CZcams and online forums is where I learn so much from so the more time I spend watching your informational video the less time I have to watch all the useless crap on here thats trending. Anyways, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

    Im so mad right now
    I found out older bathtubs in mobile homes, were injection molded with ABS PLASTIC then they turn the mold over and they add fiberglass and resin and call it a tub.
    So if one doesn't know this your going to become so passed youll want to put it outside for a play pool or use it as a pond.
    Just an FYI

    Kerosene? That stuff has paraffin wax in it. Try wet sanding with 3M Wet Sanding Sponges, 400 grit. Wash, use electrical contact cleaner or brake cleaner, then adhesion promoter, color paint and finally clear it! Wet sand from 1000 grit to 3000 grit and finally, a high quality polish. FYI, polishing compounds range from 800 grit to about 2500, they might make a finer one too.

    so.. here I am in central Australia a gizillion miles from a paint supplier. I have acrylic left over from doing the 4WD, clearcoat, primer and thinners. And I wanna repaint my fairings. So I'm thinking.. as long as I clean the existing paint like hell with soap and water after I sand it back very very thoroughly to get an adhesive surface.. so it's spotless and super "keyed".. then prime it.. without too much thickness.. then do a lot of coats of top.. then a lot of clearcoat. I might get a finish that doesn't peel or chip. Am I wrong? It seems to me all these videos say the same thing - clean clean clean. Is that enough? After all paint is a plastic and as long as it sticks to the object it should work. In theory.. :) Or do I need an "adhesive" layer? What do you think?

  • @Gollammeister
    @Gollammeister Před 2 lety +1

    For plstic
    Surface clean
    Then surface prep such as sanding
    Then surface wash including rubbing Alcohol
    Then it's appropriate primer for plastic that would be a plastic acrylic primer however many coats whilst allowing suffiecent drying time between coats
    But then we come to is there a spray on undercoat that's required?
    Top coat 1-2 coats allow suffiecent curing time between coats even wet sand between coats even necessary
    Then after final top coat I'd use a clear cost protective spray it takes 3 days to dry but it gives a bit more durability to top cost finish
