Oh, good! We hope you enjoy your trip to Greece. We loved it there. You'll definitely see more videos from us over the next year :)
Nice video! About the Parthenon on the Athenian Akropolis, since you mention the money it would cost to build it today: It was dedicated to the goddess Athena, and it once contained a 12 meter (~40 feet) high statue of her, constructed of ivory and wood. The statue wore garments made of pure gold, which were temporarily removed when there was the risk of an attack on Athens. Some say that the statue with golden garments was more valuable than the Parthenon temple around it. Parts of the Parthenon were also once colorfully painted, with some bright red and blue elements adding to the white of the marble that now remains.
As for how they moved the huge pieces: The Greeks had actually invented wooden cranes with pulleys (this can be said because older mediterranean cultures were not known to have them). With a cleverly designed pulley system, it's possible to manually move stones weighing many tons, albeit quite slowly. Even modern systems essentially work by the same principles, minus the muscle power. Of course they had other neat tricks for how they positioned the stones correctly etc., but as far as the stones getting up there, it's the first known use of cranes with pulleys, invented in Greece around 600 BC.
Excellent vlog!
