As a 67 year old, it's so good to see young people enjoying real music.
Agree!
What's 'real' music by your definition? 🤨 Just because you don't enjoy something, doesn't make it inherently bad.. Either expand your horizons before casting aspersions or move on without trying to drag others down for their tastes.
@@tomsgrexit A lot of people would argue that rap is not real music, since it often has no singing or instruments. I will admit that I greatly prefer alt rock and alt country, and most of my knowledge of rap is VERY old school (80s and early 90s), so I don't really understand all the differences between rap and hip hop and all their sub-types, so I can't really comment on it.
Personally (and I'm 58), my first thought when I see a comment like that is to wonder what their parents and grandparents thought of the music they listened to.
72 here and agree.
After the eighties, all music gives me a headache. I don't need to tag any music as "REAL". I like it or I just don't. This girl has listened to it all. The older generation does expand their horizons. Some honestly won't ever leave their box. But understand them please!! The world needs differences. ❤
Wether with the Four Seasons or as a solo artist, you always know when Frankie is singing, one of the most recognizable voices of any generation. ✌️
He was even on Soul Train, he is that good!
Just like Gene Pitney.
Its whether not wether
Guys it's Frankie Valli not Vally
@@petegregory517 can't understand why the great Gene Pitney gets overlooked. Only Love can Break a Heart is one of my favorite songs ever.
If you want to hear some serious falsetto, you need to react to early "Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons". Songs "Sherry" "Walk like a man" "Big girls don't cry". 🙂
Not to mention "Rag Doll" and "Ronnie" (my dear departed sister by the same name's favorite song).
AMEN!
That's what I was thinking!
Great suggestions
There you are Jay and Amber great suggestions. And more to come.
Frankie Valli is still performing ... at age 89 !!!
🎉🎉🎉🎉 good god❤❤❤
Yes with his friends still good still a great guy. We get him often in Montreal
@@charlesbrown1542lol Tom Jones is turning 90. Check him out he still has that string voice. Genetic are not fair lol
😮❤ What a trooper to still keep on keeping on. I loved this song.
Its funny how this song crossed both parent and child generations. Kids of the 70's loved it as well as our folks. A uniting sound.
Every generation can relate to "the Friend Zone" 🤣
Yes it does. I remember donna.
70s parents were big fans of the four seasons, they had many hits in the 60s also.
Absolutely, I enjoyed it as well as my mom!
Ansolutely. My mom's a Boomer and this is one of her Favorite groups and I'm Gen X. Grew up listening to them and I love them too.
After all these years, I still remember these lyrics. Crazy how a song sticks in your brain.
So true. Great music goes to a special place in our memory
I wasn't from that time but being in the presence of others from then, I know the words.
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Who Loves You" and "Sherry"!!! Fun Fact: Frankie Valli was given the choice of being in the movie “Grease” or singing the title song.
He chose the song, which was written by Barry Gibb! Good choice. There's a Broadway play called Jersey Boys about Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, so they were legendary!
edit- Todays song was technically a solo hit for Frankie, 1974, although members of the 4 Seasons played on it..
And a Jersey Boys movie, too.
@@DavidB-2268 and movie was directed by Clint Eastwood!
Ty for the fun fact I dnt know that & Grease is my Fav. musical I dnt know Barry Gibbs wrote it. I know he wrote ‘Chain Reaction’ & you can hear the Bee-Gees singing the chorus.
@@888brancher you're welcome
That’s true, and also “December 1963 (Oh What A Night)” was technically just “The Four Seasons”, although Frankie sang on it, but he didn’t sing lead, and plus, Frankie had already embarked on a solo career by then.
If you haven’t already done these I’d suggest “Let’s Hang On “ & “Big Girls Don’t Cry “
Their earliest stuff is gold
Don't forget "Dawn," "C'Mon Marianne" and "Save It For Me." I don't think a lot of people really remember the last two great songs listed here.
@@tmr626 I love all of those, and another forgotten gem: Marlena
Who Loves You. 1975, funky, dance floor banger. Frankie does the love songs and he can get you up on the floor. Keep reacting to this amazing, iconic artist.
