Needed a laugh so I searched out The Goons.... best nights sleep in a while! Used to listen to them on the radio...doing chores was so much easier. So glad to see some of their ‘work’ (‘fun?’) again.... Thanks for the memories, lol! 😁😆☺️🤪
"You silly, twisted booooy mefipulate. You are slating the funniest show EVER. But you're forgiven, as it tooooook a very unique type of humour to understand Spike's GENIUS and you just don't have it.
These guys were comic geniuses! Or maybe, "genii"; I failed all subjects at school because I was off listening to comedy on the radio and television. All in all, it was a wise decision.
I accidentally discovered them in the 1980s, thanks in no small part to the cut-out bin of the local chain record store (yeah, I'm that old). I wish I still had my copies of the two albums I did own. They were true classics.
The song title Spike gives at 5:50 "If I had to do it all over again, I'd do it all over you" is the title of a song Bob Dylan recorded in the early 60's.
Listen to a few more episodes - it will grow on you. :) I recommend "The Conquest of Space", Napoleon's Piano, "The Case of the Vanishing Room", "The Phantom Head Shaver (of Brighton)", and especially "The Canal" which features guest performer, Valentine Dyall.

I wish I had been alive when these first broadcast, so I could experience the thrill of listening to this by the radio. This is great stuff!
"who is it?"
"Open the door at one or we'll knock it down!"
"What sort of name is that??
LOVE IT :D
They truly ground breaking. I would dread to think what British comedy would have turned out like without them!
First of all, the ground would be in one piece.
The goons, never again
Loved these ever since I discovered them. I just love how you can tell they're having a lot of fun performing.
i've been listen to the goon show for years! but watching has just completed my joy
Brilliant!

The British ruled the seas. Then they ruled the "waves".
I remember once it all started its just so funny harry more of the funny ones and Spikes a genius
It's a whole different experience watching them do it.

It's also the title of a Caravan album.
Also in Harry and Megan's wedding vows. There wasn't a dry ginger in the church that day.
Were they all sozzled?
so brilliant...
my fathe rtold me about these, so i decided to look it up, and so happy i did, i laughed all the way through :)
Hurriedly I tore open the letter, inside was an envelope! Hahahahaha
Good lord, Harry Secombe has a tremendous voice
Realy coool
Let me go outside and see... Oh, look, the window is locked...
if it wasn't for them there wouldnt have been who's line, Python...........
Always a pick-up, the Goons.
"My latest hit song, 'If I had to do it all over again, I'd do it all over you'". :)
They somewhat remind me of Whose Line Is It Anyway
Harry is Drew, Spike is Ryan
er the good preceded Monty Python by a good 15 years old son!
Are you sure about that? I'm sure that Greenslade died in 1961 - the last regular episode was in 1960.
He was dead by then. Wallace died in 1960.
Nobody ever replicated Peter Sellers
I remember an article that stated that one night Sellers was sick and it took four people to play all the roles he did during a show
obvious troll is obvious.
Was Greenslade not here for this one? His place seems to have been taken by Ray Ellington.
He had died by the. time this was broadcast.
I would watch every single Goons episode if they were available in video form.
Please don't do that.
iddle i po
What terrible broadcast reception. You can hardly see them...no wonder radio failed.
pornograph
I hope that you are actually joking. If not, you need to research your British comedy and learn how to spell Monty Python.
lol wat is this a bad montie python ripoff by nerds fillmed with a black & white camera
You do realize that this predated Python don't you? Do you also realize that the Pythons cite the Goons as a comedic influence?
I found it really boring.

You silly twisted boy you.
