Just when I thought this dress couldn't get anymore amazing... IT HAS POCKETS?!?!
All hail the pockets! đđ
I don't know why we stop putting pockets in dresses to be honest
@@h5y878 I still add pockets to pretty much everything đđ
When you showed how you lengthened and widened your pattern, I had to have a moment of just pause and reflection in my life choices. I never knew how to do that and reading instructions were never clear to me. And then, this video happened and omg it makes so much sense why things are done the way they are. The fabric you chose is absolutely gorgeous and seeing it being made after watching all the CoCo vlogs makes me so giddy with glee. Thank you for sharing your process!
Right?! I'm a very visual person and drafting from a book was an impossible dream until now.
@@thearchivemermaid2033 I KNOOOOW ;A; drafting from a book always ended up with warped pieces for me. This clarified things and also definitely gave me hope for fitting things to me better bc yaaaay plus sized shapes are hard to wrap my brain around.
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. I have been working on a TV umbrella skirt pattern, I have gotten stuck on the hemming. I have attached the waistband, but it is currently hanging in my closet waiting to be hemmed as I could not figure out the instructions. I'm sitting watching this going OH WOW... that's how to do it...
Ooh, cutting out a small scale pattern to alter is genius.
Also I genuinely laughed out loud at the bloopers, thank you, I needed that today.
I saw this gown first hand at Costume College it was glooorious! Or should I say Heavenly ;) Thank you for sharing your artistry with us.
Oh my gosh, I didn't know it had pockets!!
I've been waiting for this ever since i saw it in CoCo vlogs! I'm so excited!
The pockets are huge! I could hold my wallet, snacks, and a water bottle!
@@EnchantedRoseCostumes Wow! And here I was thinking this dress couldn't get any more perfect.
"QUEEN of the Night! Not Lady of the Night! THAT was discouraged." Don''t mind me, just going into a coughing fit from laughter over here.
Having seen Coco footage of you in this dress I am so happy to see your construction of it. It is breathtaking, and you wear it with such style and elegance. Congratulations.
The serging broke my little historical heart.
The dress is absolutely stunning.
The way you showed the pattern altering on the small pattern is great. Iâve red instructions on this process once before but never quite got it so this was super helpful
Wonderful to see you making the skirt. The explanation and showing how you made a pattern too small for you fit your body size is fantastic as I have similar issues and have never been able to figure it out.
Gotta love a bit of slash 'n' spread! And I LOVE the placket pocket! It's such a fun historical detail!
The pocket makes me so happy.
15:08 Looking at you Bernadette, haha.
đ€Ł
Beautiful!!! Looking forward to the rest!!! 'Lady of the night' Lol
đđđ
Disclaimer: This dress always has/always is/always will be absolutely stunning! However when I saw you have Forgotten Gardens by Kate Morton I started crying. She is my favorite authour EVER and NO ONE I know knows of her and it's just....thank you for your talent and your authenticity and for knowing who Kate Morton is. And for the library aesthetic. đđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđ
Alida Shannon Forgotten Gardens is the first book I read by Kate Morton! I agree! It IS a great book.
The skirt for your 'dancy' dress turned out beautifully. Love how the pocket is so cleverly concealed. Thanks for sharing.
I've been sewing for most of my life. I'm always impressed when I learn something new. Thanks for adding a few new techniques to my toolbox! Well done.
Absolute magic. I saw the completed dress on a number of videos posted by people at costume college. loved it. Can't wait to see the construction of the top. You are an amazingly talented lady. Thank you for sharing your designs with us.
âLady of the nightâ đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Your information on how you upscaled the Janet Arnold pattern was the clearest I've seen, read, or heard so far. I no longer feel abject terror at the thought of attempting one of those patterns in the future (perhaps a bit of terror, but lessened by your methods).
That silk is incredible; I can only imagine how beautiful it must look in real life.
You're so good at explaining how to transfer and alter patterns! Nifty, thank you.
That fabric is so dreamy! What a wonderful find!
How accurate your work is! And the horsehair-stiffening blows my mind! How useful it is, that you can pull a string in it, to form it! I can't wait, to see part II, the construction of the bodice and all of the stitching of constellation.
The shape of that skirt is so graceful! Great work
Watching this while teaching myself to make a generic 18th century cap. Lovely work!
