There are two very interesting fights you haven't mentioned, with Karl Albrektsson and Brandon Halsey, wrestlers who took Jiri down and held for some time, and Jiří was frustrated and showed some of his madness, but eventually knocked out both fighters.

Jiri is a true life "Bimmy" Lee from Double Dragon. You can hear the patented DD flying knee sound effect everytime he throws his knee.
You have to watch Jiri against Vadim Nemkov, the Bellator Champion, this fight was crazy. I was exhausted just from watching this pace.
The one where he looks extra big that was a heavyweight fight. His walk around weight is about ~100kg 225-230lbs which is what he fought at here as he didn’t need to cut to 93kg 205lbs that’s why he looked extra jacked in those fights because he wasn’t as depleted as usual from the cut
He's not jsut bigger he has way more muscle and is leaner, PED's for sure
I mean, there might be other reasons too. His opponents looked pretty yoked too. Lot of times there's none, or very predictable testing in those european/asian promotions.

I feel like Jiri is going to attempting a lot of those flying knees against Glover. Since Jiri is very tall and has long legs and knows Glover also wrestles. I wouldn't be surprised if Jiri knocks him out with a flying knee.
He's also the only guy I've seen who throws them after a level change. Same with his front kicks, he goes low and then comes up high with a front kick.its not just that he is creative, but what separates him from a lot of guys with an unorthodox style is that he applies that creativity to solid fundamentals like going low and atacking high.
I dont believe Glover will get hit by a flying knee, Jiri will attempt it but Glover is to well rounded and experienced - but hey, Tony Ferguson got his face kicked in to orbit by the person no one would have believed to do it..so im open and ready for saturday.
the uppercut is gonna be key as well, but yeah I could see a flying knee landing tbh. but probably just rock glover a bit and he will shoot for a takedown afterwards most likely.

Talked to him few years ago NY Japan he told me he reads book of 5 Rings before fights and I told him I read passages from the Hagakure I highlighted before fights. Seemed like a nice intelligent guy. I'm old and usually root for old man experience and power nowadays so either way I'll be happy Saturday. Used to see Glover over at Blackhouse.

Amazing insight as always, thank you! Jiri will be too much for Glover. Insane cardio (Rizin has 10-5-5 rounds btw), uppercut from hell, deadly elbows, kicks outta nowhere but most of all-you cant read him but he sure as hell can read you. One mistake and you are out.
some fights are 10min-5min but 2 rounds only and the others are 3 5 minute rounds.
i haven't seen the 10-5 in a couple years though

1. Rizin single matches - three rounds in length. The first round spans ten minutes with the final two rounds lasting five minutes each. This was discontinued starting with RIZIN.10 in May, 2018. Since then, matches have been three rounds of five minutes each.
2. Rizin tournament matches - three rounds in length, with each round lasting five minutes.
3. Women's matches - These are three rounds of five minutes.

I see folks acting like Jiri isn't a well-rounded vet in MMA. I decided to actually do research on him and went through all his wins, losses and his opponents, many of whom were also seasoned fighters who were/are successful in multiple organizations. Glover is elite for sure, but he isn't new to a guy like Jiri, especially after doing some training with Cejudo. He's seen the ground game before. He's not going to be taken down and flattened out with ease as I see some saying.
This will be a competitive fight for sure.
He's not going to be taken down with ease as you say, but if and when it does happen Glover puts it on him. Question is can Glover survive the standup to get it to that point
@@blazzz13 Read the rest of my comment though. I don't believe even if Jiri is taken down that Glover will simply have his way with him. Jiri is not a one dimensional fighter as folks think. He's not an inexeperienced or green fighter at all. He's fought people like this who are wonderful on the ground and have taken him down. And again, he's trained with Cejudo so that does matter as well.
Further, I don't like that people think Glover has to take it to the ground and needs to "survive" against Jiri on the feet. Glover is also fantastic on the feet as well. I've only seen him lose handily on the feet to Jones and Gustaffson, and he appears to have fixed those holes as a 42 year old. For all we know Glover may knock out Jiri. Glover is also well rounded.

