Doc explains the short cycle method of watering your lawn. It's not meant to be a deep lawn watering, but simply allow your lawn to survive during hot and dry conditions.

I was about to say the EXACT same thing! My neighbor got a citation and a court hearing for watering on a non-watering day here in San Antonio. So, it's once a week watering for me; about 30 minutes for each zone (2 split 15 minute sessions to avoid run off). I wish we could water earlier than 7am too. I'm in a similar climate to Doc in northern Louisiana and I've been letting it get long and sometimes to the point of seed heads in peak droughts like July 2024. The grass isn't a perfect carpet at times but that is ok by me. This seems to be a survival alternative for those of us who can't get to the lawn 2-3 times a week. You aren't even close to the kind of drought we have near San Antonio. We're 25'" of rain short for the year and we're having blazing hot temperatures. We're now on stage 3 water restrictions, which means that we can water only once every two weeks from 7-10am. When I do irrigate, I run each zone (I have 7) for 20 minutes, starting at 7am. I helps....somewhat...but my Bermuda is definately struggling.

I spray my lawn twice a year for spiders & grubs. Will that affect the microbial condition of my soil?
