    To those who are incapable of trading: Damn really? My condolences. For you Nidoking is best in Gen 1, Ampharos best in Gen 2.
    To those complaining I picked Nidoking despite overlapping with Venusaur, yet disqualified other Pokemon for overlapping types: As I said in the video, the Poison type does not matter for offense, so neither of these Pokemon really even need their Poison typing. It makes them share a weakness to Psychic, but that is the only drawback. Nidoking's VAST movepool more than makes up for that overlap, like how later in the video I talk about Mega Lucario's power making up for overlapping with Chesnaught. Venusaur and Nidoking are both Poison types but do very different things. Overlaps that aren't okay are ones where the Pokemon do the same things. Hariyama is a good Fighting type...and so is Blaziken. They fill the same role, so the typing overlap matters.

      I feel as though the overlap doesn't really apply to Incineroar and Alolan Muk, though, since they share only a weakness to Ground, and the poison type offsets Alolan Muk's common ground with Incineroar.

      @@demi-femme4821 True there's not much overlap defensively, but the Dark type offense matters more. They'd both be filling the role of Dark type offense, whereas with Venusaur and Nidoking, there's a very solid chance they don't even run Poison attacks since only three fully-evolved Pokemon in Gen 3 Kanto are weak to it.

  • @BlackPawn14
    @BlackPawn14 Před rokem +119

    One that I absolutely love to use, especially in Nuzlockes, is Gyarados.
    Yes, it is a pain in the ass to level up. Yes, its typing is awkward in Gen 3 and before. On the other hand... it still has a solid enough physical moveset (that gets even better after the physical-special split, which allows it to use its STAB moves), which allows it to use its INSANE base stats. Plus, Intimidate is brilliant for managing any physical threats. But there's more: in the lategame, it learns Dragon Dance, which can make it basically no-diff some of the hardest battles in the games if given a chance to set up a sweep.
    Then there's the fact that, in Nuzlockes in particular, it is extremely easy to get it: just toss an old rod at the nearest pond in any city (or one of the ten million water routes in Hoenn, if you use Repel to save their encounters), and you get a free Magikarp. So, if you lose your Gyarados in battle, you can have multiple backups!
    I understand that it doesn't make the list because it's a Water-type, and that clashes with the starters. Still, if you don't start with a Water-type, Gyarados can easily break the game.

    • @onursenduran961
      @onursenduran961 Před rokem +18

      Not putting Gyarados in such a video buffles me. Magicarp is easy to catch so you can get the best nature easily. Easy to train since it needs only level 20. If you have exp share that is nothing. Only it is a little grindy if you want it at the start of the game. Stat wise it is a monster.

    For anyone who plays gen 1 and 2 on emulators here's how to trade pokemon:
    1. Open the options menu and go to the Link Local option.
    2. Open another game and go to a PC to the trade lady.
    3. Talk to the clerk and while she starts talking open the options and switch back to the other game and do the same.
    4. Once you are able to get through the menus you'll get the prompt on both games to enter the trade room.
    5. Select the pokemon you want to trade, going back and forth between the games on the Link Local tab until you've finished trading.
    It may take a couple of tries to get the timing down but once you get into the trade room your good. I haven't tried this with the gba emulator but I'm sure someone out there has figured it out. Enjoy your Alakazams and Gengars everyone.

    For the Alola region I would still pick Alolan Muk as a must as it is bulky, with minimize it can be extremely evasive, give it Black Sludge and it becomes a threat equal to Snorlax with Leftovers. It learns good moves such as minimize and poison fang early on. This means that even without a type advantage in most cases it can effectively poison, stall, heal itself and be a wall. I loved this video, great job!

They both have higher attack and Dodrio is actually faster then Pidgeot while Fearow has a speed of 100 compared to Pidgeot's speed of 101 which basically means they're the same speed. Plus as I said Drill Peck is one of the best flying type moves and it so happens to be a physical attack something Fearow and Dodrio have over Pidgeot. They can deal more damage and they are essentially faster to compensate for their crappy defense skills. All 3 learn practically the same coverage moves although again Fearow and Dodrio can use those moves better as they are mostly Physical attacks. Pidgeot just cannot compare unless you mega evolve it and even then that's just a waste of a turn considering the likelihood that Mega Pidgeot can be taken out in 1 turn by a super effective move like most other flying types.

    It would be cool to see a video about the best Pokémon you can get early in most games. For example. Gengar and crobat are accessible relatively early in almost every Pokémon game and while they aren’t necessarily the best for any specific region, they are a really great addition to any early game team since they have access to ghost, dark, psychic, and poison type moves, which aren’t abundant early game. I find that Gengar is also extremely good late game if you combine the wide lens, hypnosis, nightmare, and dream eater. It’s overkill for most of the games, but perfect for the elite four.

    Kadabra was amazing in gen 1. I often had it on my team for Gen 1 and 2. Even without its final form, it was still a beast. Although, I sometimes use Espeon for G/S/C instead.
    If Abra is too hard to catch, it is also available at the game corner in Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, AND Crystal for 200 coins or less. (That's the Rocket Game Corner for R/B/Y, and the Goldenrod City Game Corner for G/S/C).
    If you have Pokemon Stadium 2, a level 5 Abra with Psychic and the 3 elemental punches is a monster in the Little Cup.
    Also, if you want an Alakazam with the elemental punches in Gen 1, you can trade a Kadabra to Gen 2, use the TMs, then trade it back.

