This is the film I had been waiting for since 1977 when I first saw Darth Vader and needed to know his story. In my opinion, the best narrative of the franchise.

I also was waiting for this since 77. I read in Dynamite or Hot Dog magazine that Darth Vader became like he was (the suit) because he and Kenobi were fighting on the edge of a volcano.

You’re exactly right when you said that anakin lost his mind after his mother died. He just couldn’t deal with losing anyone else. All he wanted was to be loved. Since he was a little boy that’s all he wanted. And the emperor manipulated that and broke him

The Emperor manipulated Anakin's existing character flaw and used it for his own ends.
The emperor also planted those dreams in anakins head. He also used his force powers to slowly weaken yodas senses and other Jedi
@@1shogunate696 kind of. The Jedi Temple was built on top of an ancient Sith Shrine and it was slowly weakening them over the thousands of years. By the time Sideous shows up, the Jedi are weakened enough.

That whole scene where Padme's childbirth agony runs simultaneous with Vader's cyborg surgery is perfect storytelling. Bone chilling stuff. Epic tragedy.
As you realized, Darth Vader was created when Anakin’s mother died in his arms.
If only the Jedi showed some compassion and let him save her sooner.
Revenge Of The Sith is my absolute favorite out of the prequels. The double climactic lightsaber duel that takes place toward the end of the movie, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader VS Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar and Yoda VS Emperor Palpatine on Coruscant in the Senate chamber are top notch across the board. Musical score, fight choreography, visual effects, audio effects and emotional impact. I give them all an A+.

What's interesting is the last thing that Anakin ever hears from the people he cares about before they die is "I love you".

This one is definitely the darkest Star Wars . It's brash it's serious and unapologetically brutal as it should be because this is where we see the Imperial Empire rise . This is where we see the Jedi fall this is where we see Vader rise .

Anakin’s fall to the dark side is so utterly devastating to those he loved and the wider galaxy. Palpatine’s planning, cunning and patience to orchestrate his takeover of the galaxy is next level. I absolutely love this movie and I grew up on the original trilogy.
Episode 3 aged so well. The written is excellent and the CGI is almost 20 years old and its better than 2day movies
I started fencing at age 6 then at age 9, in 1977, my father took me to see Star Wars. So the second Luke lit his father's lightsaber that was it for me. I had no chance to not become a huge, huge Star Wars fan. We waited 22 years for that duel and I must say Anakin vs Obi-Wan did not disappoint. It's still the best lightsaber duel in all of Star Wars. (Followed closely by Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon vs Darth Maul)
Remember at the very start when Palpatine told Anakin that Dooku was ''Too dangerous to be left alive''? However true that may be, Master Windu would never have accepted it. Now, Anakin has to watch Master Windu say and do the exact same thing to Palpatine that he would have expelled Anakin for.
One argument might be that Dooku had his hands severed. Palpatine could still fight so killing him would make more sense. Just a thought

In the Original Trilogy, Obi Wan give Luke his father's lightsaber....that lightsaber killed younglings.

Idk if anyone referenced it, but the story about the sith lord that could bring people back to life but was killed by his apprentice is Palpatine and his master. It's a great book too.
I read an interesting theory that R2-D2 is really Darth Plaugeus and was plotting his revenge on Palpatine for killing him. It's an interesting read with some good points. 👍

You haven't seen "Rogue One" yet. It explains the complex situation that enabled the rebels to obtain the Death Star plans in the first place. Basically, laying the foundation for the first film and ergo the entire series.

Each of the movies has their own issues. But when you put them together, it’s one of the greatest stories ever written. Episodes 1-6 have left their mark in fictional and human history.
To quote Lucas “Star Wars is the 6 Episode tragedy of Anakin Skywalker.”
This one is my favorite of all the prequels. When I saw this in the theater, when the clones started killing the Jedi I started crying.
I still wonder if Obi Wan had been on Coruscant with Anakin, could he maybe have kept him from turning?
Real cause of padme's death was palpatine poisoned her. In 51:31 after palpatine told that vader killed her due to his anger, you can see a small smirc on palpatine's face.
Wasn't it that he drained her energy and used it to keep Anakin alive?
We now know how Darth Vader got his injuries and why Obi-Wan told Luke that his father was more a machine than a man.

If you really want to take a deep dive into the Star Wars universe, the next think to watch would be Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
It is both a movie and tv series both animated. All the stories take place between this movie and the last (Episode 2: Attack of the Clones). With the last season overlapping events in this movie. It includes all of the main characters you met in the prequels and focuses on a few new ones.
The recommended watch order is chronological, which jump around a lot in the early seasons, but their are list on the web that will give you the story arc order.

Recomend you see the CloneWars series. Its epic flushing out more of the wartime between ep2 and 3. Season seven is a masterpiece that ties directly inn to events i ep3

Palpatines damn lucky he caught Plo Koon in a starfighter because he 100% would have survived, and Yoda + Plo Koon wouldn't have broken a sweat killing the Emperor.

Vader wanted revenge on the Emperor for duping him. He planned on overtaking Palpatine by teaching his student in the novels The Force Unleashed 1 and 2
When the Emperor sensed Vader plot, Vader showed his loyalty by killing his student so he couldn't rat him out but the student survived and vowed to eliminate Vader for his betrayal. Vader was the Emperors puppet but he kept a watchful eye on him
R2D2 and C3PO are the only characters that are in every movie of the core 9 movies. You should watch "Solo" and "Rougue One" before episodes 7,8, and 9.

One of the things I love about this movie is how, if the Jedi acted like Jedi instead of the Republic's police, non of this would happen. Ironic, their old morals would've saved them, if they had held onto them.

I always hated the explanation for Padme's death.
Padme, who always has been a fighter for the past two movies, loses the will to live because Anakin turned to the dark side? And that despite her not only going to be a mother but also believing that there's still some good in Anakin?
That never matched for me and I would have preferred it if Anakin actually would have killed her by accident. The twins still could have been saved in an emergency surgery.

Though having just watched Revenge of the Sith where Obi Wan sees Anakin being addressed as Darth Vader, and Yoda telling Obi Wan that Darth Vader has consumed Anakin, you may find it odd that the Obi Wan in the TV show is taken entirely by surprise that Darth Vader is Anakin. Presumably it slipped his mind.

Obi-Wan has heared that Sidious/Palpatine named Anakin Darth Vader, but then Obi-Wan killed Anakin (he thinks).
Then a NEW apprentice of Sidious/Palpatine appears named Vader.
Maybe he just hasn´t made the connection that his 6 foot dead apprentice is ideantical with this 7 foot robotic new sith lord.
