- In this video we go over step-by-step how to deep clean your front load washing machine. I'm using an LG in this video, but the same can apply to most models. Cleaning it is recommended at least once a month to remove mold and smelly odors.
You'll want to focus on cleaning the pump filter, the rubber seals, the door, the detergent tray as well as the detergent tray housing. In this technique we use Active washing machine cleaner tabs and a mix of vinegar and water.

Thank you for this. Just moved and I have noticed a horrific smell from the washer. Now I know why the sellers had a diffuser going. I have the same model washer and I'm pretty sure it's never been cleaned. I'm terrified to go in lol. Wish me luck!
you can do it! It may take you a few washings with the cleaning tablets over a few weeks to completely remove the odors, so give yourself some time and patience. Once you get it all cleaned up, maintaining it periodically will help keep the odors away.
Thanks
Do not use vinegar! When rubber is exposed to vinegar, it can cause the rubber to swell and become soft due to the acidic nature of the vinegar. This can lead to a decrease in the strength and durability of the rubber, as well as discoloration. Your seals will wear out a lot faster and cause leaks if you use vinegar regularly.
I've read that what you say is true about not using vinegar in dishwashers and washing machines due to it can deteriorate the gaskets.