One of my favourite Frankie Valli songs
I remember being in high school and this song was on the radio multiple times a day. I haven't heard it in well over 40 years, and I just sung every word like I just heard it yesterday.
I was coming to say the exact same thing! How I can't remember what I had for breakfast, but "My Eyes Adored You" flowed out of my mouth as if I wrote the song myself. Long term memories are amazing... especially with emotional songs. Love that I'm not alone!
Me also, born in 57
@@baird5776mullet Born in '61!
And yet why did we just walk into the kitchen? Music is deeply embedded into our brains. There’s a study somewhere that stated that the music we listened to between the ages of 14-17 ish usually is the music that sticks with us. Even the music that we didn’t continue to listen to. Which is also why dementia patients react so strongly to music of their youth.
Me too. Nowadays I can't even make out a god damn word half of them are saying. Lol
"Who Loves You" and "Silver Star" were two of The Four Seasons' best later offerings.
Frankie is STILL out there touring. I saw him last year. He’s 87 years old and still sounds INCREDIBLE. He gave out CDs to the people in the front row, and shook hands with audience members. He’s incredibly sweet. At the end of the show, he said “I’ll see you next year!”
From my understanding, he lip syncs now. He doesn’t sing live
Frankie Valle- "Who Loves You"- Get that next ...
❤Frankie Valli
Yea, you guys missed a lots of great musicians playing this type of music. The oldies are the best. And with deep feelings to it. ✌🏻❤️
They were so big. I'm 75 and my heart smiles hearing them.
This song came out when I was in 5th grade and my "boyfriend" was in 6th. He DID carry my books home from school. We DID play make believe you're married to me, kissing and laughing. This was our song. 😊
I was a freshman in high school, I also did them same during grade school, funny6 thing I still remember her name.
Steven, I remember is name, too, Jimmy, but can't remember his last name for the life of me!
I hope you are still together .X
@@josephsoap2698 They’re not... both made it obvious
Fantastic!
Just a little young for the 4 seasons, I'll always remember Frankie Valli for his Bee Gees song Grease
I love this song. I fall in love all the boys of my youth all over again. 💚❤️🩵💙💜🧡💛
"My Eyes Adored You" is a 1974 song written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan of the Four Seasons. It was originally recorded by The Four Seasons in early 1974. After the Motown label balked at the idea of releasing it, the recording was sold to lead singer Frankie Valli for $4000. After rejections by Capitol and Atlantic Records, Valli succeeded in getting the recording released on Private Stock Records, but the owner/founder of the label, Larry Uttal, wanted only Valli's name on the label. The single was released in the US in November 1974 and topped the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1975. "My Eyes Adored You" also went to number 2 on the Easy Listening chart.[4] Billboard ranked it as the No. 5 song for 1975.
..."Class of 76"...And they still do...
You make many people smile! More Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons: "December 1963"; "Let's Hang On To What We Got"; "Walk Like a Man".
He's great. You probably already know he sang "Grease" which you have heard.
This is 74-75. Senior in High School. 70s baby, the best!!!!
Takes me back to my childhood in the 60's with my Dad Loving Frankie Valley and THE FOUR SEASONS.
A guy I used to work with would sing this to me. Everytime I hear it now, I think of him. ☺
MUST hear "Sherry" !!!
Awesome lyrics "grew into the me and you who went our separate ways". Such an amazing piece capturing young love. Unmistakably Frankie Valli, but without the falsetto.
You two look absolutely "GUT PUNCHED" by this one. Priceless reaction🧡🧡❤🧡❤❤❤🧡🧡🧡
Frankie Valli is 89, still touring, and still great to see him in concert. Missed him this past January, but have seen him twice in the last ten years.
Frankie & the 4 Seasons knew how to write and perform American Great Music. I was so fortunate to be born in 63 and Grow up with the 50-80s being my primary Golden Music years.
There was a famous parody version of this song circa the 80s that changed the lyrics to "my eyes explored you" from Dr. Demento or somebody like that. Even decades later, I can't hear the real version without thinking of the comedy one.
