Caught a Venomous Coral Snake in the Garage!!! Catch & Release!
Well, this was quite exciting! A few days ago, my buddy Will and I were wrenching on Project Brownie, a 1991 F350 crew cab diesel dually, when I spotted a coral snake that had let himself into the garage! It was high adventure until I managed to get him secured in a pillow case. From there, we took the snake to a nearby uninhabited area and released him (or her) into the wild. Folks - venomous snakes can kill you, so please don't try this at home!!!

Dana 60 Spindle Bearing Removal and Installation!
I think you should make it a “bulletproof Truck” re-do everything. Keep the beefy bumper, twin turbo ATS, beefy tires fix all of the body work, repair it, Danna 60, re-do the seats, and get rid of the running boards. Maybe a 4-6 inch lift? I think project brownie is gonna get interesting.
Thanks for the input and stay tuned, because I've been working on it and I need to post a video. Scott
I’m thinking about building some of these. Do you think it would work or be safe if I only used two in the front to remove and replace a transmission? Thanks
It should work fine.
Good instructive video, thanks! And, I love the dog.
Thanks for the input! We love the dog, too! Scott
I also made wooden blocks after watching your video to keep my Mercedes Benz .
Excellent! Glad you found it helpful! Scott
I purchased my 1986 Ford F250 6.9 IDI from a guy in Tn, for $1,000 has just under 300,000 miles, yes I have had my share of problems, but I will Not give up on it, and it must have been a Michigan truck at one time, whole lot of cancer, but between oil changes, it is barely down a quart
Sounds like it a great project! Good on you for keeping it going. Scott
Thank you for your patient explanation.
Glad you found it helpful. Scott
great video, thanks for sharing! I like that you carry the load bearing all the way down.
Glad you found it helpful! Scott
I thought mixing that kind of stuff should be done in plastic container?
I don't think it really matters as long as it's a clean surface.
I have fixed similar problems before on a cat d6 dozer wasn’t crazy expensive
Alec - Yep, I don't expect it to be too expensive, just fairly involved with fixing broken bolts and moving heavy stuff. Thanks
Great to see a man that enjoys a challenge love to see these old machines brought back to life keep it up.
Thanks for the input! Scott
Yup i did this to my 4 cams 5 years ago and my clearanced were good. Now i need to rebuild again with some scratches but I have no patience for it. will use a machinest.
It is a bit tedious, but it makes a lot of sense if you're on a budget and/or your machinist isn't nearby. Thanks
I operated the 977 for R.H.S. LEE trucking of pearl city oahu HI. From 1990 to 2006. We demolished buildings then loaded his semis with that loader. It had a Peterson demolition bucket that would hold big loads. He also had some with 4 in 1 buckets that we used to load trucks and help grade lots. The 977 can do many jobs. It's all up to the skill of the operator.
Pearl City? I used to work down the road from there from 2003-2005 at Camp HM Smith! Lived on Aweoweo Beach in Waialua - man, I miss that place! Scott
@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE hi Scott. I lived in ewa Beach then pearl city. I could look right down into the valley where the company was located. I would go into the office and Mr. Lee would tell me what jobsite I would be working at that day. He had jobs all over the island. I'm retired now, but I really enjoyed running his equipment. He would buy the older equipment and fix them and his operators would run them..operating heavy equipment is a real joy. And for good pay.
@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE waialua. On the north side. Had a buddy that lived there. He was a army national guard soldier like I was. We were 11C infantry..he's passed away now but a real nice guy. Walter hagge was his name.
@@steven-rt8kb - Interesting. I was national guard infantry many years ago, but in Louisiana. The name Walter Hagge isn't familiar to me, but he and I may have crossed paths at some point.
Hello from Finland! My grandmother has a Ford like that, Year model - 53! The tractor has a cracked engine block, the water is freezing inside. Is it difficult to get parts for the tractor, even the whole engine? Thanks for the information ! M.P

Just found your videos. I have always been a gearhead doing wild stuff like custom bodywork and making vehicles fit to my personality. There has always been a couple of things that I have been apprehensive about doing, engine rebuilds and gear setup on axles. I really appreciate the videos, I’ll be giving this a shot soon.
Welcome aboard and glad you found the videos helpful!!! Scott
Better lock out and Rome will.have it scrap heap 😮😮😮😮
Not sure I understand your comment, Tim.
Is he talking about removing bearing or seat ?
It's the bearing.
I have a 75 D200 360. Dana 60 4.10 gears. Positraction. Full floating. Bullet proof.
Sounds like a real beast!
That machine should be worth the money to repair it, especially with the amount you paid for it.
I agree! Thanks for the input, Scott
@@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE LOL, my name is Lane, from Mississippi, i have a IH175B Payloader, but wish i had that 977, those things are awesome and very desired all over the US.
