when you're rich and have so few problems you excommunicate your daughter in law for wearing the same dress as you to their wedding
i read this comment before the video and i was mentally trying to prepare for the story but somehow it was still more insane than i could've imagined
Ok, when I first read this before watching, I thought some nutjob in law showed up at the wedding in a traditional wedding dress and then got mad at the bride for wearing the same thing:p
They forgot the one rule: “your wedding, your rules.”
Right? It’s just absolutely bizarre.
I know a few people that would do something like learning the dress the person they hate wants the most and would buy it before they could just to show they bought it first and take the moral high ground and start an argument and force the people they both know to choose sides. There are petty people like that, it's not about the dress. If the woman was rich enough to have so few problems she's rich enough to buy another dress. She did it out of spite.
This series has actually improved my self esteem, like I used to think I was probably unlikable but compared to these people I am a whole ass meal
A quality person would never make a post on that subreddit.
@cablemanization really? what if the sister of the woman with "crumbling depression over a 5 months relationship" would post something like "AITA for not going to my parent's 30 years aniversary party after they disinvited my girlfriend?"
@cablemanization so she would be an asshole for putting it on the internet not matter the situation? lmao.
@@elguty4045 I don't think she is an asshole, but anyone who is asking total strangers at the reddit out of all places question regarding private situations, usually quite sensible ones, is pretty dumb in my opinion. Also AITA is half of the time non asshole people wanting cookie points for being in the right, other half is assholes trying to convince themselves they are in right with strangers help and only like 1% are genuine dilemma. I am not even counting bunch of fake ass posts in this sub.

Pretty mind-blowing honestly

@@Unfamous2423 family is family
Redditors are typically shut-ins who have all the social grace of a pizza grease-caked neckbeard on a 48 hour anime bender.
Doesn't surprise me at all. XD
This is not a Reddit hivemind because of "it's just three dollars". You're making it look like if it were a hundred bucks yeah, THEN he'd be an asshole.
The fact that she went crazy for such an insignificant amount is a very clear indicative of why she was so upset. She's not mad because he took money, and she's not mad because she took ANY amount of money. She's mad because it was money she was purposefully hiding away, and now (to her) the whole family knows exactly how money she had saved.
And yeah, it depends on the people and the kind of family you have, but in some cases once they know you have money, suddenly EVERYONE needs for you to lend them money - or everyone expects you to pay more than you should because "come on, you have so much saved". The best part being the moment you refuse, you're suddenly a greedy piece of shit who's hoarding money and doesn't want to let go a couple hundred bucks for the family.
Edit: even though some comments acknowledge it, most of them are absolutely retarded taking "stealing any amount, even if it's $3 YOU L I T E R A L L Y STOLE FROM YOUR SISTER" as some kind of major unforgiveable sin. The guy above me was right after all, now I feel filthy for trying to defend them.

That bit was extra amusing since Americans on Reddit (ie, the majority) are VERY pro-tipping. I bet if the post was like, "I was unable to give a tip to the delivery driver since there was no cash in the house aside from my sister's stash, AITA?", they would be up in arms how you should've just borrowed $3 from the stash to pay them the tip they deserve.
@@ashb7the issue is in the US delivery people are paid pittance. They get minimum if they don't get tipped enough, but otherwise their income is based on tips made. It's gross

Ok so I just want to comment on something about the last post that I don't think anyone really articulated very well that was going through my head.
It was brought up briefly but when it comes to going into a childs room and rummaging through their stuff to find something like money without their permission, that can be seen as a big invasion of privacy to the child and can create trust issues and cause them to be more distanced and closed off in future, EVEN if it was JUST 3 dollars.
It's like the classic 'Diary hypothetical': as a concerned parent, do you sneak into your childs room to read their diary to find out how they are going or if they are getting into trouble so you can help/ protect them and risk potentially causing them massive trust and privacy issues with you from then on, even if it was just for their benefit, or do you not read it, knowing they may be keeping big secrets from you? Interestingly, with that, many people feel strongly one side or the other, and i think the same applies here.
No it really doesn't matter if it was JUST 3 dollars, it really is the princable of the thing at stake here, an invasion of privacy.
Logically speaking, I agree, 3 dollars is nothing and if it was my family I wouldn't mind and would totally understand it. But everyone is differnt, and small things that seem so minor to us can have a big impact on children, depending on their age, something as minor as this can seem like a huge thing and be quite the deal breaker.
That being said, the person in question is apparently 20 and should probably be at a stage where they understand these situations a bit more I think, and probably shouldn't have reacted as badly. I don't know her personally of course, what's she's like or how she thinks, but based on what i do know, if everyone is an adult in this situation, it really shouldn't be a big deal I think.
The $3 story is big "tell me you're not close with your siblings without telling me you're not close with your siblings" energy
And that's coming from an only child
Nah, I am not close to my brother at all and I still wouldn’t care if he took 3 dollars and promised he would pay back. I think that OP’s sister might be a little bit of a privacy freak or a money hungry person, it makes zero sense to make such a fuzz for 3 bucks that were gonna be repaid anyway