Got to play lead trombone for Frankie and the Four Seasons at a music festival in the 90s. One more autograph in my Encyclopedia of popular music.
The Jersey boys are all about Franki Valley and his songs.
This was always such a sweet song about the innocence of youth and first loves. Hard to believe it was written by the same two guys who wrote LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” 😂😂😂
WOW - I LOVE "Lady Marmalade," didn't realize it was written by the great(s) Kenny Nolan & Bob Crewe!
@@alleykeosheyan4779 yep! It sure was, and “Lady Marmalade” was produced by Allen Toussaint, writer of Glen Campbell’s “Southern Nights”.
What?!!😂
@@alleykeosheyan4779 Crewe/Nolan also wrote “Get Dancin’” by Disco Tex and The Sexolettes, believe it or not.
"Sherry", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Rag Doll", "Who Loves You", and "Walk Like A Man" are some more to do. Also get back to more Dion And The Belmonts. And yes you should watch "Jersey Boys" for the movie channel about them.
I agree with everything you wrote, but would also ask they check out my favorite Jersey boy, Bob Gaudio. His talent runs deep.
@@dawnbailey1132 true that
@jamesdamiano8894 we both come from Bergenfield, NJ. He was several years ahead of me but he was sooo handsome and smart! When I was a silly kid I wanted to believe that he sang Dawn about me, of course he didn't. Ah, youthful dreams. Great place to grow up.
Let’s add OH, WHAT A NIGHT to the list y’all need to react to!
🦩🦩Frankie Valli has always been the lead voice of The Four Seasons. Later they featured his name but you are missing some great ones if you only look for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Im sure the earlier stuff will please. His falsetto is in prime condition on songs like "Sherry" "Walk like Man" "Candy Girl" and my favorite "Lets Hang on to what we Got" etc.all under the name The Four Seasons. 1962...1965ish
first song you listened to was "Oh What A NIght" December 63. It's been a long time but you both loved the song and it's been my favorite from them. So Many good songs from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons!
A great voice indeed guys and 89 and still touring.
Frankie Valli sings about the warm, uplifting feeling that love brings as he tells the world in the song SWEARIN' TO GOD.
Another suggestion for is Paul Anka from this same period. You know him for singing the hit PUT YOUR HAND ON MY SHOULDER. But Paul had a huge song called YOU'RE HAVING MY BABY. Since you two have children, you will find this one especially sweet.
Valli. And he's protected by the mob. Literally. 😂❤
Heard this song for the first time when I was in first grade in the early 70's. I thought he was singing My Eyes of Georgia. One of my favorites, to this day.
Came out in the middle 70s 1974/75.
Frankie valli is still touring and still sounds fabulous
Feels good to be from Jersey when you see people appreciate there music! Many of timeless classics! Jersey 💪🏻
Who agree with me, we were privileged to have been born in that era , with great, meaningful music??!!
Omg. Frankie Valli is one of the greatest. Both as a solo artist and with the 4 Seasons. Please please please, play "The Girl I'll Never Know" by him. You will not regret it. And it's one of my all time favorites!
Frank Valli...an icon
Gotta love some Frankie Vali !
I wrote on an earlier reaction to another artist that for me Frankie has the all time best falsetto I have heard. AND I stand by that! To date most of what you have listened to is later in his career when he not singing most of the time with his falsetto! PLEASE, PLEASE react to earlier songs to hear it! There are MANY hits to pick from! (Sherry - their first of MANY #1 songs) But I would request either "Opus 17", "Bye Bye Baby" or my favorite "Rag Doll" .. EACH of these songs give you Frankie in his full voice and falsetto and Each showcase towards the end of the songs just how high and clear he could sing!
This song reminds me of a girl I walked home from 6th grade. I last saw her on the last bus ride home of our senior year in high school.
"Let's Hang On" one of countless Four Seasons classics
You really need to get into the Four Seasons. Frankie’s falsetto is amazing.
