Dang fine beginning.
Having done this once myself....
Three things
Flat surface
Plumb bobs.
Build to ride height using the front axle to guide the build.
If you're running anything bigger than 38 inch tires...
Move front axle forward to keep tires away from the cab at full stuff...
And don't forget
Mock up
Mock up etc

Ok, I'll take back that "rust bucket"remark. It's not as bad as I thought. Just the frame horns appear to have some rust on them. Not too bad at all.

Nice work, Ive thought of doing this conversion too. 2wd trucks are usually in better shape and cheaper.
Hendrik - there's also the issue of finding one configured like this. Ford never made a brick nose crew cab diesel dually 4x4 pickup, so if you want one, you have to make it yourself! Only ones manufactured in that timeframe were conversions.

I was relieved to see the glass was covered while you did the grinding. Some of us learned the hard way that grinder sparks will embed into the surface of glass!
David - yes, I have some scar tissue associated with this. Had a '66 Fairlane end up with hot shards of metal embedded in the paint and glass.

I’ve often thought about adding a turbo to my 6.9. I think it’s totally safe as long as you stay at 10lbs or less.
Joseph - A stock 6.9 should be able to handle 10 psi, assuming the engine is in good shape. If you want to live dangerously, you can try 12 psi, but I think that would be the absolute top limit. Scott

Love seeing normal people making it happen in driveways with average tools. That's real life for most of us. I'd watch ur vids all day over some of these channels with high dollar shops and every tool known to man kind. Loving it buddy. Keep it up. We need more real life channels like urs.

Nice work Scott. Your work makes me envious and anxious to get back home and spend time on my project. I was going to suggest the air chisel for those rivets after watching you struggle with the radiator core support bracket on the drivers side. I guess you heard me yelling at the video. LOL.
Hey Karl - the air chisel is one of those tools that I don't use often enough. My mantra is normally, "work harder, not smarter!" Anyway, thanks for the input, and I'm looking forward to seeing more progress on your Fairlane when you get back in town. Scott
Very Ambitious Project! Nothing on that beast is lightweight- even the brackets are Monsters! I'm familiar with the Dana 27,30 and 44- looking forward to seeing a Dana 60 go in. Wow. Kingpins are rugged, but time consuming to tune caster/camber with the off center swiveling bushings. Hope your dana 60 comes close to straight!

Just got throught episode 4 and I am impressed man. You're gettin er done! I'll be subscribed waiting for that next addition. This helps me get motivated to get working on my 87 6.9 4x4. I must say i'm jealous of your truck. That will be a ultra unique/cool truck with that diesel and a D60 front. I take it you already found a dually 60 for the front?
Aaron - thanks for the kind words and encouragement! Next episode will be up in a few days. It will certainly be a one-of-a-kind truck when done, since Ford didn't ever make one in this configuration in 1987. I sourced a kingpin 4.10 Dana 60 from a 1990 single rear wheel F350; just need to add dually hub adapters, which I have. Scott