    In my Y playthrough, as soon as I got access to Eevees and breeding, I got myself a team of Eeveelutions (Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon and Sylveon) and used those throughout the rest of the game.
    Fully EV-trained them and rose their friendship and affection to max before using stones and leveling up once (they all had Charm as well) to get a lvl 1 Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon, and a lvl 2 Umbreon, Espeon and Sylveon.
    Then I just boosted them in the grass until they were high lvl enough to continue where I left off.
    Espeon was a fricking beast with its high SP. ATK and having maxed it out. Sylveon was pretty good too. The three stones... meh.
    Umbreon was okay, but the two pink ones were BEASTS!

    • @Rubywing4
      @Rubywing4 Před 3 lety +7

      @@elscherix3099 Yeah, Sylveon wiped out the opposing Pokémon with Moonblast, freaking strong Fairy attack.
      For some reason I thought it would be fun/make sense to max out one stat of each Eeveelution, specifically the stat they are highest in.
      So I maxed out Espeon's SP. ATK, Flareon's ATK, Vaporeon's HP, Jolteon's Speed, Sylveon's SP. DEF and Umbreon's DEF (I know Umbreon's highest stat is SP. DEF, but I wanted Umbreon on my team rather than Leafeon, who for some reason has the highest DEF among the Eeveelutions).
      I realize now I was a complete fool XD
      I also have realized that's why Espeon and Sylveon were my best ones while Flareon was wasted with the ATK stat (why does the Fire type have the highest ATK stat, when it mainly uses SP attacks?!), and while Jolteon with max speed was probably good, Vaporeon with max HP and Umbreon with max DEF didn't do much for their combat expertise...
      Also, when I later at the end of the game checked their IVs, Sylveon was judged with the best IVs among my Eeveelution team. The others... were not so good. Espeon's might have been a bit better than the others' but Sylveon was my strongest.
      Next time I decide to do a playthrough with Eeveelutions, I must try to just raise their ATK/SP. ATK and Speed and see how much stronger they will be then.
      Shedinja made me realize that DEF, SP. DEF and HP don't really matter much. It's SP. ATK or ATK and Speed that really matter.
      I think it's weird that, since Shedinja only has 1 HP, that its DEF and SP. DEF are higher than 1. Like, they don't even work, the stat points are kinda wasted on defense.
      If they had just made HP, DEF and SP. DEF all 1 and put everything else into ATK and SP. ATK (and maybe Speed too), Shedinja could do so much better.
      Also, Shedinja is the most ideal Pokémon for catching Kyogre (in Alpha Sapphire anyway), since Kyogre can't hurt it, Struggle does nothing and prolly won't hurt Kyogre either, and Shedinja can learn False Swipe and Heal Block, which works well against Aqua Ring. I helped my brother train a Shedinja via trading so he could catch his Kyogre that way.
      And I just went from talking about Sylveon to talking about Shedinja in the same comment. XD

      When I was younger, I didn't know how to get a Shedinja. I even looked at Serebii.net, but I didn't understand what they meant by "Free slot in party" or something. I dunno.
      Eventually though I found out and I got one easily.
      It's kind of fun that you get 2 Pokémon by evolving 1. And that the Shedinja even has the same IVs and is even Shiny if the Nincada was! (I think, at least...)
      I also began to see Shedinja in a different light after playing Undertale. Shedinja is basically Sans. XD (Which would make Papyrus a Ninjask? Hm...)
      I also mainly used a Ninjask in Alpha Sapphire instead of my starter. The fastest Pokémon in the game (without form changing) is pretty cool to fight with.
      I've been considering breeding the Pokémon with some of the highest respective stats in the game, such as Rampardos for attack (or Ninjask for speed) and then try to get best IVs in that specific stat, and then max the EV of the stat to see how powerful the Pokémon would get.
      Though that would probably be a bit too much effort on my part, and I don't think I have enough time to do that XD

    I think Lanturn should have been the pick for Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald bc of its Ability Volt Absorb to gain health when attacked by an Electric move

      Good Pokémon, great ability, but bad timing. You literally can’t get one in Hoenn until after the 7th Badge, which really sucks.

      Competitively though, you'd actually want pressure over Mirror Armor.

    Why does it bother me whenever Michael says, "times accuracy?" I thought it was just called x accuracy

      It bothers a lot of people actually. Seen the comments on the vid where he reacts to the WR pokemon red speed run? And yes, it's x accuracy, you're not wrong.

      because x in math can be used to multiply things like: 2 times 2 is the same as 2 x 2, so he is not reading x like the letter but like the symbol in math.

    • @aiezar
      @aiezar Před 3 lety

      K9 normal math people usually use an asterisk or dot to convey multiplication, due to X also being the symbol used for the variable in most cases

      @@aiezar 'x' is still used in cases like 100x magnification (read 'one hundred times magnification'); nobody writes 100* magnification. I assume it's this sort of usage that Michael is basing his pronunciation off of.