@@DarthBalsamic I did read your comment. Now I'll add a bit more- I watched Jiri's fight against Nemkov. He was on his back for significant portions of that fight until Nemkov gassed out literally. Granted those 10minute rounds are mental so maybe Jiri was getting tired as well which makes the takedowns easier. Alternatively, I also watched Nemkov getting dominated on the mat by Anderson. Neither have a ground game anywhere near Glover's. I know MMA maths and all that, but Glover's ground game is second to none. This is why despite Jiri being well rounded, I don't think he will have enough to deal with Glover on the ground despite putting up resistance.

In one interview, he talks about how he trained one technique 24 hours in the woods. It reminds me of a saying from Bruce Lee "I am not afraid of a person who knows 10k kicks. But I am afraid of a person who knows one kick but practices it for 10k times". I have been following him since entering Rizina and I can say that Jiří develops with every match.

jiri is the most entertaining fighter in the division bar none. ferocious. what he did to Reyes was insane.
you mentioned the pace, that pace can be bad for Glover. But then again Glover experience is unmatched so it will be super interesting fight.
You should check the other fights, yes, the flying knee is keeping the high ko's count because of it.
I do agree that one bad habit that has persisted from his earlier career is how low his hands tend to sit. He has a great chin, but there's only so long that trait can persist before a fighter gets knocked out by just about anything. That said, he looks much leaner nowadays and I think that's a smart decision on his part to keep gas in the tank and stay agile.

Thats a cliche. Look how many times Glover has been knocked out and how much punishment he has taken, yet hes still fighting for the belt. Theres no "only so long" for Prochazka, he only has to pull this off ONCE MORE at 29 years of age, and then he might very well retire.
King Mo KO'ed Jiri, but Jiri fought against Vadim Nemkov full 10 minute round same day... and Vadim gave up after that round, so you can imagine how tired he had to be...

@@SonsOfDeForest I remember an interview where he honestly says that he felt like a Nemkov and was extremely exhausted and hoped that the Nemkov would give it up. But right after the round they looked at each other and Jiri told Nemk "let's do it", he told Nemkov that he could continue without any problems, he said in his head "I hope he will give up". :D

He is such a beast man. What a different look though, huh. Very diverse and unorthodox striking. He moves quick for his weight. I move around the gym with in-n-out movement quite often (I am also 6'3" and walk around at 220-236.) I'm fast compared to others at that particular weight. Like you said, that is quite an advantage at 205. Cardio, Speed, Power, and Technique will conquer all. Stay Up Brother!! ✌️🤙

Jiří has got great cardio from what I've seen... He had a crazy 10 minute round with Nemkov and Nemkov had to quit due to exhaustion and Jiří looked he could go another 10 minutes

Jiri has so many elements that we've seen from other fighters. He's got like Jones,Tony, Izzy, Woodley, oh and maybe LWH Colby(gas) and so many more in his kit. It's obvious the dude's taking what's good from everyone.
I've had my eye on Jiri for several years now. He has had some takedown D issues over the years but against better wrestlers than Glover. I don't think he will have an issue staying up here. I think he's going to overwhelm Glover and get the finish. When I look at the LHW landscape I think Jailton Almeida is the guy who will give him the most issues with the grappling and that's a match I'll be looking forward to in the future.

this was a super close and back and forth fight. but i think glover made that one vital mistake when he was rocking jiri so badly towards the end. he was winning with the judges and also had a finish opportunity. two options and it went away just like that.

It was nice to see Glover win the belt ( he has been fighting top opponents for a long time ), but Jiri is another type of beast. Glover has some good experience, good on the ground and heavy hands - Jiri has that buzz saw mentality with very creative striking and heavy hands - I think Jiri takes it via knockout -

I watched a video of John Dahaner talking about the basics of BJJ. In that video, he was talking about the fact that this discipline is basically about taking the fight to the ground and removing the threat of explosive energy. In this context, Jiri will face one of his toughest exams. May the best win. 🤜🤛
Several other fighters took Jiri to the ground successfully and held him for a while but he managed to get back up and knock each of them out. Dudes a monster

The angles that Jiri's strikes come from is crazy to me. Since he has those long arms he can tuck thots behind or around peoples guard from distances that seem too far, super interesting to see.