Ahhhhh, yeah..... This was (In my mind) the song for a girl I grew up with. She was a twin, and from 4th grade through (and after) high school, we were friends, commiserating with one another over failed high school romances. But in the back of my mind, she was the one. (Her parents always thought she and I would get married, though we never dated.) We talked about why WE never happened, once. Both of us had feelings for the other, but the time was never right. Either she, or I was always dating someone else when the other was free..... And 50 years later, we've both been married to other people more than half our lives, and we both love our spouses..... But sometimes something will cause her to pop into my head, and I'll wonder.... What if.... 🧓
This song came out in 1975, when I was 10 years old. I don't know how long it was before I realized it wasn't 'My Eyes of Georgia."
And I want you to know - I look for your new posts when I need someone to give me a smile.
Ohhhhh this is such a stunning song!
Frankie Valli is a fantastic vocalist. Great stuff from the Jersey boys.
Frankie Valli is th eking of falsetto.
Like nothing you have heard before. sherry, walk like a man, big girls don't cry, stay, rag doll, let's hang on. All incredible songs stretching from 1962 to 65 with unbeleivable falsetto vocals. There are live versions of all of them, definietly worth looking them up because he's incredible.
This one of the sweetest - "memory songs" - ever. Unrequited young love. (We've all been there.)
“You’re Ready Now” from the sixties is a great Frankie Valli song
Beautiful song about unrequited love. ❤️😢❤️😢
Love when youngins finally hear our music
Frankie Valli's "Fallen Angel" is another great song.
Every boy has that one girl he remembers when he hears this song. Thanks for doing this one!❤❤
This song always makes my eyes sweat. Darn!
My Eyes Adored You was originally recorded by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in 1974. When the record label didn't want to release the song, Frankie Valli bought the rights to the song for $4000. He re-recorded the song as a solo record, with only him on vocals, and it went to #1 on the Billboard Charts in 1975. This song, along with the follow up Swearin' To God would put Frankie Valli back in the spotlight, but also be a catalyst for Frankie and a new group of musicians to become The Four Seasons.
sweet memories this song brings back. Great choice.
Frankie's falsetto and the touching lyrics on "Rag Doll" made this my all time fav. song from them for feels... 2nd fav from them is "The Night" for some good Northern Soul vibes that make you wanna have a wee dance😂
WHO LOVES YOU as well as early Frankie who sang all in his incredible falsetto: BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY, RAG DOLL, SHERRY, WALK LIKE A MAN
One of my mommy's favorite groups. Frankie Valley & the Four Seasons!! ❤
You got your Bruce. You love some Sinatra. But the number one Jersey Boy is Frankie Valli. Hitmaker extraordinaire. Falsetto supreme.
My favorite Frankie Valley song
Fun fact: technically this is still the Four Seasons. Frankie Valli wasn't a song writer. He had a deal to record music as a 'solo' artist with songs written primarily by Bob Gaudio who owns 50% of the Four Seasons with Frankie Valli owning the other half. He did record some solo material without the Four Seasons such as Grease.
Frankie Vallie is still touring at age 89 with the 4 Seasons,no originals left now,new ones sound great!
Absolutely LOVE Frankie Vallie!! I'm an oldie, so I will click every single time you do him. I enjoy your reactions on the music you love, but even more when you appreciate the music I love!
You will like the movie based on Frankie Valley And The Four Seasons -- Jersey Boys .
Lots of their hits and their story is interesting.
I believe I heard that the actor who plays Valley
does his own singing, and was also the actor in the stage version of the story. Some or all of the other actors who were in the band may have also been in the play.
Love Frankie and four seasons. This is more from my mom and dad. I'm 64 think of them all the time especially with this music. Live them
Grew up with this music. Had a secret crush, never told her. I always think of here whenever I hear this even today, probably 48 yrs later.
A fantastic singer and group(Four Seasons) This man had a severe hearing condition and had it finally corrected in 1980 restoring almost all his hearing! Absolute joy to liten to them!
I grew up in the 70s. Frankie was the man. The Grease theme kept him front and center but I was digging his earlier stuff even then.
Hi Jay and Amber. I was 15 when this song came out. My ears have adored it ever since. One of my all time favorites but then again , there are so many favorites of those times. Sigh. So glad you liked it.
