Congratulations to Knoebels for Phoenix winning the 2018 Golden Ticket Award for Best Wooden Coaster! That officially validates what many of us have felt for a long time - the best wooden coaster on Earth.
@Virgo Hamilton I'm lucky I live 2 hours from Knoebels. 1 hour from Hershey, 20 minutes from Dorney, and an hour and a half from Six Flags Great Adventure.
@Virgo Hamilton I have but haven't gone. I've gone to Knoebels and Dorney pretty much every year since I was little and Hershey maybe two or three times. I'm not.a big roller coaster person though so I just watch the videos on youtube. But I love going to them.
Many of their rides have historic significance: Phoenix: Originally the Rocket at Playland Park in San Antonio Texas; first wooden coaster to be relocated Twister: Replica of Mister Twister at Elitch Gardens in Denver Colorado Black Diamond: Track from the Golden Nugget in Wildwood New Jersey; listed as same ride Flying Turns: Replica of several Flying Turns of the 20's and 30's
@@JosiahFickinger No Impulse was not based off of Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit was built by Intamin and Impulse by Zierer. Kozmo' Curves was built as a replacement for High Speed Thrill Coaster and contains some elements of its predecessor while having its own identity.
So I was always scared of bigger rollercoasters, and always stuck to my safe favorites , the 2 wooden coasters here at Knoebels. But when they opened Impulse my boyfriend somehow convinced me to get on it (I actually waited in line once then chickened out lol) but once I got on it oh boy. I never had so much fun in my life. Definitely a great introductory steel coaster for those wanting to start riding some of the bigger and scarier coasters out there. It had me hooked!!
Its a great park like Rye playland me and the wife lived in PA for a few years and we went there quite a few times,it time for us to go soon, our son gets out of school soon and its also our 21st anniversary the end of May so,its a good park and some cool coasters and some new ones since we went last.

But he passed away :(. And not that long ago I was at Knoebles for a field trip for school it was AWSOME! And the black diamond is better when the lights are off.
Since i first began forming memories in the 80s Knobels has and will always be my happy place. One reason is the older i get its fun to see things change but Knobels barely has changed. Some rides have been removed and new ones added but 90% of what my 80s kid brain remembers is still there.
Right where Kosmo's Kurves is used to be a older coaster called High Speed Thrill Coaster that closed back in 2008. It was my favorite coaster growing up, and the only one I dared to go on. Up until I was 18 I was too petrified to go on Twister or the other ones, which today I do adore. Kurves never filled the hole in my heart that High Speed left behind, I never found it to carry that same special touch. And yes I've been on Kurves many times to confirm this. Will always love and remember High Speed Thrill.
Went to knoebels a few years ago Phoenix was my favorite ride. Also my friends grandad waited years for them to open flying turns, but unfortunately he passed away the year they opened it.
Damn that sucks man. I went this past summer and they weren't running it for some reason.... I must ask, was he familiar with that kind of coaster? Or just excited cause it sounded like fun?
Phoenix is pretty popular at Knoebels tbh,,, you feel like you’re gunna fly out of your seat but really it’s a-ok and fun (lost my glasses on it as a kid and threw up every time I rode it lol, memories XD)
Phoenix looks like a blast with all that air time. I like the looks of twister as well. Some of those drops look amazing. Impulse looks to be fun as well. Have to go sometime.
Phoenix is my favorite coaster ever specifically for air time. It feels like you're out of your seat more often than you're in it. There are two hills towards the end where it doesn't even feel like you regain your full weight between them. One of the best ever, highly recommend.
Black Diamond seems very interesting! At times it seems like they actually put in a chain lift to slow down the train instead of raise it where it would usually move quickly due to inertia and momentum. Very interestingly engineered ride, I'd love to give it a go.
I rode this as the Golden Nugget on the Wildwood boardwalk as a kid. The top of the ride was all open and you could look out over the beach. It was an impressive view with the salt air and seagull's. So glad it was saved from a scrap pile.

This is for the people who have never been on these before. If your just on a nostalgia trip ignore this comment The Phoenix is amazing, but I reccomend sitting in the back. It makes the drops seem alot bigger and it's just all out more fun For the impulse, DO NOT ride for the first time at night. That's what I did and I was screaming so bad because all I saw was black. It will also feel like your falling out but trust me, your not. Flying turns: this is a fun ride, but be prepared to be weighed. Also, it feels like the car of gonna flip upside down but I wont, so dont be scared. Twister: DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT sit in the back. This is a very rough ride and you will have a headache. I reccomend bringing some aspirin just in case. It's an amazing ride. And, if it's the same as before, there will be a man taking tickets, and hes deaf. He is the nicest and most heartwarming man I have ever met so just remember too give him a smile because hes honestly so amazing. Black diamond: this ride scared the living daylight out of me. Wouldnt reccomend if you are young or have a young child. Also wouldnt reccomend is you have ptsd including yelling and aggressive behavior. The animatronics shout alot and seem very angry, so if that bothers you, I wouldnt reccomend. Also, irl the lights are off for this ride so its ALOT scarier. Kozmos curves: this is a good ride if you have a little kid, and even in general. Igs not that exciting, but can still give you a little adrenaline. Idk if you can be too tall, but this ride is geared torwards little kids mainly. Also the line is usually SUPER long

I love knoebels every year we go for my birthday but we’re going early, we’re going tomorrow but only my brother his fiancé his dog and me are this year. The impulse is my favorite ride!

I’ve rode ever single one of them!
Wrong. Flying Turns is the only wooden trackless coaster in the world. Other bobsled/trackless coasters exist but are made of steel.
I like flying turns because you get a private seat.
I'm so happy I live close to knobles
I wish l could live in Phoenix but my cousins do
Oh I definitely recommend the Cosmatron I told the people who were working at it and I told the to play Old Town Road and they did and everyone riding the cosmatron were singing to it
Brings back wonderful memories. I love knobles
Black Diamond was the most intense roller coaster in the park.
The Phoenix has a really cool layout for so little a space ... nice
I've been there it's so much fun it's in Pennsylvania
Flying turns is faster it’s just the fact that there’s no one in those seats above
The black diamond looks more like a dark ride than a rollercoaster
I live in central pa I love knoebels I come here every summer
I kinda want to go on the first ride
Don’t hate me but the twisters my favorite
U can have an opinion but my favorite roller coaster is the Phoenix but my favorite ride is the flume or as my family nicknamed it the log ride
How come you went 8 times on cosmo curves, when I went on it I don’t remember it going that many times.
**shrug**
They started doing more I believe
AmusementNoodle it’s um.. kozmo kurves.
When I go (which is to much) they do 3 to 4. The most I got was 6 on an empty night!
I love these do for more parks
