In the ricegum-gabbie situation, arguing over the 'hit' word is absolutely pointless as physical assault happened regardless. By saying he didn't outright HIT her, ricegum and all his supporters are saying one form of abuse is slightly better than other. He still hurt her, exerted phsyical dominance by force and left visible marks. Assault is assault. It's debates like these which prevent other victims from speaking out - people are gonna tell them the violence they experienced doesn't count as abuse because it wasn't hard enough or didn't leave enough physical evidence.
And to all of those saying she lied on purpose - no, she just excited a situation of physical assault minutes before recording that first snapchat and was likely in shock; people's initial reactions are always more extreme if they haven't had a chance to calm down and process what happened.

After watching videos, I'm starting to understand this more. People are comparing Gabbie to Tana and I don't think that's fair. True, in terms of adrenaline, you will exaggerate the story. Why do advertisers care where their ads play? More views typically lead to more sales, which can fund more ads. Granted, I fucking hate ads, but limiting your total ad view/click count in order to avoid being associated with certain types of content doesn't make sense from a purely business perspective.

Because some people are dumb enough to believe lets say an AT&T ad was to be played next to an ISIS video of them beheading someone, and people would believe AT&T supported ISIS. People are fucking stupid.
I originally had a kind of drawn-out series of further questions to continue my point, but I think I came to a better conclusion that makes more sense: A creator allows an ad company to play ads on their videos for a fee. The ad company is paid by the companies that have products that are advertised. That means that any revenue generated by an ad will eventually trickle down to the creator whose video the ad played in front of. Because of this, companies feel that they are "paying" the creators (even though it all comes through the ad company) and they want creators to follow their rules to better represent their company. In order to enforce this, they threaten to drop the ad company and the ad company, not wanting to be dropped, drops the creator. From a moral standpoint, I don't agree with this practice, but it makes more sense than I initially thought.

I'm excited for Valerian. Yeah it has a very large and bold marketing campaign, but I can see why. I mean, this is the largest joint US and European film project to date with Lucas Besson directing, that great cast, with ILM on VFX and Weta Workshop on Props and practical effects, which judging from Elysium and Rogue One, will make for an amazing combination. This kind of needs to be big.

Just a note on the Game Of Thrones thing... the expected run-time of the season as a whole will be roughly the same as the over all run-time of each of the past seasons... just longer episodes so they can do more to stay with the characters/storylines without needing to conclude the story as quickly :) Love your vids, cheers to you, Trey, The Lindz and Baby DeFranco.

I posted a video of me talking about being in a coma on life support because my doctor was prescribing too much medication and my body shut down...youtube refuses to monetize. I've even appealed explaining exactly what the video is about. They said no...I just started CZcams a few months ago, super excited about it...and I can't even post a video of me discussing the dangers of prescriptions and the way we typically don't question doctors and we should. There was not one doctor that thought I was going to survive. They prepared my family for this. And then I woke up. I don't know if I'm gonna be on CZcams for long..

Being recorded without your permission doesn't matter if you are away from your home. If you are a corporation on your own property you can get away with saying you don't allow recordings there. But in public - being out and about - you can get recorded whether you like it or not.

