I had the mk7.5 track. Loved every mile of it.
Already ordered mine!!
Fast! (that's you)
Ordered my Track Edition for my MK8 R yesterday. Can't wait.
So pumped for this! I loved the Switchpath on my Mk7 so I'm a little bummed about no valves but I'm sure it'll sound great either way.
This new evolution rendered a better result than the past. You'll be happy 💪
I'm in - Track Edition order goes in this weekend and I don't even get the 2024 Golf R Manual Trans until June! I know what a dork but I just can't wait!
None sense, buying parts before the car arrives is completely logical. Driving around with the stock exhaust is unfulfilling anyways. 💪
Right on!!!! @@awetuning
I need this! I wonder what the weight savings are between touring and track variants?
10.5 lbs.
Do you have videos with the car in race mode? Also has the sound actuator been completely turned off too?
We did not do any coding for the soundaktor. Only thing changed on the vehicle was the exhaust. The vehicle was toggled into "race" mode for the interior WOT segment.
May I ask how much is the Track exhaust and does it require any ECU tuning?
No tuning required. Pricing can be found here: awe-tuning.com/products/awe-exhaust-suite-for-mk8-vw-golf-r
The touring model does not appear to pop and have loud bangs, am I correct? Because that is exactly what it don't want.
They both burble/backtalk when in sport mode -- how much is just dependent on the amount of throttle given. Sometimes they pop, other time they sound like they're gurgling water :P.
I could be wrong, but it look like this golf R had an aftermarket downpipe installed with the exhaust. Does it have an aftermarket DP? …
Nope, all factory aside from the AWE configuration.
I want to retain OEM functionality so doing away with the electronic valves is a bummer :/
The valves are open on the OEM system quite often. Consider the Touring Edition, it really is the do it all exhaust for the R without all the fluff.
Are you guys gonna make a valved option?
They said no, it wasn’t worth it due to drone.
Nope! We finally decided to do what we've wanted since the Mk7 generation, and we're not looking back.
I will have one of these with the track exhaust by the end of the year. You should post a video with a manual, as that is the correct transmission on any performance car.
This is the way.
So does the track drone bad on the freeway?
Not as bad as one would expect thanks to the Mk8's formidable cabin insulation. It's always "on" whereas with the Touring Edition, it's more of a light switch effect -- meaning you hit a threshold and a constant speed and the exhaust note is not heard much over the road noise.
@@awetuning I’m so used to a baffled system with a remote so I can open and close at a wim but, that track edition is such a good value, it’s hard to pass up imo
@@Jvilleman400 go for it!
@@Jvilleman400 that was my thinking also... you can always drown out the drone with loud music. I ordered the Track Edition yesterday, and slapped a 10" powered sub in the trunk by Audison as soon as I got the R to fix the Harmon Kardon sub that came with it.
