- On Wednesday July 27th I attended the 6 week post-op class at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in Ottawa Ontario Canada. I discuss that visit in this video & also RANT about "absolutes."
Great video and great advice Erin!!
I've been watching dozens of peoples' videos in preparation for my surgery and yours are, by far, my favorites. I appreciate how level-headed and "normal" you seem. I was starting to get nervous that wls made people crazy, seeing so many unusual people and behaviors in other videos. I am so thankful I found your videos. I have surgery on Dec 29...I'm quite terrified. Seeing your amazing progress and basically complication-free journey has buoyed my spirits. Thank you so much!
Thanks Lynne, I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. I hope you are doing well as your surgery is this month - getting so close!
Great video Erin!
So Erin, I love how grounded you are. You're so sensible and that's just awesome! You look like you're doing well, I hope so. I always look forward to your videos. The keep me going as I look forward to my own surgery in just over 2 weeks! Thanks so much😀
Thank you for the kind words! You must be getting so excited! Started your liquid diet? Or do you not have to do that?
+WoWmamaErin RNY Technically I start Monday, but I have been doing it for a few weeks, because my dr wanted me to lose 20 lbs. before she would ok me, and that was the only way my body would lose anything. So after another week I will be on just a clear protein diet(still trying to figure out what that is!) until surgery. Lucky me!😀
You are so dead on with the advice. It also applies to everything in your life not just WLS. I always look forward to your posts. Thanks :)
And thank you for watching❣
I was asked not to rely on protein shakes also during my last follow-up and there are days I succeed at reaching my macros but some days I just need a shake too. you're looking amazing and have always done very well since surgery. that was very nice to have a 6 week class and review all of the gains since surgery.
Thanks Hun! Yes, the 6 week post-op class was very helpful & nice to touch base with some of the people at the clinic. I get the feeling that my nurse is less concerned about the use of protein shakes than the nutritionists are, lol 🤔 😜
This is such great advice sweets, and i think i will mention it as well in my next video if you dont mind. I get asked all the time about what I am doing and how they will do it, and wondering if I am eating too many calories, etc etc etc, and in the end I tell the same thing, its your body, this is what works for me and you have to do what works for you, but I dont think I voice that enough in my videos. Thank you for the reminder that I should be saying that out loud more often.
Of course I don't mind, more people will hear the message that way! Thank you so much for watching!
Sounds like they have a really good amount of information they give you post op. That's awesome! You're right about the advice giving online. People definitely need to take everything with a grain of salt, follow their doctors orders and be sure to be careful about the info they use. Everyone is different! Good food for thought girl!! Can we do something about that death and taxes thing? 😁😉 I'm happy you're doing so well. Sorry you're feeling a bit on the downside! Next week will be better!! 😘😘😘
Unfortunately I can't do much about Death & Taxes! lol Although hopefully we are all prolonging that by becoming more healthy! Thanks for commenting!
+WoWmamaErin RNY Lol you're right for sure! 😉
darlene is right, you're so sensible. there was some weird drama in the facebook group yesterday about some crazy lady and chicken wings. people really do need to stop listening to strangers instead of doctors.
lol, drama, drama, drama! Over chicken wings! I think I know what post you are talking about. Thanks for watching ❣
I love watching videos made by people local to me! I had my orientation at the Civic in December and my first appointment with the nurse is on Tuesday morning. How long did you wait from orientation to surgery?
Too bad your scheduling was a bit off. I can see myself having difficulty not relying on protein shakes. Could you please make a video on how you meet the protein goals with food. Did they suggest a fiber goal per day? I appreciate your little rant...I agree, it seems you have to listen to yourself, follow the program and don't compared yourself to others. I don't know why others feel the need to pass judgement on your process. Thank you Erin, for sharing. ☺
I believe the fibre goal is 25g/day. I'll check my paperwork when I get home. Thanks for the idea & I'm working on a video for my food intake today & I'm considering doing it over two days so you can see a low cal day compared to a high cal day 😀
Awesome! Thanks a bunch! ☺