The Night is a Great Northern soul classic by Frankie
This is actually a solo hit by Frankie which hit #1 on the Pop Chart in the early 1970's😮😊
It was released in 1975....
Mid 70s not early 70s released in late 1974 early 1975.
I forget what video it was, but Amber made a comment that love songs from back in the day were just better than they are now, and this Frankie Valli song is the one I immediately thought of.
The Chimes was actually a Harp! How many harps do you hear in mainstream music? It's a perfect background ambience setter!
The Song was cowritten by Kenny Nolan ("I like Dreaming") and he sold the rights to Frankie Valli for $4000. Frankie had a hard time getting song out there because the studios refused to release it on their Labels... Their loss was Our Gain!
Today music has no ambience.
Lorena Mckennitt made a career out of it.
Gayle Levant played harp on many of the Carpenters songs, plus there was a lot of harp on Mary Hopkin’s song Temma Harbour which is an old favourite of mine
"Abraham, Martin and John" by Dion and "The Rain, the Park and Other Things" by the Cowsills come immediately to mind.
you got your story a little bit wrong--the song was written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan and recorded by the 4Seasons in mid 1973 while they were still at Motown--like most of the songs Frankie and the Seasons recorded at Motown, the execs at Motown did not think them worthy of release including this one---finally in mid 1974, the Seasons were fed up with Motown and left the label; before leaving they asked to buy back all their masters but Motown asked for too much so Frankie settled on this song only and did buy it back from Motown for $4000--he then shopped it around to many other record labels before Larry Utall who had just started his own label-Private Stock -agreed to release it as his very first record and it went to #1---about 40 other records remained UNRELEASED in the Motown vaults for the last 50 years---finally 13 of them have just been released as part of the Mega Box set collection of over 800 tracks--almost everything ever recorded by the 4 Seasons--the set was just officially released June2--I have heard the 13 and they are all sensational--as good as "My Eyes Adored You"---what was Motown thinking???!!!
I love Frankie. I have to say my favorites of his are all with the four seasons !!
My mum loved this group
It's amazing that he is almost 90 years old & still tours. He puts on an amazing show also.
There is an AMAZING video of Frankie Valli and the Commodores (with Lionel Richie) singing Grease that you guys should watch!
Love them! You will be thrilled with their "Sherry".
This is an unique composition stuffed with transistion for listeners giving goosbumps and multiplying chills. 1975 A year with increadible pleasure due to very talented singers and meaningful music. BTW: This is Frankie Valli going solo after this track the release of the song "Swearing to God".
This was the first song I ever slowed danced to.... memories
Frankie Valley - Grease
'The Jersey Boys' is probably the best stage production I've seen!
Grew up with Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons; "Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like a Man, Can't Take My Eyes Off of You", etc..., they had so many great hits.
Her name was Anita Kay. Saw her at church when we were in the second grade. My eyes adored her for the next nine years, when I finally asked her out. We had a nice time. I was as nervous as I could be. At the end of the date, I walked her to her door, and she gave me a sweet little kiss on the cheek. It never came to anything. We parted ways decades ago. Been married thirty-seven years now, with five adult children, five grandkids, a chihuahua, and a lot of tender memories. And still, deep inside, my eyes adore her...
Our day will come (1976) is my favorite from Frankie Valli.
Almost story of my life. He is still a great signer brings is members along. Kindest most generous man . Miss those days. I'm 67 now and so many songs bring me back to those days, sometimes good sometimes sad. A life lol. Miss so much groups like him , Chilites, stylistics, Bread and so many more. I don't understand what happened it's the music we still love, the music in new movies. Yet we're stuck with auto tune and violent or gross lyrics. Just discovered you but new follower. Thank you
Oh you guys wanted to get back into the 60’s music, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons is a deep rabbit hole! Sherry, Walk Like AMan, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Rag Doll.....just to name a few!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I’d also recommend Gene Pitney, he has such a unique voice.... Only Love Can Break A Heart, The Man Who Sho Liberty Valance, Every Breath I Take and many more hits!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awe, one of my favorites of all time!! One of those I sing with every time!
