This is awesome! I was thinking of a rewatch to just trace the appearance of the cravat (necktie). I also think this little piece of material culture was telling some intentional things about the characters.
I think the ascot (the other fabric that you have documented Thanks) might be more about show buttoned up Stede was/how fully dressed in his gentleman persona he was in the scene. Keep up the good work! New subscriber.

What most people say is that it represents the hold Stede has on them. You can see the tightness change accordingly as well
