Thank you very much for this video I almost threw away my USB stick because I tryed every suggestion on youtube and none worked till I found this vid. Thanks a lot God bless you my friend.
Im glad that it helped and you haven't thrown a perfectly good stick away!
Beautiful, great tutorial. You were clear and easy to understand!
FIVE STAR RATING. TOP DRAWER. FABULOUS PRESENTATION. EASY TO FOLLOW AND UNDERSTAND.GREAT JOB!!!
Thank you!! I like your accent and how you explained step by step, talking slowly even though I didn't need it to be slow I'm sure it helped other people who aren't as familiar with technology.
TheMasterBanana Thanks for your kind words, there is a version of the guide which runs at a quicker pace in the description.
Excellent instructions I could easily follow. It did not convert my flash drive to FAT32. It said cannot format due to exceeds capacity limit. My flash drive is 64gb. Thank you all the same. It was worth a try.
Sorry to hear that please try this other method in the video here: czcams.com/video/xcbP0PrFe4k/video.html

Nice tutorial!
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO WORKED GREAT
mine was already FAT32 but it helped as I had trouble with removing storage this video helped a lot I feel stupid now :3
Helped me a lot on this vid! BTW, if I want a "full" format if I omit "/q" does it do full format then?
Yes it will take time without the /Q as the /Q is quick format
Wow, this tutorial would be amazing for my grandma.
But for me, I'm just sitting here laughing my ass off listening to you. But that's okay, somebody has to be the one to break it down into particles like this.

Hi, so are you saying that by doing this it will work on a tv with a USB port? as i right clicked on mines and selected 'Format' and it came up with 3 options not 2 likes yours, i had NTFS, FAT32 (Default) & exFAT as the options, mines is selected as FAT32 but when i plug it into my LG tv it doesn't regognise it, any ideas why?
Thanks. As I have now been informed by the command prompt that I cannot "quick" format my 64GB USB, I am formatting it as normal using your code provided :)
Try this video czcams.com/video/N6jySZuPM8g/video.html
I have many devices with Windows 10 and I noticed is possible in ones that don't have much updates allow formatting any drive to FAT32 via Command Prompt.
Sad, I find it ridiculous since my phone supports high capacity from SD cards and it can't recognize them because they come with exFAT by default, but when I achieve FAT32 then it can, and with no problems...
thanks that was helpful
No problem glad it was helpful!
Unbelievable presentation and it worked brilliant for me , saved me lots of time. Thanks a million!
CUM SLOBOZ CA MIE NU MI MERE CU INDIANU VOST CU TAT
For get everything..I was unable to back up the data..So I plugged the flash drive into the PS3 system and just did everything manually since it just wouldn't work no matter what I tried..I was still able to save my saved game data which is most important and the rest can be re downloaded. But One game I bought last year Costume Quest 2 is asking me to buy it again...Why? I all ready bought it.
I formatted my 16gb USB drive to the fat32 with the default allocation size and it can't read my USB on my stereo
You need to check with the manufacturer of your stereo to see what format the stereo supports.
Awesome, thank you for the great, easy to understand tutorial. A bit of constructive criticism would be alert in the beginning of the video that drives of higher capacity cannot be formatted to FAT32... i had no idea until i read the comments LOL.... bit of a shame you cant format a larger drive :(
+steph mccann Some high capacity drives can be formatted some cant, don't know why it just seems to be luck of the draw, I have put a note on screen warning that drives over 32gb in capacity might not work. Thanks for your feedback.
+steph mccann If your still having problems formatting your drive to FAT32, I have found another way to format a drive to fat32, its especially useful if you are trying to format a drive larger than 32gb, please see the video here: czcams.com/video/N6jySZuPM8g/video.html
What's the video you said about how to do this please thanks very much
Please see the description of the video for the other guides.
Thank You for Your clear explanation ...but when i tried your method the computer told me that the volume of my usb stick is too big (64 GB) and it cannot format to FAT32 So,what can i do to solve this problem?
I got the same message when trying to format a 128gb drive.
WONDERFUL TUTORIAL.
Thank you
I managed to even format my usb in fat 32 excess of 32 GB, but still could not get to my goal of making it work on my car as mp3.
+Manoj Varughese Your car may have a limit to the size of stick or card it can take or may require it to be formatted in a certain format, you will need to check with the car manufacturer to find out the specifications required.
What happened was when I bought it, I had simply just transferred mp3 files initially which to my surprise worked. I don't know what format it was in before formatting. I'll be purchasing another one like that for my office purpose and verify the format.
Helped so much
That's great glad it helped
thanks! will sure try this out :D !
Dimilioun Great let us know how you get on!
actually what happened was funny.. well before watching your video, i checked my flash drive's format (and it was NTFS)
and then after i watched your video i was very excited to change my drive's format but when i checked again, it turned out to FAT32 "wich is kinda weird" well i guess that my flash drive hates me lol :P
Dimilioun often flash drives are pre formatted to fat32 sounds like yours was one of them.
i guess so..thanks again!
i have usb 1GB and 16Gb can i format them to fat32?
Thanks so much 🙏🏽
No problem I hope it helped.
Yesss it did and saved me so much time ❤😄
I get "enter volume label for this drive". IDK what to put in there...
Anything you like, keep it below 8 characters as a longer word might cause issues. You might want to call it flash
I have FAT32 default on my USB but have been told I need to switch off the default and manually select FAT32 for me to transfer a file to my PS4 otherwise I can't use the console. Any advice on how I can do this?
Sorry no idea I'm afraid
which file system is intended primarily for use in large usb flash drives? support your answer with a proper rationale
No file systems were designed for USB flash drives, Fat, Fat32 and NTFS were developed for Hard Drives. Generally manufacturers try to use Fat32 as this format is recognised by more devices than NTFS. However, Fat and Fat32 has a small size limit.
I tried this om my 64gb and it comes up>>>the volume is too big for fat32
+35bigbri Try using this method which i use for my 128gb

