking forward to a now thicker tree growing (as a chef, yuzu has been heavily used in my food for years and cant wait to get more from my tree)

Great review; Since I live in a cold climate zone 7B; these are the only citrus that survive outside.

If you saved the seeds from the yuzu fruit and planted them, do you think the resultant saplings would make good rootstock for grafting other citrus species and varieties onto?

No u r better of with a flying dragon ,Trifoliata or some of the other rootstock that are dwarf. And disease resistant.

I just planted seeds from my Yuzu tree 4 days ago. I am curious to see how they will grow.

@@SD._ You'd be better off obtaining one raised by vegetative means, e.g. grafted or from a mature rooted cutting. You'll have a long, long wait if growing from seed. The seedling would have to reach a considerable height and become mature before it could flower and fruit. Growing from seed gives some genetic variability: the characteristics of the seedling may not be always true to that of the parent. You may, or may not, notice the difference: the seedling may bear fruit that tastes more or less like a yuzu. If the parent yuzu was pollinated by a nearby citrus of a different species (for argument's sake, say, a pomelo), then the seedling would likely be quite different than a yuzu: more like a yuzu-pomelo hybrid. If you want to start a new citrus variety, then seed is the way to go. But, it is a waiting game............
