Ah thanks dude, compressors can be a proper delve down the rabbit hole to understand..but normal mortals like us dont need that level of brain fry lol

Thank you for this video. I just started singing some backups and wanted to learn about live effects to clean up my voice a little. Now I have a much better understanding of the types of effects would work best for my needs. This was extremely helpful.
Singing backup was where i started as well, its a great way of dipping your oar in the water without having to take on the whole scary frontman roll straight away. Glad it was of help 👍🏼

Just started exploring this topic and I'm glad I came upon this video first thing. Awesome introduction on vocal effects, and very well presented. Obviously, a video about audio needs to have good audio itself in order to demonstrate the differences, and yours nailed it. great video, thanks Vonbeardingham - I am in a band and unhappy with the thin sound of my vocals so you've told me everything I need to know! (mainly - add a little reverb!)
That bit of reverb can make such a massive difference! Also finding the right microphone for your voice is a game changer as well

Geez! Wow! This video just turned up on my feed. So I had a listen. I’m a bassist who’s spent a considerable amount of time relearning guitar. I’m an older guy now & my beautiful kids are good & gone, so now I want to spend the rest of my life in music. I’ve arrived at the fact once again that I’m going to have to do some singing if I’m to go solo for now. I prefer band. I can stay in tune ok but I’m not a strong singer. I’ve just been a backing vocalists at jams. I pulled my VL3X out of the closet not long ago & I was going hmmm okay what can I do. I started a search. A few days later I found this simple, down to earth & very inspirational video lesson of yours. It’s just totally changed my approach. Thank you soo much🙏You have no idea what that just did for me….hahahaha honestly!

I really needed this. I’m a singer/songwriter and I’m wanting to get involved with this and I find people use these terms so passively but I don’t understand any of this so to hear it elucidated as well as having examples is greatly appreciated. The haze became clear.
