- For some reason the #welding section of apps like TikTok are EXTREMELY popular! Having been exclusively on CZcams for many years now, we decided to take some time to branch out to see what kinds of content we can find on other video services. From the hilarious to the ludicrous we scraped the internet to find some amazing clips to put in front of 2 real life welders to gauge their honest thoughts and reactions.
We had a lot of fun doing this and have already filmed quite a few other reactions to viral videos and would love to keep doing this if this is something you find entertaining or even educational! Let us know in the comments below!
Thanks for watching!

The aluminum foil plugging the new guy in. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
I was in a weldingclass with lots of young guys, so i pulled a little prank on one of them. I replaced the tungsten in his tighandle with a piece of stainless wire. He tried to weld and ”poff” the stainless wire was gone. He took it out, sharpened it, put it back. And ”poff”…. This repeated a few times until I laughed so hard he heard me…
Hey no shit! I welded at Electric Boat just downstream from the base in the late '70's. Another reason I love this channel... Thankx..
That high budget baller logo coffee cup tho...
LOLZ
The lack of contamination from the wood you mention at 12:35 might still be there in the form of some extra carbon in the weld.
Then again the flux probably takes in most of the contamination anyway.
One thing that's also notable is due to the wood burning it probably takes away most of if not all the oxygen so it might even be a good environment.
I have put ductape between the ground clamp and the work when the new guys weren't looking often enough.
Welder here, no trol🤣
I wonder if you could actually measure impurities in the weld or if it only contaminates the flux. If there is any contamination happening it would be nice to see it tested with a ceramic or concrete brick.
@@mick2935yes you can do metallurgic analysis on the weld material to check the composition.
Further more X-ray and/or ultrasonic inspection can be done to check for things like inclusions.
I liked this video! Just found your channel, and I'm new to welding. I have been having a hard time finding info on shipyard welding. Steve, I appreciate the bit of insight. Keep em coming!
Great video I’ve been waiting all week for this and not disappointed made me laugh Thankyou 👍👍keep up the great work
Great video today Tay and the gang. 😂😂😂 so funny. Can't wait to see more videos soon boys. Can not wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends fab On. Weld on. Keep making. God bless.
LMAO, Some really funny things going on here
Can’t believe you only have 11.5 thousand subs, I think your channel is excellent, there’s something for everyone, something different every time.
Big big 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Give him time. He's really only getting off of the ground. For reference, you made this comment about 11.5k subs two weeks ago and now he has 16.7k. Hell, he might have 20k by the time you see this.
Yeah do the video of trying those. Great video super funny.
Always fun 👍! Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!!!
That’s some funny shit, even a year later. I’ve opened some piping systems where they used all-thread to “Fill” the gap. Prank wise, I’ve seen guys adjust the amperage while someone was welding. We did used to screw around with others vehicles back in the day. Large zip tie on the drive shaft, rocks in the hub caps (Ford Econoline dish hubcaps), anti-seize in the inside of the door handle, even a re-wire of the horn tied to the brake pedal.
Love your Videos, Thanks. P.S. ScoMo (Scott Morrison) is no longer Australias PM.
The crusty covering is called slag. Can’t believe you didn’t know this. Really 👍🏻
I laughed so much thank you for this video. Me working on a fishing ship as chief engineer I have never been able to make beautiful welds but they did hold the 10 of tons that they needed too. Try to weld on a ship rolling in middle of Atlantic ocean in middle of a storm and ocean sea raining over you. I can tell you NOT FUN but doable.
You said “the” tik toks. Kinda like my dad says “the facebooks”. Welcome to old age 😂 (I do it too)
As a fitter at a shipyard, our standard joke would be leave to the welders to fix. It is frowned upon. If you left a inch and a quarter gap weld the welder would hunt you down and cuss you out, then tell your boss. A good fitter takes pride in his fit up.
The 1.25 gap would never pass a bend test. Good gap fill, but never pass an x ray test. Also never filmed him doing the overhead gap fill.
Try the stick welding wood trick on your channel! Make an entire show of welding hacks!!
Thanks to teach me because i try to be a welder when i go to a college
Hahaha I'm a pipe line welder and I have bought alot of exotic animals with welder money 😅
Along with Professional coffee makers…
So the block of wood trick is probably 7024 it's just a high deposit rod for big fillets and stuff
Hi John, this is called "firecracker welding" in my region. I used to show it to the new guys all the time. I learned it from the old timers about 50 years ago. I also used to turn off the acetylene during a flame cut and amaze the newbies when the cut preceded normally. Yes, 7024 is best for firecracker welding. the wood covering is not needed but the quality of weld appears better with it.
Good video, your out of shirts!! Lol im sure your well aware, can you add 2xl to your sizes? I didnt see it in the options? Ive gained a little weight the past 2 years :( sad face. Thanks for the vids! This is the first time ive seem that stick welding wood trick. Maybe the wood didnt contaminate the weld bc the fire was consuming oxygen? Idk just my thoughts. Pretty cool. Im a fitter and welder, now machinist at a structual steel fab company and the fitters for the most part are more worried about getting the columns/beams built quickly then they are with where the tacks are, Or how they look. I would love to have steve teach me to tig weld, i mean i can stick to peices of metal together with tig but its not going to look pretty. Unless i turn on the pulse setting lol. Id like to work with both of you for a few months i would learn so much. I dont care how much you think you know theres alway more to learn. And i have plenty of room to grow. That poor prime minsiter lol. Flash burn suuucks. Gotta try that aluminum foil trick :) edit: i legit wrote about (theres always more to learn) before the end of the video when you guys said the same thing lol. I was like AAAHHH No way!!! I just said that!!! You guys are awesome!
I think your welds look alright
Where can I get that panda with the SAW sticker?

A professional welder not knowing what flux is?
I was shown how to do stick welding ONCE and I knew he was trolling about the "rust". How could any accomplished welder think he was serious?
