It didn't need fixing. It served its purpose for me several times.

that dune popcorn bucket probably was not fail ... they apparently got a lot of marketing out of "wrong design"

The one reason I don't get it is that it would make retrieving popcorn fairly difficult. From a functionality side, it does seem like a fail

You have to understand that a team of artists created it before the manufacturing engineers modified it. Artists. Artists that now feel very very bad about their work.

They knew EXACTLY what they were doing with the Shai Hulussy 😂

Shai Hulussy design is better because it uses a 3rd of the material, packs and transports more cheaply, and gets 1000x more marketing. Great vid though!

It was made like that on purpose.. to cause this reaction. Thinking it wasn't is just being naive.

Umm… that looks hideous. I also don’t get why people think this design was some kind of mistake. They sold TONS of those tins, as I’m certain they knew they would.

The "old" design is how it is described in the books. I have no idea why they changed it or where did they get the idea for the new one.

Dune movie from the '70s?? Whoah whoah. Don't age me prematurely. I'm old enough as it is.
Also, the original worm was hella suggestive.

Clearly this was done on purpose. I’m actually shocked you think this needed “fixing”.
It’s called marketing. Phalic references are a well known design pattern. Look at the “big horn” logo of dodge trucks or the Joe camel from those cigarette ads. The ad campaign costed hundreds of thousands supporting a movie for hundreds of millions- as a marketing studio, you do whatever you can get away with to get people to look at what your client is trying to show off.

Of course, your fix requires Universal to agree to let their IP be used to promote a Warner Brothers movie, which seems... improbable. Because while the Herbert estate probably owns the IP on those books covers, WB will own the IP on the movie images, and Universal would have an uphill battle convincing a judge that this was okay.
