What insane world building like sure we are going to revive the sister...but how many times has our boy died???? See my full uncut live reaction to the episode over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
Manga reader here. The good thing about Dungeon Meshi is that, unlike many shows that look promising in the first few episodes but fall off soon after, this show will be even better as the story progresses.
Ah, a fellow manga reader - It would be amusing seeing non-manga readers' reaction to *THE THING*
@@TheFoxofKnowledge cant wait for when THE SCENE will happen
Assuming that the studio have faith in their source material, since I have quite list of "favorite Manga/LN that has abomination anime adaptation". But, because the studio is Trigger, I'm quite confident that this statement is true 95%
@@TheFoxofKnowledge There's so many insane story moments in the manga that I genuinely have no idea what thing you're referring to
@andrewbrasfield1104 Oh y'know - When *[REDACTED]* shows up, and *[REDACTED]* knows how to *[REDACTED]* because *[REDACTED]* . Apologies, it's difficult to give vague hints of this series without giving too much away. If it were Vinland Saga it would be easy to refer arcs as England Saga, Farmland Saga, Dogland Saga, and Vinland Saga. It's vague, but doesn't really say what exactly I'm referring to, unless you read the manga unlike Dugeon Meshi, where giving some clues might give the plot away
I think part of the reason why they localized Dungeon Meshi into "Delicious in Dungeon" instead of "Dungeon Foodie" or something more closely resemble to the Japanese original title is so that when you abbreviate "Delicious in Dungeon" , it'll be "DnD" too ~
Oh , the author of this series is a DnD fans
I didn’t even realize til you said it
Oh!
Man was serious about eating literal armor
He be built different
I just realized something, the extra layer in the armor is not built in, this slug like animal latch on the armor and glue itself there, then it adapt it's shell to look and feel like it's environment, giving the appearance that the inside is empty.
The author Ryoko Kui is a big TTRPG and CRPG nerd and something I've noticed about death in this series and how she does it is remarkably close to how it works in Baldur's Gate 1&2 something she's a known fan of. Basically in the games if a character dies with their body relatively intact it can be revived pretty easily but things get complicated when a body is mangled beyond repair.
It may be a simple coincidence but I thought it was a neat detail.
The idea of the sword gastropod thinking they're mating because Laios is holding the sword is really funny to me
I can’t believe we got actual dungeon crawling in our cooking anime
oh we havent seen the half of it yet. im a manga reader and believe me this is honestly gonna be more like getting cooking with our dungeon crawling anime lol
Love this we get 3 things all in one. A dungeon crawling adventure,a historic and analysis on dungeons creature and the world and cooking show. On top of that the characters blend so well with one another and interaction are funny as well.
I'll never get tired of these party members' personalities, i just enjoy them so much
Laios is surely an interesting character, i've read the manga recently and i'll say his character ended up as the more intriguing at the end
You should check out mangaka's Baldur's Gate fanart. Running joke is that is that the manga ended so she can binge on Baldur's Gate 3.
Dude is something else-he wanted to actually eat armor lmao
Ahhh, i love how the tone slowly starts to shift from it just being this colorful dungeon anime to a more sinister and plot heavy anime. Laios has a sort of madness to him, and now it's starting to show more.
Btw i'm anime only, and i only know that it does get darker and more serious.
Reading this manga I was amazed by Ryoko Kui's creativity in expanding things that have already existed in ways we've never seen before.
one thing that most of readers/viewers havents noticed so far is that every monster they have encounter are lethal, every monster in dungeon meshi is lethal even a slime , the laios party is consist of adventurers that has alot of experience in fighting monster
The living armors in this reminded me of the Hunters from Halo, similar concept of a bunch of hermaphroditic creatures controlling a big piece of armor.
Steamed clams? I thought we're having steamed hams.
No, no! I said Steamed Hams! That's what I call Hamburgers...
The protagonist definitely has a fetish for monster food, and definitely acts like a psychopath, I legit remember in the first episode when asked if he wants to save his sister, he said yes, but his expression showed, that he cares more about food than his sister's life, the dude is weird 😂😂
I guess when being killed isnt a threat long as you get to them in a months time it makes sense given their world lmao
Some slight spoilers, but the manga readers, at first, joked about Laios having some form of Autism due to his obsession. Then as more of his backstory is revealed, readers realize he might actually, legit have some form of Autism.
Same for his sister. Their priorities can be seen as odd by others.
justsomeguywithamustache2901 special interest is not the same as a fetish. Stop being abelist.
I feel like there is some neat symbolism in how he acquires a new sword like the last time he fought the living armors. In both cases it was a learning experience that came with new kit after the previous sword was broken in battle.
Know i understand there attitude when it comes to finding the sister him dying clearly proves that revival is quite a normal thing in this world so death really isn't that big of an issue
Laios is crazy but I like him 😂
My sum up of this episode for me, best way to explain moving armor to me
Yeah, I thought this was the best ep, and they def hit the clutch.
This is the first one to feel like Trigger, I'm glad I gave it the old three ep.
merille is just too perfect. silly elf is silly.
This show would make a vegetarian eater question themselves if it counts vegetarian
Hey Brandon i notice you reviewed blue exorcist before are you going to review season 3 or are watching it cuz just started today and going down memory lane reminded me how much i loved this series
I don't remember the series at all and it has no following anymore so it's not worth it to make videos sorry to say. Someday I might watch it thoughb
That understand able it has been 7 years since kyoto arc came out and season 1 last 8 episode kinda killed since it was filler so sadly became underrated. It was why i went back cuz i forgot but its a trip
I'm gonna be honest, this show gives me confused feelings. I was weirded out by how casual the guy is at his sister being eaten alive but who still has a focus on being a monster cook. The description of the cooking process is impressively detailed, but also includes morbid things. The party even ate with a corpse being hung right outside their window. Then you have the main guy apparently not on his first time being brutally murdered. And all this time the show acts like a cooking show with PSA for nutrition.
But I can't deny that this is a great show. The animation feels average at first (to me), but has so much personality that this complaint is quickly null. The characters are developped. The details are amazing. The whole show keeps me coming because I'm curious as to what will happen next.
So, I'd say that the show is great, but the juxtaposition of a cooking anime (associated with more light-hearted themes) and the super morbid aspects make for a weird watch.
It may be morbid, but that's life. Killing and eating is what we do all the time, and yet farmers develop a friendship with the cows they butcher, life is morbid
Smh seafood slander.
That's the issue with reincarnation magic. It removes all urgency from a plot.
manga reader here and dont worry they find other ways to add urgency... things get shaken up a lot later on lol
For this anime, it doesn't. There will be so many factors that are coming in this series that will make the situation more dire even with resurrection magic.
And to add another thing, the resurrection magic in this anime could only happen in the dungeon. If the adventurers died outside the dungeon, no amount of resurrection magic could revive them back as there is a special case with the dungeon that could make that happen. Outside the dungeon, it would have been just a plain necromancy and that is taboo in their world.
