@@KongsRUs good stuff sir.. thanks. When I saw the relays I was wondering what they even go to. Last time I used one was to convert my sportbike lights to LED
@@KongsRUs i spent the last 4 hours watching the solenoid vid, chat vid with Phil on his solenoid setup and browsing the vpin build book. Still trying to understand the wiring a bit. Phils flipper kit has one port going to flipper and other says pc input. Is that flipper board wired to a seimens relay and then to a second sainsmart in yours, then connected via USB to pc? Because the guide states to commonly use the siemens rather than solenoids for flippers due to heat buildup holding the flipper open. And according to your setup you have 7 solenoids with phils sainsmart board, and 7 siemens relays. So you have 14 individually set to all kickbacks, poppers and flippers? Each with separate power and sainsmart board? DOF recognizes 2 output boards? Sorry for the questions but it's crazy how I wrote instructions for million dollar robotics machinery but can't nail down installation process on this. When I eventually build mine I'm going to hammer out a step by step guide with wiring diagrams of each component setup. Look at the schematic book of your real pin and you'll know why. Yes, it cuts power to the 12v Flipper Solenoids. I essentially have 2 Solenoid systems in my cab, 1 for stock ALP and 1 for PC tables. So the switch turns off the direct Flipper Solenoids, so the Contactors I installed fire thru the PC configuration
What was your source for the lighted switches? Were they all drop-ins or did you have to enlarge the mounting holes? Also, did you have to mod anything to get the replacement legs to fit?
I had to enlarge the square LEDs I used to replace the start and home buttons. They were 34mm buttons you can find on Amazon. The round LED buttons fit without any mods and got them from DIY Retro
Thanks! Unfortunately it's been so long since I've done the mod, I don't remember or have any details about mapping. There's some default inputs that the ALP registers as a controller on your PC. So then you can manually map them to controls as needed
Wow Very Impressive!how much did the Mod Setup run you? really like the backbox beautifully done. would like a setup like yours.. Thanks for the sharing
Bee / Kongs-R-Us, As always...absolutely fantastic mod! However, the section titled "Sample Demo Gameplay" is what had me the most interested. I wanted nothing more than to use my Legends Pinball to play my Pinball FX3 library via OTG mode...and like your demonstration, I am crestfallen... The other cabinet "piggybacked" to this same PC experiences ZERO latency when it comes to flipper presses...it is a really easy test when two different input devices showcase such noticeable results. Have you seen/noticed this and do you have any suggestions?! Simply amazing work. I have got to ask, was it not overkill to have both solenoid & shaker, plus SSF (i.e., exciters and bass shaker)? I would think working together this cabinet would rumble all over your room! I do love the idea of solenoids tied to the flipper switches directly to add feature directly ALP. Maybe that's why you have both? Flipper solenoids and SSF for ALP, the rest for Win vPin? In the end starting from scratch might have cost the same, minus not having access to the ALP tables? I love the form factor of the ALP (larger than 3/4 but smaller than full). I have not been able to find a cabinet kit for 32" play fields. It's either 27" (too small) or 43" which is nice but a tad bit large for my needs. If you know of such a kit I'm all ears. Thanks for the great work and videos!
Thanks for the comment! I do like the size of the ALP and I definitely went Overkill with feedback devices, but I like the combo of physical Solenoids and the SSF sounds for the table.
