    CP Rail never seems to have clean locomotives in Kanada. But in Michigan, and west to North Dakota, their locomotives are shiny clean.

      @@deannicol CN locomotives are mostly clean. CN is owned in part by Bill Gates. I spend a lot of time in Detroit, Minot and parts of Minnesota and the CP locomotives in the USA are mostly spotless. Its like they don't care or they dont own a high pressure hose here in Kanada.

  • @mitchcartablancakenworth3681

    Can someone explain the first little whoooop and the second loud wooop, generator then an air compressor?????

    • @hermankoerts8185
      @hermankoerts8185 Před 2 lety +3

      To my knowledge: The whoop (1.10) is the starting of the electric motor that drives the compressor . Seconds later, the air compressor starts pumping (1.13). There is a time difference because the electric motor (and the air compressor) start up unloaded. Advantage of this is that the starting current of the motor is reduced and that there is less stress during the starting-up

      First whine at 1:05 sounds like either a bad alternator blower or Equipment blower. Correct information regarding the 3CD compressor.

    Why do most locomotives get equipped with autostart functionality? Like, why do they need to start the engine even if the locomotive isn't being used?

    • @marklindsey1995
      @marklindsey1995 Před 2 lety +6

      I think it has to do with water being used as coolant. If it gets to cold, the engine can crack.
