If you go back to Athens visit Lukumades again and try the filled Lukumades (basically Lukumades with a choice of fillings, sweet or savoury), I had some with lemon cream filling and they were sooo good! I'd also recommend visiting Thessaloniki in northern Greece, it's a beautiful city and has amazing food too!

It has the Temple of Aphaia , the only known temple to that Goddess, and just off the south of the island there is the uninhabited island of Moni. You can get a boat across to it from Perdika and it has lots of wild peacocks & deer just wandering around the beach & woods, it's an amazing place (there arevideos on CZcams of it).

    Loukoumades with honey is the most popular version. But the real pros put ''petimezi'' on their loukoumades. Petimezi is a syrup made from wine must. Its very sweet and has a wine-ish aftertaste. Its not easy to access good petimezi, thats why ''commercial'' version of loukoumades is always with honey. If you ever try it, you will never go back.

    I hope you'll make it to Greece again sometime in the future. Then you can ask for some ground cinnamon or powdered chocolate sprinkled over the cream of that freddo cappuccino. It will add an extra layer of tastiness to the coffee.
    I'm also very happy you took the time to take a good look at the mini-museum that it is Syntagma square underground station. It is so frustrating to me when people pass by and don't even realize what lies literally in front of their eyes.

      Why are there so much graffitis in Athens?🤔

    • @Iomar1975
      @Iomar1975 Před 4 lety +3

      @@holyfox94 Although it would seem that always some people felt they were entitled to paint graffitis wherever they wanted to, claiming they wanted to "brighten the grey surroundings of the city", this was elevated to a problem as a result of the financial troubles the country is in for the past decade. This is when the so-called Antifa and other left-leaning groups literally flooded every centimeter of space available around the city with their slogans, and with them came the artists, genuine and self-proclaimed.

    • @holyfox94
      @holyfox94 Před 4 lety +1

      Iomar1975 Thanks. I thought it has something to do with the left/ anarchos.
      I hope they don’t tag the ancient sites.
      Nothing against well done murals.
      But this tagging everywhere is horrible.
      Reminds me of dogs marking their tree.

    • @Iomar1975
      @Iomar1975 Před 4 lety +2

      @@holyfox94 They have no respect for the ancient sites since they consider them nationalistic, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn they tagged some as well. It is exactly that, dogs marking what they consider to be their trees with absolute disregard for what anybody else thinks.
      What drives me up the wall is that they fancy themselves superior to us petty-bourgeois, when in reality they are nothing but illiterate children that can barely parrot what they consider their ideology and are only drawn to the violence it entails.
      As far as murals are concerned, there is or there should be a line drawn between using some space for this activity and flooding the whole city with drawings whose artistic value is questionable at best.

    We kind of simplify it by writing it as 'gyros', as it's kind of closer to the original Greek spelling 'γύρος', but if you want to pronounce it the right way and sound almost like a native Greek, it's something like "YEE-ROSS", the 'yee' part pronounced the way the word 'see' does, but obviously with a 'y' instead of an 's', and 'ross', pronounced like the 'sauce' with an 'r'. Just say it with authority, like yeeeeeross!

      @@KeepGoingPlaces Well, Greek is quite a complex language, let's just say that it depends on the situation ; if you are to ask for it, you just have to entirely skip the "S" at the end, we just say it "yee-raw", the exact same way that 'raw' is pronounced in English (e.g. raw vegetables), more like 'law' with an 'r', it doesn't sound like "row", you've got to barely say it, just emphasize on the 'yee' part. "Yee-raw" 😜😜
