    Heya thank you for the comment! Ive just had a listen, she got skills! You can tell theres a lot of passion in her singing and that she’s really connecting with what she’s singing, which is a big help. When people feel the song, theres a massive difference in performance. Thats the key, making it a performance rather than just singing. You can hear at time she gives it more grit and pushes, but she keeps control and also you can hear how quick she is getting breaths in to keep going. It would be interesting to see how she does this live giving it that much power and with such relentless pace. In the studio she will have the luxury of doing multiple takes so she will get breaks to get her breath back. With songs like this its about finding the balance between control, emotion, power and breathing. In the studio you can give it more power and emotion because you can rest inbetween. On tour or live, control and breathing becomes the main focus whilst moderating the power but trying to maintain a good level of emotion. When in the studio, i find i use a lot of body movement and almost act the part to give the performance that extra edge. Like if you watch voice over actors, they arent static, they move and simulate what they need to do to deliver the right feel. My advice, try pushing yourself and experimenting with more power and emotion. See what sounds good snd connects, then try and dial it back in to gain the control. I hope some of this makes sense and helps lol

    This Dio drive is something more connected to the epiglottis, I believe. One important thing is his drive technique likely comes from his years of playing the trumpet as a child. There is a technique of growling on the trumpet that he was probably inspired to make this drive.

      Generally when we go to the top of our range we have to thin out our sound a little, otherwise we hit that point where trying to use our full sound means we hit that break point with nowhere to go. For me its a case of changing the sound, angling the flow of air to more of the roof of the mouth and nose imagining the sound into a point rather than a round sound. Im going to hopefully do a video on it soon

      @@VonbeardinghamI've seen courses that ditch chest voice completely and bridge to head at E4 My head voice is pretty darn loud I can do some Judas Priest stuff but it's nowhere near the tone of Dio or Bruce Dickinson around G4 to C5 Or even Bon Jovi Honestly even Axl Rose sounds beefier than me using head voice in this range. Not to mention in head voice we literally have to replace vowels to sound resonant and to me that takes away the speech quality in the voice. What would your thoughts be about this? Why do so many people teach that we switch at E4? Is it not possible to maintain chest tones safely up there? (A few other people do teach high chest like Phil Moufarrege, Marnell Sample, and kinda Ken Tamplin)

    • @Vonbeardingham
      @Vonbeardingham Před 4 měsíci

      It depends really, it been a great unit for years and if it does what you need, then crack on 👍🏼 generally with pedals and as tech advances, the main things that will change in my opinion, will be things like quality of harmonies ability to detect pitch etc and functionality. Also usability and looping functions will get better as well. Reverbs and delays etc which we all tend to use have been pretty good for years. One of the key things to remember with vocal pedals, is it all depends on the Voice that’s going into it. Guitar pedals, tones and amp simulators are always progressing on ways to improve the initial signal going in. With us singers, we are just wanting something that’s going to flavour our voice, so what we need isn’t as heavy duty as a decent guitar simulator. I would say don’t upgrade, unless you really feel you want to, and only really if you need better auto tuning functions, harmonies or maybe a more effective pedal functionality for storing patches and changing effects et cetera

    • @loabilooly

  • @Necropheliac

    One of the noobie objections I hear with beginner vocalists is that they want me to turn off the click track. This is a huge mistake. Get used to singing with a click. Get a metronome for when you practice. The biggest problem that producers have with vocals is not the pitch, it’s the rhythm. Pitch correction actually sounds a lot less jenk than correcting the rhythm. Singing with perfect rhythm will make your vocal tracks so much better than tracks that have to be rhythmically corrected. Just get used to singing to a click, you can thank me later. This goes along with using your hands and gesticulating. The more you can gently move your body to the rhythm, the more in sync with the beat you will be. Listening to the drummer isn’t quite good enough, you’ll be more in time with a click track.

      Those two words are really interesting. It sounds to me like he gives it a bit of yarling (lots of grunge singers did it in the 90’s like layne staley and eddie vedder). Instead of saying one, its more like wuurrrn, which you can kind of get if you raise your top lip up as though your were baring your top teeth. Add a nice bit of gravel and grit in there and you get another splendid eric martin vocal committed to record ❤ Hold uses the same kind of technique and sound as well i think