Oh this is just stunning! One of this things I adore about Victorian dress is how elegant it all is. Such simple shapes manipulated to make such flowing and wonderful gowns. Your work is so neat and professional too! Looks absolutely awesome, great job! Canât wait to see the rest of this gown come together đđđ
bloopers are so much Fun!
Loved watching you work on the tiny paper pattern! I've done this a few times myself when a pattern idea comes to me. I just draw it out on graph paper and then make tweaks to it. I also like taking scrap fabric to make teeny mockups before I draft a full-size version. I sew modern-day apparel for myself, not historical, so I don't have to worry about ginormous pattern pieces...but after watching this, I'm tempted!
The shape reminds me of Elsa's coronation gown! I think the filmmakers said that her time period was 1840s though. I'm so excited to finish this series.
Down the rabbit hole I went into the book of Fancy Dress Described! Oh who new a Waste Basket could be so charming! I want to be a Sweet Pea! Or a gardener. Oh heck lets just be an Irish potato girl which "suits" me fine! Actually it is a huge book of "History Bounding" dresses. Love IT! Thank you for the trip into imagination run total amuck. Now when can we have a Fancy Dress Ball?
Sew, sew, sooooooooo beautiful!!! Thank you!
oh.. thats so pretty!! i cant wait to see how it all comes together.
I love the shape of this skirt. It's so elegant!
Amazing job! Can hardly wait for part 2.
I love seeing you wearing this at costume collage, great to see the making of it.
I love the instructions on how to expand the pattern. I really appreciate it.
This gown is stunning. Thank you for sharing.
Had to stop this 30 seconds in...the shelf behind your left shoulder, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series! I knew as soon as I saw it. You have excellent heart and taste. Had to say it. Now, I can enjoy your video.đ
Gorgeous! I love this dress. Thank you for going through how you upscaled and made the pattern fit you. Super helpful.
Beautiful.
to see the gown you wore at costume collage in the making is awesome xx cant wait for the rest xx
Beautiful work!!! So lovely to see.
Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
How stunning I cant wait to see more from you
Those bloopers/outtakes at the end amuse me, mostly because those are the sorts of things that come out of my mouth
Such a beautiful dress!!! And the bit where you alter the pattern was really helpful! I often feel like I can't sew the pretty things because I'm too big and didn't understand how to alter the pattern! So thank you!
I LOVE THIS PROJECT
Your constellation dress is out of this world! Your work has inspired me to have a go at period costume myself - thank you
This is so gorgeous! Also, the mini-tutorial about scaling up the pattern was super helpful to me.
So beautiful! I love how you explained enlarging the skirt pattern from Janet Arnold. I think that the first time the process has made clear sense to me. I love your channel and accessible you are! Thank you. â€ïž
Oh what joy!!! I am so excited to see the rest of this series, and thank you so much for explaining the Janet Arnold drafting method! What an incredible undertaking, I am looking forward with great anticipation for the stars!
I liked that I could follow along in my copy of Patterns of Fashion 2. Bonus itâs a skirt i want to make possibly one n December and now you helped me decipher the grin. Thank you. I will be rewatching and looking forward to Part 2.
Squeeeeee! I'm SO obsessed with this dress, so happy to see your process making it. Definitely one of my lifegoals to make a Queen of the Night gown.
ahhhhh yes! i was hoping to see a making of this when i saw it in various costume college videos, it's so beautiful!
Very cool. Can't wait to see the bodice and how you mapped out the stars! Great job!
Huzzah for the constellation gown! I would have never thought to put facing over the horsehair on the hem. I'm learning so much! And that taffeta is gorgeous!
Well done!, the skirt train looks beautiful and I believe the finished product will look glorious.
Such a stunning dress canât wait to see the finished videos and I live for the bloopers đđđ
Wonderful! That really makes the pocket tape clear - for some reason I had assumed previously the the tape goes to the bottom of the pocket. This makes so much more sense!
Beautiful as always!!
most of this it totally going over my head but the result is beautiful
I'd love a wedding gown like that!
OMG đ€ I use to this dress pattern for my wedding dress. (But without this huge sleeves). I have mock up yet, but it looks quite similar like your dress. I am so excited that I do it corectly đ
When Bernadette went to costume collage I saw this dress, and thought it was beautiful, so watching it come together is nifty, thank you!
OMG I am so happy this video is finally here! I saw this dress in all of the CoCo vlogs and was like, 'Oh My God I think I am in love! I totally need this dress in my life!" so wow thank you for making such an inspiring ball gown!
