@@teapotone I do too. Have have the Go Gravel protector that has 2 separate plexiglass elements where the smaller side has the amber option too, but it will colour not just the running LED, but the beam too. I didn't want this, so just stuck with clear. Downside though is it is not clip-on clip-off, so a bit of a pain to clean the actual headlight lens. I am happy tho that it gives the protection wanted.

I shied away from it, thinking it would cast shadows on the road at night. I have the clear carbonate protector from a different brand. Quick question Bruce - will that pass MOT? My BMW garage advised against a grill because it create a matrix light and there’s a slim chance something will get through. They also said it was 50/50 on MOT. Wondered what your thoughts were 👍🏻

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  Před 4 lety +1

Strictly speaking no the grill won’t, that’s why they don’t advise using it at night and the LoneRider one comes with the option to use both the clear Perspex and grill options at the same time - you just flip the grill down for night use (I only installed the grill as I’m happy tide at night with it if needed).
It’ll depend entirely on where you get it mot’d as to whether they just mention it or refuse to pass it with the grill in place. I’d simply pop the grill off for the mot, then pop it back on afterwards - same as many people do with aftermarket exhausts and small number plates 🤷‍♂️👍

Bruce, I love all of your videos, comments and suggestion BUT.... I have to disagree with your comment ‘nice and easy’ in this vlog. I spent about 4 hours fitting mine and about 3 hours or more was due to the fact that the hexagon nut on the lower bracket was an ‘absolute nightmare’ to insert into the hole on the bike.
This part (and only this part) which is right at the start of the fitting of the headlight protector has an extremely bad design flaw in relation to the hexagon nut on the side bracket. Yourself in this video and Lonerider recommend using sticky tape to hold the nut in place to help when placing the bracket into the bike. I tried this and ended up using various types of sticky tape and I had about 40 attempts (at least) and it did not work for me. In the end, out of sheer frustration and desperation I finally decided to super glue the nut to the bracket and I am happy to say that it was an immediate success.
Like you say in your video the Lonerider headlight protector is overall and excellent piece of kit in regard to the aesthetics and style and also the superb quality of the materials and the finish BUT... the company desperately need to change the design of the hexagon nut and bracket section.
I am so, so sorry to have a whinge and a moan BUT.... it was after all, this video clip that convinced me to buy it and even with the struggles I experienced I have to be honest and say that I am so glad that I did.

      Hello John,
I’m sorry to hear you had such a nightmare with the Hex-nut, it really wasn’t an issue for me once I used the gaffa-tape to hold it in place 🤷‍♂️

      Cheers for now,

Of course it’s taken as a negative, how else do you expect us to take that?
      But let’s look at it:
The Headlight Guard: I make 0 from that, I was given their kit to try and if I like it I make a vid on it, which I’ve done. I don’t even have an affiliate link for it so the only revenue is Adsense - a pittance.
SuperShield Automotive vid: I make 0 from that, in fact YOU get a 10% discount because of my vid, but I make NOTHING. I did a vid on it as Pete is my friend and I believe it’s a fantastic product.
Skutrnet Servo Buddy: I PAID for this myself and have no connection with the company, I make NOTHING from this vid.
Pactalk Bold: it’s the best Comms unit on the market and whilst I make a commission on any sale via my affiliate link, YOU save up to 20% off rrp.
Calimoto: you get a months free trial, I make NOTHING from each sale.
Hmmm, yeah I’m a sell out, I understand your point there Dave 🤔 🤷‍♂️
Not entirely sure how people who make derogatory comments on any activity that either promotes a product and/or invites a sale via an affiliate link, expect us to make a living here? This content costs you NOTHING to watch after all.