To prevent a mental breakdown i have to take time to only focus on my own immediate surroundings/existence. People in the comments arguing that Gabbie had that coming with recording him, and that it is illegal for her to record there, and that he should be safe and blah-blah-blah.
If you want to bring the law into this, how about that: by federal law video recording without consent is permitted if the privacy is not invaded. He had a party in his house [EDIT: People are saying it was not even his house.], so I doubt there could be allegations of invading privacy on that one [EDIT: his house or not, a party is a public gathering.]. Plus, she didn't record his [EDIT: Anyone's] house or property at all - it literally was only them two in the snaps. Or, if it is somehow applicable (which it is most certainly not), then should other people at that party who took photos and video, be charged too?
Next, yes, Gabbie made allegations that he assaulted her. That is illegal if it is false. However, it is still a gray area, because we only have information from one eye witness. If that should be checked, at least two or three people should confirm what that neck tattoo guy has said. Same goes for the opposite - if she really was assaulted, there should be people able to confirm it.
But you know what is definitely not legal? Destroying someone's property, a.k.a. smashing phones on the ground. As Phil already explained, Gabbie could press charges on him for that, and she will win because he confirmed it himself, multiple times.
And for a conclusion, my personal opinion - how can you defend a person that makes video mocking abuse victims? How can you defend a person who reacts with violence to a joke/roast, if not with assault but by destroying someone's property? I really cannot understand that.
IMO, anyway, both of them could have handled the situation better. People need to get out of the habit of getting on social media while in the state of blinding rage/upset. It never comes out good.

On people saying that Gabbie made a foolish move - I agree with that. I said, they both could handle the situation better. However, even though it was a shitty thing to do and I wouldn't praise anyone for doing that, but looking at Rice's content and overall personality I think that it is at least acceptable. As Phil said in the previous video, he should be ready to receive what he dishes out on the internet. Responding with violence to a joke, even though provocative, is bad in my book.

Sevuras it was a *party*. One that wasn't even hosted at his own house. This is what the law says:
"There are very few laws which prohibit video recording of any kind, but there are laws in some areas dealing with areas of expected privacy. These include areas such as bathrooms, locker rooms, changing/dressing rooms, adult bedrooms, and other areas where a person should expect a high level of personal privacy."
A party falls into none of these categories. She legally didn't do anything wrong.

There are a lot of people saying it was illegal for Gabbie to film RiceGum, but being that they were at a party, is there really any expectation of privacy? Does the fact that this was at a party not turn this into a public situation. It's perfectly legal to film others in public since the expectation of privacy is not a factor.

Kendall S no, that part is not illegal.... as long as the subject is over 18 (and that's only illegal in a few states... as long as their fully clothed). Posting images and/or videos of people without their consent can leave you open to lawsuits... civil punishment, not thrown in jail.
As annoying that it is for someone to harass you in a public place by attempting to illicit, and capture on video, a negative response from you, your only real recourse is just let them do what they're going to do. It sucks, but welcome to the big boy/girl world in which you just keep walking as the little birdies chirp.

Luca the "you go to jail" was a simplification of the difference between judicial and civil punishment. Just because you do something that makes you liable to Civil lawsuits, does mean you automatically did something illegal.
*contradictory update.... yes breaking Civil Law, by definition is illegal... I have always used the phrase "illegal" in terms of breaking Penal and Criminal law where judicial punishment is handed out. That being said, the first poster was correct, at a party in which there is not a specific "do not video", or something like that, you do not have the right to privacy... so Gabby being a pain in the ass was not illegal.... which I could have saved a lot of typing merely by agreeing with the initial post and saying being a general pain in the ass is not illegal, being a giant dick and smashing a general pain in the asses phone is. 😄

I think it's totally acceptable that in the moment she used the word hit, especially when people at the party people said to her "did he hit you" and in the heat of the confusing moment she ran with that word like 2 times maybe, but later continued to be VERY clear that it was more of an aggressive manhandling. He's so happy she slipped up for one second and he's latching on to that.

You know what, Gabbie was acting shitty at a party. Doesn't mean she deserved to get hurt, or have her phone broken, but if someone was basically livestreaming me while I was relaxing at a party and wouldn't stop when asked, I'd probably take a swing at the phone too.
Deliberately inciting anger can also constitute "fighting words" and depending on where you are, can lead to physical assault being seen as a reasonable reaction. That's definitely not entirely valid here, but a lot of people seem to believe that "I'm not touching you" is a completely iron clad defense when someone becomes angry, and need to know that it's not even acceptable in the eyes of the law, much less reasonable actions in polite society.
Why doesn't Facebook just rip off a CZcams concept? I mean they certainly aren't above that right?