@@user-um6qj6zt3n - Hey Lane - where in Mississippi? I'm from Slidell/Pearl River, LA, but my family is from MS - Jackson, Laurel, Hattiesburg. Scott
Thank you for the great video,I just went through the same thing,my neighbor loaned me the exact transmission jack you have and I pulled the trans out and even with the car as high as I could get it the trans wouldn't clear the exhaust so I thought I was going to have to remove the trans from the jack (would have been fun!) but then I realized all I had to do was tilt the front of the trans down with the jack adjustment. We always seem to overlook the obvious.
Glad you got it figured out! Scott
the price of new machine is over 100k if you can fix for 10k would be good
That's my kind of math. Thanks for the input. Scott
If you need the machine and it’s cheaper to repair than to purchase one that’s in operating condition then it’s worth fixing.
Well, I hope it's going to be cheaper. I'll know soon enough! Thanks for the input. Scott
ITS ONLY MONEY. FIX IT UP THEN SELL IT.
I like the way you think! Scott
The idea is you get a few machines, so you have enough parts to keep one running!
I hear you, but I'd prefer to just have one good one! Thanks, Scott
Very good content i learned alot on working on my 1948 8N THANKS!
Glad you found it helpful, Robert. Scott
Cool thank you so much for sharing
You're welcome! Scott
Reminds me of the film "Shake Hands With Danger"
If you can find parts that can be refurbished at a good price it might be worth it
I think so, too! Thanks for the input, Scott
Nice video, complete instructions. I have looked into these cribs and your video provides great tips. Also, your cribs will save me a few bucks from the ones I was going to build. Thx
Happy to help, Jesse, and thanks for the feedback. Scott
You’re a good man Scott, that little guy just wants to live its life. I live in rural North Florida and saw a timber rattler on the side of my house and caught him with a storage container inverted over him and got the lid on and got him in the back of my truck and took him way way out into a very desolate area and let him go. Like your 8N videos too. I’m working on my old front distributor 8N that I call old Cranky. No serial number on the block and I read that these were replacement engines.
Thanks, Yogibeer. I like to save 'em when I can. Good luck with the 8N! Scott
You could be like the federal government and not let the amount of money you spend stop your project !! Although you sound way to intelligent to take that approach anyway.
I like the way you think! I just retired from the Army after 26 years, so I'm familiar with Government overspending!!! Scott
Fix it , it’s not that big of deal it will last you a lifetime got to have concrete to jack it up . If you had engine problems different story. Go for it. I use to operate a977 many years ago it’s strong and dependable and made a lot of money with no problems but it was new so fix her right !Go
Well, I do have concrete now! Details to follow in the next video. Scott
So are you saying the LARGE PAPERWEIGHT is a work in progress or parts machine! Tear down sell as parts,if engine is okay you are doing well PILGRIMS ??
Engine is fine. Undercarriage and final drive is another story, unfortunately. Still have a bit more digging to do, but my plan is to fix it. Thanks, Scott
Tyler @diesejl loves these 977s. @C&C_Equipment & @DieselCreek loves them too if you need any assistance
I don't think I'm a fan of the video style - you talked through all the levers on the machine(don't care) then sped up all the actual fixing parts which most want to see. Can't do it...
Thanks! Scott
Other than the final damage witch is bad enough I believe she's worth repairing she seems to still have plenty of life left in her.
I agree! More details to follow soon! Scott
I'm no Cat expert, but I am a farmer and logger and have run and fixed a lot of old iron. Right there you have a pretty heavy duty hydraulic jack to get the front end free and clear a couple of feet off the ground and run some railroad ties or steel I beams right through just a bit off center front to back. Then just ease her down off the loader bucket and let her set on the beams with the track a few inches off the ground. Not ideal, but a field fix, so you can get the track apart and laid out and start unbolting the rest...worst case just clock her up and dig out under the track to get some airspace. At least dirt digs, concrete is hard to shovel out. If you get the drive off and apart, you may be able to have shafts, gears, etc built up and remachined at a machine shop cheaper than buying new at Cat dealer. or find a scrap drive and get the parts you need. But I'm just a farmer.
Well, it's on concrete now; I moved it to my new shop several days ago. I'll post up a video soon with details. I think I'm going to need a complete used final; either use as-is or scavenge parts from it. Thanks for the input, Scott
Why would you buy a new air filter if it’s going to be a parts machine. Also, the way you were talking at the end I feel like you have already decided to fix it, so in that case I’ve subbed so I can watch the repairs. Cheers, Stuart 🇦🇺
At this point, I'm planning to fix it. I just moved it to my new shop. Details to follow. Thanks, Scott
Think it may be cheaper to use it as parts and buy another.
Probably so, but I may still fix it. Thanks for the input, Scott
It was free so fix it
That's the plan. Thanks
Why did you park it in the middle of a field instead of somewhere you could work on it.
Michael - well, there's a LOT of work that gets done on heavy equipment in a field, but your point is valid. I just moved it to my new shop. Details to follow in the next video. Scott
