Develop Punching Power (Without Equipment)

- Most beginners want to know how to increase their punching power... so I feel I have to open with this disclaimer:
DON’T OVER-CONCERN YOURSELF WITH POWER; TECHNIQUE/TIMING/ACCURACY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN POWER.
That being said, if you feel your technique is properly developed, let’s discuss 5 ways to increase your punching power:
1. Rotational Torque
2. Leg Drive & Balance
3. Acceleration & Velocity
4. Impact
5. Technique

1. Bas Twists - 3 x 1 min (2:30)
2. 180 Jump Squat - 3 x 12-20 (4:17)
3. Split Jump Lunges - 3 x 12-20 (4:56)
4. Plyo Push-ups - 3 x 12-20 (6:00)
5. Chin-ups - 3 x ~80% of your max (Or dead hangs) (8:30)
6. Pick a punch - practice it with perfect from, A LOT, with brief pause at full extension (suggest at least 50 reps per for this routine)
Do this 3+ times a week, I’ll be adding it to the end of my lifts for extra cardio+practice, as boxing isn’t my main focus currently.
Thanks Shane!
You can add a light weight not too heavy or your muscle memory will actually decrease your speed..half pound to 2 to 3 pound depending on your natural weight and muscle mass, the static hold at full extension with a small weight you can grip..my trainer when I was young made weighted wrist straps and said to add an extra second of static hold at full extension every ten punches and don't hold some just throw it and mix in the static hold..don't make a pattern of the hold or your muscle adjusts to it then it loses its benefit..keep me guessing and your lean fast twitch muscle will form faster and for striking instead of bulky slow muscle that can throw your technique off..learned it from my trainer, he was a 3 time regional golden glove champ b4 someone shot him mistaking him for his brother who was in a set that had a 3 year long terminate on sight rivalry with another..days of the drive by cowards..most their bullets hit the wrong person..
Tq bro
@@hadiffauzian-nilaiyiyo9701 no problem..its not a big secret but its something alot dont utilize into their ttaining...the results are worth it..if you feel its not helping u need to find the right pound..i preferreed to warm up my arms with a few ponds..not for technquique just to warm up the muscles then switch to one with shadow box then shadowbox without weight..you want to build muscle memory om your form but you dont want a workout routine to become repetitive..some weight lifters wonder why their gains stop at a point. Its because they are not mixing it up..their muscles asjusted to the pattern. Fundamentals are guidelines not barriers. The greatest boxers knew this. Take good care of your hands..im not even old and i get cramps and arthritis..a good wrap even during bag and nitt work can save you pain in the long run..
@@freethinker9153 hey bro could the bas twits hurt my back even if i do it with perfect form?
does the vid work guys pls respond
This man really taught me to fight since middle school and I still rely on his teachings.
How old are you now, if you don't mind sharing.
@@sheneedsyrruup I’m just going to say that I’m in college rn
@@ajgb7 wow, that was far long now
Same
I just graduated college but I relied on his teachings in high school. Good luck in school.
Perfect timing
They say timing beat speed..
@@38kal they also say that accuracy beats power.
@@SG-xy6hf 💯
They also say that size doesn’t matter, but everyone knows it’s not a lie.
Why you planning on punching your Rottweiler or sum?
From the second 0:33 to 0:34 he gave us a sneak peak about how the new gym gonna look like , he did it for less than a second but i catched you bastard ❤️😂
I played it on x0.25 lol
play in slowmotion you can see the picture clear haha:}
It was just a mere coincidence but when I took out my left AirPod, it paused on the new gym look
You can go frame by frame with the < and > keys on a keyboard. lol Nothing gets by us Shane.
Only an underdog can find that. 🤓🧐💪😄

Shane is a very good instructor. I do these everyday and at my age 85 y.o. I do suffer some setbacks but I don't quit. After 3 months of this I was able to beat up every resident in the Nursing Home where I reside.
OMG 3:20 IT WAS LIKE BABY ARMS HAHAHAHA
NICE video Aniway 💪🏻🗿🥋
Literally I swear I’ve learned so much from you to the point of when I joined a mma gym some people thought I was already a pro fighter very grateful for your content
Fr
@Greg W well no it’s not a lie I should of worded it better I actually trained mma boxing and jujitsu for almost 2 years but he had a lot of tips that helped me and the knowledge of what I’ve seen in the videos carried over into actual training I just didn’t want to have to explain all this
@Greg W also wouldn’t of said that if I didn’t actually train that would of just been dumb trust me I work my ass off in the gym I wouldn’t say some shit like that to lie to make people believe me I don’t need to do that
@Greg W I just summed it up because people truly did think I had a lot of experience prior to being there because I was a boxer before I joined that gym to clarify my comment I wouldn’t disrespect fighting like that for the other people like us that put blood sweat and tears in that shit
And then everybody clapped
Shane helping us train both punching power and reaction time/hand-eye coordination trying to stop the video frame by frame to see a glimpse at the future gym lol
turn it to 0.25
@@peebleshamster5189 No man, trying to use my reflexes is way more fun lol

I purchased both the medium czcams.com/users/postUgkxfh2XUOHWYHKQYOvSq2gZ6PyCmVkTFGWz and small speed bags from Meister. I'm very glad I got both as the workout is quite different from the two. The small is fantastic for getting your speed built up once familiar with your striking. The medium bag provides a considerable amount more resistance building more strength in your punches. I highly recommend both sizes. Some people have expressed concern over the latex bladder leaking down more frequently than the traditional rubber. I have not found this to be an issue at all.
Hi there,
tiny tip to build iron-forearms: learn walking upside-down!
Your triceps, forearms and hand muscles will benefit hugely by doing this.
At the beginning don't exhaggerate, cause you could get harm...after some weeks of training (even few minutes avery other day) you'll sense you got a strong hand-shake and a very tough forearm muscle
@@yaxh13 he means handstand walks
What if you're in Australia?
Is a upside down walking still doable?
I don't want the person to fall off the earth!
@@Menaceblue3 Gravity keeps everything connected to the earth.
I did wall walks may b second time in my life yesterday .... I can feel my grip got slightly stronger ... I can sense that ... Not sure if really grip strength has improved
@Lalchungnunga Ralte thanks m8 💪
You helped me gain confidence an strength at a time in my life when I was very weak an low now I do things I could never imagine thank you.

I focused on technique, I used to suck at punching despite being big guy . As I got better with technique i hit harder and faster but not trying to hit hard. I also have been running more and I watched video where you were taught how to use weight clicker, so when I run itry to have little bit of rotation with my hips and hands like doing running hooks.
Very nice. Keep going man
U need to jog and do more road work- it makes your entire body more loose the more you jog
Look up ballistic striking for deep power punches.
Yessir technique is power
@Lxnkzi all of which come from utilizing proper punching mechanics deontay may not look pretty but he knows how to punch