Hi Chris, Nice video.
my usb stick is raw format, do you know how to change it to FAT32
any help would be apreciated
Please be aware that the card could be formatted as raw due to the USB stick failing, therefore it may not be possible to recover the USB stick at all, but before you throw it in the bin you could try this software
www.easeus.com/storage-media-recovery/free-raw-recovery-sd-card.html
If the USB a stick has not failed, this should enable you to format the card to at least NTFS then format it to fat32 using my video.
If this doesn't work then you may need to purchase a new stick.
ii have it formatted to fat32 but when i plug tto my tv it says not applicable ,,thatss a mp4 viddeo
But your drive was originally 64 GB in capacity (2:05) but after you format it to FAT32 it reduces to 32 GB (8:27). Is there any way to keep the original 64 GB capacity after the format? Windows has a limit that any drive greater than 32 GB can't be formatted to FAT32.
bobskie321 Don't worry it shouldn't reduce your drive to 32gb, I had to swap drives halfway through the video as I didn't want to format my 64gb drive as there was important stuff on it. It's just down to my poor video editing, good spot, by the way!
Thank you alot is works

I have a exfat device which is bought from Ebay.when we insert videos ,songs ,films to it ,they are erased automatically. Can you say the reason about it .please!!!!!
The stick may be a fake or faulty stick.
What if I use an sd card that is plugged into a usb for it can I still format it ?
I would think it would be the same as a USB stick, but I have never tried it so can't be 100% sure, let us know if it works.
Interesting that at 6min51sec the drive supposedly, before any changes were implemented, a 58 gb usb key is morphed in to a 28 gb usb key. Check it out.
Yes I had to swap drives.

Hi my hard drive is too large it says even with the seagate 1tb
mine is in fat32 but i keep getting error 23 in one radio and in the other radio in another car it will play .. what could that be
It could be that one of your car radios can only accept a certain type or size of SD Card or USB Stick.
i have recent found from a friend a chinese made usb stick wich it says its about 100giga....but after i enter some data about 10 giga whatever i insert something and i try it to my home the files says zero bytes!!!! what format should i use please this is urgent reply when you can ok? ://

Justin Elkins if you need it formatted to FAT32 then you will need to purchase a smaller drive 32gb or less
Chris Waite apparently mine was allready on FAT32 :D
Not true, you can easily format USB drives of nearly any size using a third party partition program such as Ease US Partition Master.
what if it doesn't show the USB drive once it's plugged in ?
Then either there is a problem with the USB ports on your computer or the drive itself, try a different USB Port if that doesn't work try a different USB drive, if that still does not work, then you will need to get your computer looked at to check the USB ports.
help, I click right click on removable disk and than left on format but nothing happened. Help!

why can you not format a 64GB flash drive to a FAT32?
Plus has anyone bought a game...like Costume Quest Games? I bought both and for some darn reason It
won't let me play the first one..and Costume 2 I've paid for it and now it wants me to re-pay $14.99...and it doesn't show on my History Down Loads..I played it beat it and wanted to re-play both of them and I can't.
+Joseph Elphick FAT32 is a very old type of file system that was never really designed for drives that are more than 32gb due to cluster sizes, probably best google FAT32 limit as it does get rather technical.
the man who did the clip showing how to format a flash drive into a FAT32 was more of a help then the guys at the Live chat Support. I wan't able to get the data to transfer from one system onto the next. I manually had to select each file seperatly.Doing it the other way it would tap out at 31% every time. It took me 3 days to try to get it to work before I gave up. I got what I needed off the other one at least.Thank you for responding to my plea for help.

quite a few usb pen drives come pre-formatted to FAT32
I went back and this time got a FAT32 32GB flash drive and it still won't work I get an error 80010083 error code comes up..I had to delete a lot of crap to get it down so it will fit on it and it won't work taps out at 31% why what is wrong with this piece of crap..I've never had this problem when I transfered the old data off the 1st PS3 that came out all I needed was a DSL/Ethernet cord to do it and it worked..It didn't work this time it taps out at 21%..Is why I went to a USB 32GB that wasn't FAT32 formatted so I went and got a 64GB that too didn't work.So I went back and got the FAT32 32GB flash drive and I deleted a lot and it still won't allow me to back my shit up on this one. Anyone out there who had this problem pls help everything I am trying isn't working. and Im so ready to throw it out the F;n window. Sounds like your using an external hard drive instead of a USB stick, you can only officially format to Fat32 on volumes no larger than 32gb some people have found they can go further but it's doubtful you will be able to go as far as 2tb of you need Fat32 then you will need a smaller drive.
