I served as a security guard in camp Liberty West VBC -Iraq and I look forward to getting a burn pit compensation. I have no hope of regaining my normal vision and hearing. Thank you for the information you are giving veterans. If a veteran is nearing retirement age and is designated as TDIU P&T. If he has surgery that would improve his condition(s), would he be reevaluated by the VA and possibly lose his TDIU P&T designation?
40% relates to $812 a month, because I added a spouse to my claim ..about $74 more oer month. This is a god send when bills matter . You could add children also if necessary to do so.
I'm also at 40%. Still fighting for 100%

I would at least get your medical paperwork and send it up to the va and request an increase. If they deny it, request a higher review and check the box that says speak to the supervisor rater.
If one gets TDIU, is it easier to get SSDI?
My husband is a 80percent disability and 100 percent with unemployabilty for 20 yrs now they are combined nuerolgicical and secondary after brainstem surgury and the va keeps telling him 100 percent unemployabilty he doesn't need to apply for 100 percent yes he does it has been total permanent disability and the benefits are not exactly the same with those ratings and they also dont have to worry about loosing the other half of his pay. He was just granted a 50 percent through the navy for combination of conditions after a review of records 20 yrs after he was medically retired still waiting to see what we need to do about retired pay and an increase
I have developed Gynecomastia in service but did not address it until I became a Vet and the VA performed 2 surgeries which left me with scaring around my areola, Left and Right. Do I have a case for a Claim?
Is it in your Military medical record? To have a case you’d have to have been to a Dr while in service or have it mentioned on your outgoing physical. As far as the VA is concerned you could have done AAS Androgenic steroids once you got out of the Military. It will be hard to prove otherwise.
In a TDIU claim, what if a veteran is unable to get a va 21-4192?

had a C&P exam which I will just say, agreed with the diagnosis.
Is that enough without the va 21-4192?
Yes. They will process the claim without the 4192.
I have a question for everyone. If someone has a successful VA Tinnitus claim and is awarded the 10%. How do you add or combine additional clams to that original successful claim ? Such as hearing loss or migraines or whatever. Will they be separate claims? or different ones ? Is it better to combine or not ?
I’m new to all this information but based on what I have seen and read you will have to file a secondary claim. For example: Migraines secondary to Tinnitus
If you claim new items they will reopen your original claim and unless it’s got the 5 year or even better the 20 year rule or you are over 55, the VA can and probably will lose it. I’m 40% left and 60% Deaf in Rt ear and have hearing Aids in both ears. I get O% for hearing loss. I do get 10% Tinnitus but now it’s a secondary condition and must be connected to primary hearing loss or the new claims cannot get Tinnitus. Careful on opening claims on things that can ge opened and claims reduced.
Go with a secondary claim. Insomnia, depression... could go towards unemployability
i was rated 70% because i was capable of taking care of myself and maintaing bills. ie showering and managing my budget and keeping track of my appointments.

I have 10% Tinnitus. VA just recently gave me hearing aids. Can I get an additional percentage for having to wear hearing aids?
Unfortunately I want to say no, but you shouldn't be issued hearing aids for tinnitus. It should be for hearing problems. Thats strange. But if you get headaches/migraines you need to file it secondary to tinnitus and get a buddy letter from a spouse, family member or close friend who has witnessed your headaches. Migraines are a high value claim. 50 is not uncommon.
Quick question. I’m on meds for bipolar disorder and since I’ve been taking medication I’ve had migraines that cause me to miss work. Is there anything I can do for this?? Thanks in advance
Get the VA to diagnose you with migraines as a secondary to bipolar. It’s a challenge, but I recommend you research the meds you’re taking, complain about the side effects and always use myhealthevet to have a written record. VA doctors are too scared to diagnose you as they’re afraid it will be used against their career.
Frequency, Severity, & Duration is key when writing to the VA about it. Always remember that documentation beats conversation