Thank you for sharing! So beautiful â€ïžđ
Thank you! That gown is amazing and I'm constantly showing people just how amazing it is.
I've been hesitant to try to scale a pattern for myself, but your instructions has given me some confidence to give it a go.
Thank you đ
Once you have a system that works for you it usually isn't very difficult. đ
You are amazing! I'm in awe.
Lovely shape to the skirt!
Oh so happy that you made this video. Loved your dress when I first saw it on the COCO vlogs. The hours it took to make is so impressive but worth it.
Thank you so much for showing how to enlarge and I presume decrease a pattern. Your explanations of how and what you are doing are great. I hear my self saying "oh, so that's how you do it, oh good idea..." And of course the bloopers are wonderful. Always good to end on a giggle.
sheâs so talented and for what?? so glad i found herđ€
I love that taffeta that you used! The colour is so lovely, and watching you sew it made me think of water. I love that you put a pocket in the skirt! Pockets are so important for keeping hankies in, or coins. I learnt how to make pockets when I was sewing in high school, and put pockets in a lot of my creations. I can't wait to watch part 2! TFS! ~Janet in Canada
Gorgeous
Yay Iâve been saving up all these videos for a proper binge watch and Iâve learnt so much from part one, particularly about how and where you lengthen patterns - itâs a perennial mystery to me but one I have to master because Iâm ridiculously tall and I canât go to a ball with an ankle length ball gown! As an aside, I only realised that pyjama bottoms were supposed to reach your ankles when I went away on a school trip - to me it was perfectly normal that everything was 3/4 length!!
Marika... Thank you so much. I have been working on a TV umbrella skirt pattern, I had gotten stuck on the hemming. I have attached the waistband, but it is currently hanging in my closet waiting to be hemmed as I could not figure out the instructions. I'm sitting watching this going OH WOW... that's how to do it...Again, Thank you so much... this helps us Newbs to sew and understand historically inspired clothing patterns to make @historybounding items for our everyday wear.
Love your dress in the CoCo videos. Thank you for posting a how you went about designing it. Love the bloopers at the end :D
Great hem technique.
I enjoyed watching your progress! Iâm so tempted to make a big fancy gown
Doooo iiiiiit!!!
Thank you for posting this! I learned so much - in particular, how to use crinoline tape
Ever since I saw this dress on all the CoCo vlogs I've been watching, I was hoping you would show how you made it. It's such a beautiful dress! And thank you for showing how you lengthened the skirt. It's not something I've needed to do yet, but I'm sure it will come up. :)
Haha. I love that you showed bloopers.
Loved the bloopers at the end đ€Ł
YES! Im so freaking excited, Im so freaking early! I have been waiting FOREVER for this video!!
Yep, this was one of my most favorite costumes at Coco. We are really trying to come next year! Ironically using horse hair when watching; that was funny. Will be on the lookout for part 2.
stunning.
MagnĂfico deseando ver mĂĄs trabajos tuyos gracias desde España đȘđž
thank you for the lovely video
I have been waiting for the video!đđđđ
You've got the perfect doll scale pattern too
5 seconds in and I can already tell that I'm gonna like her. Subscribe!
I love this skirt and the overall dress! That book is so wonderful ^_^ I love some of the things that they dressed up as
It is so very pretty and what a great steal on the fabric. I love that it has pockets. I have to admit that I cheated and have seen it finished and you wearing it at the function you went to I believe it was in NY city but I may be wrong it was a couple of nights ago that I watched it. And by the way YOU LOOKED STUNNING!!!!!
As always thank you for sharing
I think you have done a great job
God Bless
Looking over your shoulder at the beginning, I find myself recognizing a lot of book titles. (Tamora Pierce is a great author :))
This is like magick
I love your videos!
Girl. Bernadette sent me here from her Costume College video and I SQUEE'd like a little girl princess when I saw this dress! it's SO BEAUTIFUL
This is so beautiful and so clearly explained! Thank you đ (lol lady of the night!! đ)

Yay for awesome people, actually learning something and relaxing music AND a gorgeous amazing dress AanNDd bloopers that are like mine đ±đ (to youtube or not to youtube)
honestly amazing work, can't wait to see more
Fabulous video. Iâd give my arm and leg to have that glorious pattern book. It looks lush
Am I the only one when I see a bookcase behind a presenter Iâve got to see if I can read the titles. Funnily enough, I own quite a few of them. Great taste!
thank you!
