- Shot between 2016 and 2019 this is a selection of great HD audio captured by a DSLR mic. There is already enough footage for a second compilation that will be made in the future!

Great IL watch that after
Nice to hear the sounds of the diesel engine and generators and not those bloody crossing bells, horns and scanners. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!
0:50 bad ass sound and backing into the night.
Great shot.
Lol totally bad ass
Love that signature earth shaking GE chug man, nothing quite like it
Can’t forget the clunking GE Idle. I love that too, and the air compressor kicking on.
You can feel the engine…. Amtrak, too.
@@caderamsey8878 the idling GEs always sound like they"re starving for fuel!
I can hear these things from a mile away when they pull up grade thru my town. Especially on a cold winter night when the clouds are low, the sound travels far.
Oh yes, nothing like the smell of diesel, and that good old classic GE chug. If I'm suddenly awoken by one of those, it's going to be a great day.
3:50 - 9766 sounds sick
yeah sounded like it had a few dead cylinders
Hearing a loud GEVO rumble from far away is so relaxing to me
Sometimes I can hear it from my house which is 4-5 miles away
Imma train fan myself. They are monsters. Nuthin but sheer power. The shit u should fear. 👿😡😤😡
@@CSXRailfanNick1003 really? You ain't lying?
@@TheWhiteFamilySeries Nope, lower frequencies travel farther.
0:47 That bassy sounds coming from the GE locos are fire!
0:53 AWESOME SOUND
i love this sound
Yes! No horn, no bell, only sound of engines! 👍
That Gevo sounds gives me goosebumps
I like the air compressor turning on and off. I wish MTH had gotten more of that sound on the proto sound.
Amazing job and the Woop from the air compressor sound's awsome
Thank You, glad you enjoyed the video. The air compressor sounds great for sure.
@@EdmontonRailsno prob the union pacific locomotive sounded like a Jet airplane
From locomotives to the most powerful jet engines, GE rules the rails and flight corridors. Most favorite sounding GE engine powers the Boeing 777 but this locomotive is a very close runner up.
Ya know it's gonna be a great video when it starts with a large "whoop"
Awesome sounds,thanks for sharing!
Excellent GE Locomotive Sounds👌
Very Nice Video👌
0:30 love the snarl of that engine
I love 4-strokes so much
We admire huge diesels’ sound…😎
awesome sounds
Some of the best recorded loco sounds I've heard. Thanks for the video. Your mic must be really good to capture it all, undistorted.
It's funny that they're using those es and ac4400s for switching
Short railyard in the day of long trains, no where to park a fully assembled consist around here.
Subbed. Sounds ballsy as
Love that GEVO chug
Awesome video !
Thanks!
@@EdmontonRails Your welcome !
Say it with me now: 7:02
One more time: 7:30
Those are some awesome diesels
*Excellent!!! - Powerrrrr...*
GE and EMD for life, baby!
Nothing compares to the rumble of a GEVO.
Cool thanks mate
Awesome. GE's just sound like power
Whenever I am in Olds AB And I hear the ES44ACs and AC4400CWs I get goosebumps and I think to myself oh better get ready to watch the train
It's great being able to hear them approaching from far away, echoing across the landscape.
Ha haha yes
Although I'm not really into GEVOs, some earlier Tier 2/3 units still sound badass when notching up or idling. I'm more into Dash 7s, Dash 8s, Dash 9s, Genesis, and AC Series diesels, but they still sound and look cool. If they used a variety of different horns that would make them even better!
I like the sound of the turbo and then the engine
Awesome
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching
I agree, I Also like the GE Sound, great Sound! . But I am more fan of EMD Sound, turbos and non turnos!
0:50 The beast lurks away into the shadows
5:45 listen to those girls sing
Amazing!!!!!
Thanks!
Muted Thunder, “boom-boom-boom-boom.”
Love me some g e sounds
Great sound! I always preferred running GEs. Thank you for no horns!!!
What mic did you use?
I'm not an expert on audio, but I can tell you this: Camera shoots video at 20-22 MB/S with 48,000 HZ audio. I edit with Adobe Premiere and render at 10-12 MB/S at 96,000 HZ audio. Hope that answers your question.
Mic used was internal microphone of Nikon D3300. I have a piece of mattress cover foam taped to the camera, over the mic to muffle wind noise.
The night train, about .30 seconds in - what’s in the sky ?
Based on TimeandDate.com it was likely Jupiter, possibly Saturn
How to distinguish the type of locomotive without seeing the serial number beside the locomotive? like the difference between ES44DC and ES44AC?
Some railways, such as the Canadian Pacific only operate AC GEVOs. There is also the roster number that can be googled.
@@EdmontonRails honestly, the biggest giveaways are between dash series and the GEVOs are with the sound and the rear radiator sections. GEVOs are bulkier in the back.
@@EdmontonRails or ac4400s.
@@scenicdepictionsofchicagolife those radiators always reminded me of the blowout hair style. But don't some EMDs have their own variant of those larger radiators in the back as well? They just don't go all the way to the back edge of the long hood
Old Hammer Head😮😮😮😮
And no horns.
non turbos
5:21 UP GE AC45CCTE #7499 Steaming And Whoop Sound
5:30 STEAMING LOUD !!!!!! [AGAIN]
I wish I could live near railroad tracks so sounds like these could drown annoying noises made by people.
It does sound great.