What happens when your records were in a fire because I know Denver carries the main load of the records and they had a fire and my records are gone as far as me going to Sick call
So, I served 7yrs in the Army. During that time, I probably only went to sick call two or maybe three times. I now have issues that my Dr. has told me are a result of injuries I sustained during my service years but being a young hard core soldier who was taught to "suck it up and drive on" I never wanted to be on the "sick-lame-or-lazy" list. What are my options?
Get your dr to write a nexus
@@johnnelson3361 what type of injuries did you sustain? What I would do, is if you could get a buddy letter from a friend who served with you or witnessed your incident and also get medical evidence from your privatw dr and see if that dr can write a letter saying yes you have this injury and yes he beliwves it occured during the incident you went through in the army. So file a new claim for that injury with the buddy letter, drs nexis letter and medical evidence.
It doesn’t matter if you thought you could suck it up , you should have gone to sick call every time you hurt . I know that you’ve heard over and over again that you’re supposed to “get it in writing” ; So due to lack of that you’re going to most likely do some major work to prove that your injuries are service connected .
@@Adam-om9hu I now have degenerative disc in my neck that causes me daily pain and migraines. I’ve already turned in nexus statements and a buddy statement. Luckily I was just approved for degenerative discs in my lower back so I’m getting another nexus trying to tie my upper and lower back together

What if you are already 100%, but you still have claims to submit ( ex. Hypertension secondary to my sleep apnea, plantar fasciitis secondary to my leg/back).
Honestly if you are at 100% I wouldnt poke the bear, now if the va decides to request after years, a revalution, I would turn around and make a claim.

Lloyd, before you get out, get checked for everything. Get it in your medical records. If you think you may have sleep apnea,get the sleep study test before you out. I Can't stress that enough.Get X-rays. Make SURE you get a complete copy of your medical records before you get out. Make multiple copies.You will not believe what items may come up missing from your records. It will be extremely difficult to try and get them later.If you want more information contact me back and I will tell you a lot more.

Congratulations on your career Lloyd! If you have injuries that you never had documented before due to the suck it up and drive on mentality, now is the time to bring those to light. This includes mental health issues.

Va disability is seperate from civilian employment.

I was tested for sleep apnea and the VA doctor told me that I am server sleep apnea. It took 3 years and one day I got a letter from the DAV stating that the results should be 50%. About a month later I got notified from the VA for 20%. Is there anything that I can do to see about getting it higher???
Ask for a higher level review. Chances are you have been under-rated
@@o311LouDogUSMC exactly if the claim was within a year, file for a higher review and a va supervisor will look into the claim and speak to you.
Do you have a copy of the study? Then request a Higher Level Review.

Let's hear an update. I'm on the route for sleep apnea (CPAP) also. (Active duty though)
So if the VA sent me to a shrink and I was told I could no longer work a civilian job that would automatically make it 100% I would draw.
Make sure you're keeping all of those documents stating that. Also, make sure you're going to the shrink and keep those records as well when you file. Get straight to the point of your condition when you're sending in paperwork. When they're rating you, they don't like to fumble through a lot of paper work.

My situation was I worked in supply and we never did PT in my firstdo it so when we went on road marches I would always come back with bloody feet at the age of 48 my feet went numb severe neuropathy The doctor at the VA. Told me to go one disability I didn't know I could collect disability then
Couple years after that I have had a heart transplant and they knew when I joined the service that I had a heart Murmur
I have depression I have anxiety and I have P TSD but I cannot get any compensation because I did not serve one day in war and I was almost in 6 years that's 6 years of my life

unless you get one claim that is 100% you will never get to 100 according to va math. I am left with 30% so a rating ofo 50% would leave me with a rating of 85% so the only way you get to 100 is if you get one condition that will qualify you as 100%
JoeyAmick: I disagree. I'm at 90% and will soon have 100%. You can reach 100% with secondary conditions. I have 20% for my back but with secondary conditions to my back I got an additional 60%. I also have other conditions that I didn't mention. I have bilateral ankle problems which gives me a little extra. So please do not tell people you can only reach 100% with just one condition. Two of my friends just received 100% with secondary conditions.

That one condition 100% rating will help you with SMC (special monthly compensation.) My highest single rating is 70%, then I have a 60, 30, 20, 10, 10, 10, 0, & 0.
VA math sucks, but it took a combination of all the additional ratings to get to 100% T&P.
It was nearly a 15 year fight for me to include appeals, but persistence is key with winning your case. If your VSO sucks and you feel like you don’t have any other choice, then go for paid representation.

That's false.I have a combined rating of 100% from service connected disabilities and then from my secondary claims.
