  • BOSE SOUNDLINK MINI 2 Firmware updater: btu.bose.com/#section=eula
    By (un)popular demand, I have bought myself a Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Speaker with a FLASHING RED LIGHT that does not charge off of eBay.
    After the "success" of my first video, and all the comments from people saying that I didn't fix their problem with the flashing red light, and I wasted their time, etc etc... I thought this would cheer everyone up.
    Note that this is a VERSION 1. If you have a VERSION 2, click on the firmware updater link at the top of this description.
    Hope it helps someone out.

    I am having one that I fixed after many attempts. It couldn't power on the amplifier, so no sound. Believe that other similar symptoms are related to it. The ribbon connector on I/O board was oxydated. This is the small board you attached the power supply, sound input etc. Just carefully remove the back mesh and the green board is well exposed. The white ribbon connector is tapped with some gray sponge,

      I’m having a problem with the red blinking light, and even buying a new battery didn’t solve it. I’m having trouble understanding what you mean by removing the back mesh.

    • @Cik2001
      @Cik2001 Před 3 lety +2

      @@donnaeckes5801 remove the battery. Carefully remove the back side of speaker which is the metal mesh like in the front.
      Then you will have the access to the ribon cable connector located on side power board. The connector is hidden behind the black sponge. Scratch it out and slide out the ribon cable from the connector. The cable contacts get oxydated and need to be cleaned with very fine sand paper.
      Put the cable back into connector and this should fix the problem at least in my case.

    I ended up doing a reset and that still brought me to the blinking red blinking power LED. I ordered a replacement battery and in the meantime, I just let the red blinking go until the unit stopped blinking red (it took a day or 2 - while waiting for the replacement battery). Ironically, just for kicks, I tried to plug the source into the Bose speaker's headphone jack after it stopped blinking red and powered it back on and it was working again just like normal. I do still have the replacement speaker battery just in case, but I figured I'd post this information anyway. Hopefully this helps someone... 😉

    This worked for me. I also saw your first video, even though it did not work for me, I was not upset at it. At least I learned there is hard reset for these things. Mine was sitting on the dock unused for about a year. Then a few weeks back, I saw the red light blinking. I dont know if having it charging and never using it could have killed the battery. Either way, I am disappointed that if the battery is dead, the device is essentially unusable, even if directly plugged in. Seems like a wasteful design oversight. Thanks for the video!

    This is a really funny video. You dont tell the people that you used an original replacement and exactly the same model for fixing it.Explanation:
    Problem: red blinking light means the device is not detecting the battery.
    Fix: connect the charger. if no lights are shown, change the charger 12v 1amp. Use any generic one from like a router or so. If red light blinking again with the generic charger, take out the original battery (4screws), wait 2 minutes and put the battery back in. try to charge it. If red light blinking again, your battery is dead. Nothing to do. its just e-waste battery. Put the battery in to the trash.
    At this point, for fixing it: bose mini1 has 2 different battery types, serial 061xxx and serial 063xxx. both are not interchangeable.
    If you have 061 you are lucky, just buy any generic chinese battery and it will work.
    If you have 063 then you are out of luck, because this model has internal chip locked by bose and will not work the chinese 061 replacement. be careful because the chinese ppl will tell you that they are compatible when is not true. (i bought 8 of this chinese batteries and can tell you by experience).
    The only way to fix a 063 model is to buy an original one but you cannot buy it separately. Bose charges $50 for replacement and service. Is the only way. Hope this helps!.

Then tried the mute reset and then only the mute and AUX lights start flashing. when I release my finger from the mute button, ALL LIGHTS GO back to staying on. Then when I plug in the AC adapter, its back to that stupid annoying flashing red light.

      Hi. Check this out. the problem: red blinking light or 4 white leds stays on, is because the device is not detecting the battery. Fix: connect the charger. if no lights are shown, change the charger 12v 1amp. Use any generic one like from a router or so. If red light blinking or 4 white leds stays on again with the generic charger, take out the original battery (4screws), wait 2 minutes and put the battery back in. try to charge it. If red light blinking or 4 white leds stays on again, your battery is dead. The only way to fix a 063 model is to buy an original one. Bose charges $50 for replacement and service US only. Is the only way. If you are outside US, sorry bose does not offer the service. Hope this helps.!

    • @StezStixFix
      @StezStixFix  Před 3 lety

      Hard to say for sure, as people seem to have different problems with these. But that could just need resetting, or you could try plugging it in, holding the multi button for 10 seconds, unplugging it and then releasing the multi button... or it could be the battery is dead and needs replacing. Hope you can get it fixed! 👍

      Hi Benedict, sorry to hear that you're still having problems. These Soundlinks (The Version 1 in particular) seem to have many problems. If you've tried resetting, a new battery etc. then it is likely that your firmware is corrupt. Sadly, I think the only way this can be rectified currently is by sending it back to Bose (very costly, I imagine). Hope you can get it fixed somehow! Good luck 👍

      If the red light si steady, it means the speaker is not having any charge wich means you probably have a broken AC Adapter. Use another AC generic adapter (from a router or similar) but with the same voltage 12v 1Amp. This will solve your problem.
