The Cuban people fought with courage waiting and praying for the US to help them. You do not support the Cuban people if you support the Dictatorship that is the Cuban government. 2:50 "Cuba's communist uprising begins the next year" (1952). This isn't correct. The uprising (The 26th of July Movement) was certainly revolutionary, but was in no way communist in 1952. In fact, Fidel didn't officially declare the communist nature of the Cuban Revolution until 1961. Great video, though!

The Philippines share a common history with Cuba on how they fought against the colonial power of the Spanish Empire during the last part of the 19th century. In 1898, with the help of the Americans during the Spanish-American war, the Philippines gained its "independence" albeit with the auspices of the Americans. Dealing with "new colonialism" and eventually gaining self-governance are the struggles that the Philippines and Cuba share. It's just interesting to note the paths that different ideologies made for their respective destinies.

No, this channel DEFINITELY has a bias. I'm certainly not saying that they're bad; as a matter of fact, I love their videos. And MOST of them aren't biased... except for the political ones like this. This one is discussing foreign policy of the U.S, and it is VERY left-leaning in how they present the facts. By the end of the video, they try to say that lifting the embargo is the best thing for both Cuba and the U.S, and that's the liberal/Democratic argument. Most conservatives believe that we need to keep the embargo in place because if we open up relations with Cuba again, the people of Cuba aren't going to get the money: the Cuban gov't is (because hello, communism). Also, I didn't like that they didn't discuss the human rights violations of the Cuban people, the way the government controls every aspect of the Cuban people's lives, and how they can legally only earn about 40 U.S. dollars a month.

Just a few mistakes due to time constraint need to be set right.
1 - Castro did not lead a communist uprising. Castro lead a nationalist uprising. Many of the key personnel during the Cuban Revolution would be in exile, including Osvaldo Dorticós and Juanita Castro.
2 - Diplomacy between US and Cuba deteriorated as Cuba nationalized some key sectors that were in the hands of wealth americans. Including gambling.
3 - Altough there were talks between the rebels, now revolutionaries and US to stop violance no side managed to agree in what to do with key personel from Fugencio Batista.
4 - USSR was the key player in scalating the revolution. There were talks in US higher rank to make a full invasion of Cuba. Seeking retribution for the missiles at Turkey USSR approached Cuba and installed missiles to guarantee the revolution would be a red revolution.
5 - When US became aware that there was little room to manuever circa 1961 they decided to block Cuba. The blockage started in february 1962.
