This kit just shattered all the expectations. everyone thought/was worried it was going to be a flimsy mess, instead we get a near perfect kit. definitely getting myself one.

The most ambitious product of Bandai. Same 10/10 rating from me although I'm not a Unicorn fan but to put something like Getter into 3 transformable mode without sacrificing the details is absolutely very tough. Pending for the Odaiba Unicorn real scale.
Wow, Bandai, just wow. I didn't think they'd be able to pull it off, but to not only have it transforming at 1/144 scale but also very solidly built compared to other Real Grades and basically every other version of the same Gundam? Props to them. And now I will eat my hat.
Let's count how many variants they can make to really milk this thing:

banshee novel version
Building tip: before attaching the inner shoulder parts (B runner), _heavily_ oil the and *loosen* the joints on the shoulders and elbow. These two tight parts cause almost all of the snapping because turning the arms in any direction puts pressure on the inner joints which cases G35 (yes this part is infamous) to snap. To reduce the pressure you need the shoulders and elbows to be both lubricated and loosened. Thank me later (no really, I learned this the brutal way with the RG Unicorn as my first kit)
Got the Gundam Base version, which just has a Gundam Base stand with it.
I thought nothing of it at first, "Neat, my first RG.", but then I saw the statue transform as I looked at the box, and I was in utter awe. I fell in love with the Unicorn Gundam that day, and plan to watch the anime tonight.
Watched this review twice and still impressed by the unicorn. It's just too much for me to handle, the transformation, articulation, design, everything is just outstanding. Now I just need banshee to stand alongside with this kit.

Tip for the transformation:
To get the extended transparent pieces for the legs to come out, pull the back leg piece (Vent i guess) out slightly while pushing it down. This should cause the legs to spit the reddish-pinkish piece out. (Be careful, my RG Unicorn Perfectibility broke because I cranked it too hard)
Btw in transforming the leg part, You dont need to any tool to transform it just lightly pull the backleg thruster down and it will automatically pop out the destroy mode red part
I dare say this is totally a whole new mile stone in gunplay history…i'm just so glad I was born into this day and age to witness this……
Honestly I’m just amazed that this thing stays in one piece considering that it literally separates almost all of its parts for the transformation.
+Mecha Gaikotsu, in the leg transformation, I saw reviews and you don't need to push out the psycho frame, you just need to pull down the back leg thruster and the frame will pop out.
Couple thoughts, this will help the sale of the Shinanju,

because of your review i bought the full armour version last year, spent the whole year buying silver paint, and painted the whole under frame blink blink.

I thought that's just part of the RG expierence? They're fiddly to pose, but look stunning when done... all of them are like that, the Sinanju is amazing for the scale, detail and engineering in it.
That one should've come with it's own inner frame. Prime92 said it, and I couldn't agree more. They would then be able to pull off the other ones like Nu, Hi-Nu, and Stein, too.

I'm pretty impressed! I was CONVINCED that this was going to be an absolute mess since its announcement- I'm glad I was proven wrong! I might actually pick this up since I don't really have a "standard" Unicorn... I've got all the Banshee's though! XD
I was half expecting another RG zeta situation, but the engineering here looks really solid. Lots of locking points for both modes and minor parts forming in areas that would have been too delicate otherwise. GG
I just ordered this kit on Amazon. Gonna be my first time building one. Wish me luck.
11:28 for that transformation, it is actually explained in the manual, which all you need to do is to push thrust fen down, the chained mechanism will than push the psycho frame up right.

Gundam Unicorn is one of my favorite Gundam series and I would feel so great if I got this kit. Truly amazing
The reason it's so good is for a couple of reasons. The first being is that most of the moving parts are actually abs and not polystyrene. ABS is WAAAAAYYY more solid doesn't fade as much as ps. Also, the runner with the flex inner frame is mainly just for the transformation, the articulation is mainly from the seperate parts. The joints are so tight because again that runner is abs. This is my second rg, the first being the wing gundam ew, which is a plastic hand granade. So far this blows it out of the water, and it can actually stand on it's own. The only nitpick I have is that the heels aren't aligned with the front part of the foot so making it stand up is a little difficult but at least it can do it.
A kit I already own but even rewatching this review makes my mouth water, such a perfect kit

PS: I own rg unicorn but havent built it but i did lots of research thru internet before i bought it because i dont want to repeat the tragedy of my rg zaku
Well my rg unicorn firing hand pose got broken because of the hand peg it's hard to disassemble the arms because if you leave the unicorn in a shelf for too long it will get stuck even if u use lubricant it won't work
The “Unicorn Curse” is mostly because people rotate the arm from below the elbow, twisting it completely off

Wow I'm not a fan of the Unicorn overall tbh, but that is just a masterpiece of engineering and on such a tiny scale, too! Definitely gonna have to pick this up!
Also my main problem seems to not be too apparent on this version, which would be the way too long legs on the other kits

wow, it's good that they somehow incorporate the head transformation of the SD to the RG. it would be really difficult if they do it like the MG ones because it will be a disaster due to its small scale. Great review!

