- A ROYAL expert has said she was appalled by the US reaction to Princess Kate being "missing".
The Princess of Wales, 42, revealed she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video message last week.
The announcement came following weeks of intense speculation and conspiracy theories on social media about the whereabouts and health of Kate.
Throngs of celebs and internet trolls who peddled bizarre speculation about Kate's whereabouts then rushed to apologise.
Royal commentator Dickie Arbiter's daughter Victoria, who spends much of her time in the US, discussed the attitude across the Atlantic after the brave footage.

No amount of money removes the emotional impact of those events in a persons life. The social media bullying was cruel and irresponsible of reporters and celebrities.

I’m an American. I don’t understand why anyone cares what Hollywood personalities have to say. They “act” for a living and thrive on being in the spotlight. What really upset me was the many presenters/news casters jumped on the sick narrative. I absolutely will no longer watch ANY of them again and some I have routinely watch for a long time. It won’t make a difference to them that I tune them out but it is a firm stand that I feel strongly about…I don’t support any adult that can be so ugly with their commentary aimed towards anyone dealing with a serious medical issue.

I agree completely. They go over the jokes and such before the live show. He had the chance to veto that tasteless “joke” which wasn’t one. I would love to see how he would react if his beloved wife, Evie, were accused of having an affair or alternatively, if he were to be accused of having one himself. Wow. @@sangeet9100 Not clear if you are aiming this at Catherine, but if you are: she didn't put out the photo for publicity, she put it out for Mother's Day, as has been her tradition for several years past, and to thank the public for their good wishes to her in her illness; she doesn't live off public funds, as she and her family are funded by the Duchy of Cornwall, a private income stream - much of the profits of which they donate to the public exchequer, by the way; and a person fulfilling a public role still has the same rights as the rest of us to their human dignity, and medical privacy. Catherine herself is unfailingly courteous and polite to the public and the press people she meets, so it would have been nice to give her the same treatment in her time of need. Simple reality.

As an American I am embarrassed and ashamed of the way the media and celebrities talked and acted regarding the Princess Catherine. I am glad that these people don’t represent me or most of the good American people.
The shame and embarrassment should also be extended members of the British media who after William pulled out of a Remembrance Day for his godfather, at the last minute plus the Mother’s Day photo was killed by the AP, started themselves freaking out and actually going after both William & Catherine. The British media planted several seeds. If they are truly not aware how social media, in particular Twitter/X works then I feel bad for them. If we are going the shame the Americans who participated, then shame the Brits who participated as well.
Besides the shame the Americans narrative is to distract from the real issue. Not everyone fully trusts that the palace prioritizes the well being of outside women within the institution. I sure don’t. Those with good intention are trying to go back in time to “save Diana” and are legit wondering if Catherine is okay because look what they did to the other women when we were all watching.

I also think the British press should take a serious look at themselves. They just couldn't stop speculating and questioning, despite the announcement from the Wales early in the year, the Princess of Wales whereabouts and "real health condition". I think, more than the empty vessels celebs, they (the press) have more responsibility in this issue becoming as big as it did.
The British MSM were mostly dreadful too, once it got going they just jumped on the bandwagon and started the bullying about the 'PR disaster' of the Mother's Day photo and 'Kate' having to 'come clean' about her medical situation - as though, by implication, KP was hiding something and that the rumours were, therefore, accurate. I do agree. They don't seem to realise that this whole episode was about not giving her any respect as a human being, never mind that which is due to her position as the future queen. She may well be 'Kate' within her family group, but formally, outside the family, she is Catherine, or the Princess of Wales, to people who don't know her personally. I have been a long time subscriber, and the night he did that monologue I roundly criticized him in the comments, as did many others. The back lash was immediate from even his fans, because we thought it completely inappropriate of him to peddle complete lies as part of a “comedic act”.

The photo editing furore was so out of proportion. We see edited photos of celebs all the time.
For one, I am ashamed at how my country has been acting in treating, talking or joking about Royals (or cancer itself). But we are not all like that.
Two, unless you have walked in the shoes of someone with cancer (been told they have) or a caregiving (like William will be during treatment). You have NO clue, and you act or show yourself like a complete idiot.
I felt there was more to the surgery, but I just went through 2 abdomenal surgeries for one of my cancers. And during my treatments my husband was my caregiving while holding on to full time job at 63.
Am so proud of William and Catherine. I send them so much healing and blessing for smooth quick recovery.

Blake Lively's statement was most assuredly not an apology to the Princess of Wales. To characterise as such is disingenuous. Not one of the American celebrities truly apologised.
It really annoys me that people like Colbert can spout such utter nonsense that has done nothing but stir up the media frenzy over Princesses Catherine’s health and lift their giant pay cheque at the end of the month. We should be hearing more of what the RF do. There are those who say the Monarchy is irrelevant these days; I disagree. The Prince’s Trust is the shining example. Have any politicians or political parties or talk show host ever set up an organisation like this. Yet we don’t hear much about their beneficial works.

Kate was not bullied into making the video - she’s smarter than that. She made a conscious choice for the benefit of her children… not to respond to social ‘stupid’ media. Kate wanted to speak her words her way and at the right time. God bless Kate for a speedy recovery and the beautiful soul she is. Strength and admiration for William for carrying such a heavy load with dignity, grace and integrity showing the character of a King to be.

Princess Catherine of Wales is no longer Kate Middleton. There is too much intrusion into the lives of these beloved members of our Royal Family. What privilege? Their lives are lives of Service to the Nation and to the Community and every time they are seen, they have to bear being gossiped about. Especially the women and their clothing and the value of the clothed and jewels they wear. Continually analysed. It is sickening to have to read many assumptions and opinions. Those criticising, should get a life! These people in public life are full of commitment and continual representation of our Nation, and it has been a tragedy over the past several years to read what this young woman has had to put up with. Now she has bern and still is seriously ill, and instead of support, appreciation and love, cruel words often try to undermine her. Princess Catherine together with Prince William do a wonderful job and do noy have the freedom ever to walk down a street unnoticed. We who are unknownv are privileged. We who don't have our diaries full of commitments weekly for the next year, we who are not continually looked at
William has done so much. He reminds me of Prince Philip, Princess Catherine reminds me of the queen. William has a lot of on his shoulders he goes out to engagements, attending to his children, his wife, his dad, he was there when the queen & Prince Phillip died. He has a lot on his shoulders. He will make a good king one day. I heard it will be sooner rather than later. That would be over his shoulders aswell. May god bless their family during this difficult time.
We live in a developed society, but it is hypocritical and superficial. Whoever follows the character of Prince William discovers how committed this man is to the laws, committed to customs, committed to his respect for his wife, his family, and his country. And according to his word, he is the Crown Prince, that he is honest enough not to harm his wife.
If he does not respect anyone, at least he respects his wife and his family. This person was suffering because of the disintegration of the family. I mean, he lived with his mother’s suffering during her divorce, so it is impossible for him to repeat the same mistake, on the contrary.
He always reflects that he is the father, that he is the leader, that he is the brother, that he is the friend, and that he is the shepherd of everyone who deserves help. This person or man deserves respect. I wish him lasting success.
Sometimes I feel it's boring because they are more committed than logical. He is a human being who follows all the healthy and correct steps in life, according to what I think.

What a positive interview. The discussion of past events such in such a respectful manner. I think it was particularly poignant to acknowledge what Prince William is going through emotionally. His grandmother the late Queen would be so impressed as he has epitomised “keep calm and carry on”. He has absorbed all the positive influences in his life to overcome tragedy and dedicate himself to the service of his family and his people.
