I have heard the Secret Service prefers the President to stay there. That it's easy to get in-and-out and easy to guard, control and protect against most threats. The President staying there makes their job easier and at a much lower cost.
A nice get away place for the President and Family. First time I heard it mentioned, that I remember, was when Eisenhower was President. Lots of history there.

This is probably the most ignorant statement I've read all day. Probably all month. We are all more ignorant having wasted time on it. POTUS, regardless of party, has one of the most stressful jobs in the world. What are they supposed to do, check into a Motel 6 for the weekend? You try working 18-hour days, days on end, and not take a break. We'll see how effective you are. I don't begrudge the president access to this camp, or Air Force One, or any of the other perks that come with that job.

As a young sailor I spent near 4 years there through the JFK and LBJ years. These old photos bring back memories.
Was so blessed to be one of few people to visit Camp David and always wanted to get stationed there as a Seabee. They all loved it