If you apply the stickers well enough then the extra detail looks amazing

Also, for that Knee Psycho Frame, you're supposed to do the same thing as the MG, pull down on the thrusters on the back of the leg after opening it, and it will push the psycho frame inside the knee forwards.

The Unicorn Gundam is to the Granddaddy, as Shin Godzilla is to classic Showa Godzilla. Basically the same, but clearly different.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Mecha fucked up the knee transformation suuuuuuuuuuuuper hard. You pull on the the thruster on the back of the leg and the psycho-frame pulls up on its own. You do not (and absolutely SHOULD NOT DO THIS) have to pull or push the psychoframe out yourself.
Don't do what Mecha did here and make sure to read the instructions carefully. I guaranty he broke something when he did this and if he didn't, then he should be counting his blessings.
i have this gundam and surprisingly it isn't that of a hand grenade as my RG zeta gundam yes it does break sometimes when you are transforming it but for a transformable gundam its fairly solid

Bought this kit because of you stating it was so great and because i loved the design and the only issue i had with it was with the arms. Sadly my gundams right arm snapped open the joint so i needed to get some testors liquid cement to fix it. The reason it did this, was becasue the arm was so tight that it made it impossible to move. I did some research to find out the best way and easiest way to get rid of this problem was to use Baby Oil. just make sure theres nothing else in the oil but just oil. If you let the tight parts soak in this stuff for about 2 hours or so and then let them drain for about another 2 hours, then the arm is much easier to move and has the best performance that you could ask for. and if your wondering Yes it can still easily hold up the shield and the rifle after this so to all you gunpla fans out there, hope this tip helped you out greatly! Ps testors cement can be found at michaels and the baby oil walmart.

If you pull down that big piece on the calf part of the Unicorn, those parts will be pushed forward and that’s a lot easier than trying to push it out
I think you can pull the part at the back of the leg down to push the psychoframe part in the front up.
Duerf You're correct. The psycho frame and the leg thruster are connected inside the frame by a track (if you get what I mean)
That part of the transformation was really satisfying, too bad he didn't know about it. :(
I just finished this kit last night, and it was my first gunpla ever and I really wish it wasn't. the right arm is waaaaay to tight. the left arm is fine, but still kinda tight like you said. a few pieces of armor keep falling off when I barely touch it. that part with the knee for the transformation was literally one of the most annoying things I've ever done, and in doing it something felt wrong with it so I took the leg apart and ended up breaking a peg for one of the pieces. yes, it is super awesome looking, and I might wanna try it again when I get a little better but for now, this kit is gonna be my "test subject" for trying new things and what not
So you mean to tell me that bandai couldn't put this quality into something much bigger. But what do I know abount Gundam design right. But I'm incredibly glad I was mistaken about this kit initially

Sounds a bit more sturdy than the transforming zeta gundam. Was always my biggest pet peeve with that kit as it felt so flimsy. Might have to give this a look.
I know a lot of people hate how the Psycho Frame peaking through but it doesn't bother me at all, I just see it as when Banagher is holding back the Destroy Mode

Finally the definitive or should I say the superior Gundam Unicorn model kit than the previous Unicorns.
Aside from the lack of the RG hands and a few more weapons like the Gatling guns, this kit is truly amazing. Let's wait for the moment Bandai will release the expansions to make the Full Armour. Either they will release the expansion pack as a P Bandai or release it at normal retail in 1 or 2 packs and make the full package a P Bandai, with probably a stand as a bonus.
Here's a tip for pulling the knee psycho frame. Pull on the thruster flap behind the knee. It'll come out when you pull it right.
I watched a couple of reviews of this, and i have to say that your transformation sequence was the best, very explanatory Mecha, good job

6 years later and that kit is awful, mine has absolutely crumbled in on itself like a dying star, the shoulder joints broke before I even finished the kit, anyway I love old mecha videos, especially the ones where he is drunk, thanks mecha!!!
The only things bad about this kit are the shoulders and tight arm joints.

for transforming the knee area, you're not supposed to push or pull the red part out; the instructions say you should grab the calf thrusters and pull them downward. the thrusters and the red part is connected so pulling the thruster downward should propel the red knee part out.
Got this figure, first time transforming and the piece that connects the arm fucking snaps, good kit mate
SynXDoes, I haven't but I'd recommend moving the arms around before attaching them to the torso as they are really tight at first.
