As a Canadian, it's refreshing to watch an American competition show with competitors that are kind and respectful to one another.

of all the catastrophic failures on this show, this one hurt the most.
Especially since it started off so well, cutting more deeply into the pig than his opponents sword
I feel so bad for Liam. His workshop was on fire while making his blade. Then the blade he was making for several days broke and he made this one instead in under 10 hours. It looks beautiful and is a lot sharper but unfortunately you can't quench metal properly in such a short period of time.
Karabela means “dark curse” in turkish.

@@officialKJ98 I mean not that weird. Karabela is a polish variation of Turkish kilij and there are few theories regarding the origin of the name but one says it could taken from Turkish geographical areas where it may have been produced.
One of the incredibly few moments where Doug doesn't say the weapon will kill. But still, love this show for its civil attitude to the losers and respect of the craftsmanship of the contestants.

What are the odds they would have a camera set up to catch the cracked blade hitting the ground?
Since they probably have 3 to 5 camera angles set up...I'd say pretty good. Blade failures happen, why not be prepared for when/if they do.
or they might have just shot that angle afterwards by just throwing the blade into the wall

I love this show. It's so cool to see so many new weapons I never knew about and see what these people's weapons can do to many objects and how those objects effect the weapon and now the weapon effects the object
It's a shame Liam lost. The 10k would of helped with the rebuild if his shop. I think he rightfully should of won just for the loss he went through. You can tell he was hardly keeping himself composed, just hiding it well. It's a shame to see bad things happen to good people.

this sword is actually less curved version of turkish sabre kilij/kılıç/kilich/kilic. its name also turkish. it literally means kara=dark bela=scourge

For Liam, JUST being able to present a sword to get tested was already a victory. His blade was a work of art as well as being deadly. EACH of the slashes will kill. EVEN the last one when the blade broke. He did MUCH more than try, he DID.

I like how non of the sabers are karabela, but batorowka. A different and slightly older type of polish saber
Batorówka is type of decoration. But you right, it is Black Sabre, or Husarka. Older, hevier most dangerous that carabel.
My guess is that he meant the Polish-Hungarian Sabre which is sometimes known as "Węgierka" or "Batorówka". Still, they resemble the Hussar Sabre the most, as they have that handguard.

This is not Ottoman sword. It is Balck Sabre- Hungarian and RON answer for Ottomans sabres.
@@gokturkheavycavalry4011 I konow it. But in program was shown polish type of sabre: husarka. It evolved from hungarian cavalry sabres.
According to it, Osman sabre called "karabela" also evolved, and in RON , where Osman style was wery popular, was differend then Osman . In the program was shown a typical polish sabre, husarka, not a karabela, polish or turk style. Regards, men.
@@starzeczgor7594 The Karbala was heavily influenced by the sabers of the Turks at the Seige of Vienna. The Poles captured tons of equipment and adapted what they thought better.
@@paulmazan4909 Not Karbala (a city) but karabela. This sabre has eastern finishing, but edge was made in european technology. Captured ones was a decorative or parade exemplars.
