      Dohas metro is definitely better than Dubai’s by a long shot, then again it had to be because of the World Cup
      You can’t have a trash metro system like Dubai when hundreds of thousands of fans are visiting the city

      Dubai's metro routes make sense when you look at satellite images from 2005. It just hasn't kept up with urban sprawl or growth since 2008

    As much as I don’t support Qatar, this is a pretty decent metro, definitely better than Dubais
    Although I don’t get why they didn’t extend the green or red lines to the Al Janoub and Al Thumama stadiums

      Even then though China and India can construct metros faster, but for a small country it’s impressive

    This shows how fast Doha builds their stuff, they’re metro started in 2019 but we’re able to already do 3 lines, and Warsaw is only able to do 2 lines even tho it started in the 90s

      Main reason of fast building is using migrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh for building stadiums and metro, while European countries usually build infrastructure slower due of ban of using working migrants as slaves

    Proud of how fast Qatar grew their metro system, and as an Arab if I had to decide one country to go to in the Arab World, it would be Qatar (My home country, Syria, is in a civil war so I wouldn't choose it because its not that safe, but I would like to visit it every few months.)

    Wow, kudos on the metro. Are most of those stadiums temporary buildings for the world cup?! Seems like most would be surplus to requirements after the tournament ends? Are they going to be converted into something else?

      Stadium 974 is the only temporary stadium. The others will have their capacities sightly reduced but are permanent. Part of Qatar vision to become a sporting hub.
      Aside from the vanity project though, seems unlikely that a country of 3 million people is going to find a way to use 7 large stadiums consistently

      @@pingu255 Qatar runs on oil money, so the sultans... or lords, couldn't care less of the profitability of these venues. For them the costs were minimal because *S - L - A - V - E* labor

    Qatar city planning is kind of oasis in the desert, they successfully avoid dumb failures of other rich petroleum country in the gulf, it's metro area is makes more sense.
    I hope they will continue creating new satellite city like Lusail and Al-Wakrah and providing great public transport to it rather than expanding the suburbs around Doha like the way other Gulf countries does.

    I have seen the launch of all 3 lines. When redline was launched they started feeder bus free of cost to pick and drop people to and from nearest metro station

      Qatar is a small country only 3 million people , and they only had 1 football stadium before the world cup. This is why it is so silly the tournament is in Qatar. They had to build all the other ones since 2010 to host it

      @@bababababababa6124 yep that will probably happen. Only 1 of the stadiums will be dismantled. The rest are permanent. Qatar wants to be a sporting hub in the middle East. I doubt this will work out well. The stadiums will be another monument to the stupidity of absolute rulers