I have to admit, you really missed out on checking out a really wholesome comments section on stream of the reddit post about disinviting the daughter's girlfriend. It was honestly the best one that I've seen and at least the top comments didn't take anything out of context and realized the gravity of the situation as well as the mother's good intentions. It's probably the most good that has ever come out of an AITA post. Also, I love the series and I hope to see it every week! I liked We Want Plates but the real bread and butter is AITA IMO.
The people of reddit are unhinged, it's 3 dollars and people are treating it like he spent her life savings on gambling or something. Reddit continues to baffle me on a regular basis
the sister one blows my mind. genuinely if i took 20 bucks from my sisters room cause somehow the entire pizza wasnt paid for. and then i texted her and said "hey me and dad messed up and didnt have the money for the pizza i took a 20 from your room ill get you back tonight sorry for snooping" on my life she would say "got it, all good bro". like do people not like... know what a family is? If she hada take 20 from me id be like "all good homeslice" like obviously shes getting me back lickity split shes my sister. And then i get to feel like the hero who got them out of the jam. Might even get some interest back like this girl did. Free money and brownie points. Its a win win.
It is criminal how low the views are on this series.
Everyday I see one of these it makes my day, if I have a bad day I go scrounge twitch in hopes there's one that NL just hasn't posted yet.
I feel like what matters the most in the 3 dollar story is how hidden that money was. I wouldn't want anyone opening my drawers, but if the money was really in the wipe containers it's ok I guess. It would still feel shit to think about someone searching through my room if I have some private stuff there. No assholes, both the act and the reaction is reasonable I think.
I agree whole heartedly, the issue is not the 3 dollars at all. It's purely the breach of privacy
I think they're the asshole but it's definitely more of a "Hey don't invade your family member's privacy like that" than "YOU'RE LITERALLY HITLER"
"I would absolutely steal the money from my child, there's no question." -NL 2021
I’m surprised no one on the last one said “your dad’s house, his rules, NTA.” I thought that was the Reddit common law?
The Three-Dollar-Conundrum is obviously not about the money but about the relationship. If I was still living with my Mother and she'd proactively borrow money, I'd be annoyed too. Not because of the money but because she habitually crosses my boundaries and always for a "good reason". If it wasy anyone else, I propably wouldn't even want the money back, because it's literally just three dollars.
She isn't mad about the three dollars, she's mad about the invasion of privacy. When you're living with family as an adult, the lack of autonomy can become grating, and people defend their right to private spaces.
NL is slowly becoming my fav channel again, the witty commentary, the great insight - the list goes on!
The outrage to the $3 tip story is the biggest tell that a large portion of the people who frequent that subreddit must be young teenagers. I feel like I was really big on the "do NOT go into my room and touch my things without permission MOM" when I was like 14 and still felt the need to aggressively assert my personal space.
"He likes to put his blah in the blah and go bllrrrghghg" Don't we all, brother.
Getting life advice from Reddit is akin to getting medical advice from Google. Almost nothing good can come from it.
I love when NL starts talking shit about a case and then gradually comes to the realization he's not supposed to be joking and reigning it it
That 3$ tip story is so insane for me as a european. I come from a wealthy country, might be different depending on cultural context.
Ooooh, we got mister moneybags over here he's from a wealthy country.
I come from America I was actually so shocked to hear the verdict was YTA. It’s insane
Hey, how about you send me some moneys
SMH my head didnt you read the comments!? its NOT ABOUT THE MONEY /s
the redditors acting like 12 years when their mom walks into their room to find a pen or something... actually insane
The three dollar story is driving me insane. I have a 20 hidden well in my room. If my older sibling snooped through my room, took that 20, spent it on literally whatever, and then told me they'd give it back like a week from now, I'd probably just waive it off and just give them the 20, cause they're my fucking family.
why do you have a well hidden $20?
@@65rytg why do they have a well hidden 3 dollars 💸
I can picture every one of these as an ITYSL sketch and I’m all about it
Judge egg, he's back! Oh how I have been waiting.
Imagine a husband complaining his wife doesn’t make enough money or contribute financially to their marriage
Love the pizza delivery question. My parents would always come into room when I was living at home to take cash as needed. They would always let me know and we kept track. I was basically the house banker and it worked just fine
Really loving this series NL!
Updoots to the left for the Silver Jews reference
It's so cathartic to hear your opinion on such banal non-issues
I honestly love this way more than anything else
React court forever
9 seasons and a movie forever and ever
"he likes to put his bah in the buh and go blelelelele" should be common slang
I have to say, this episode is some of my favorite NL content in recent memory. The snark is on point!
nl about to read the first one's comments filled me with absolute dread
Everyone deals with mental health issues differently… but if you’re in a catatonic depressive state unable to do anything your life and sent into remission every time you’re reminded happy couples exist just because your FIVE MONTH relationship ended, then that’s on you. Whatever rehabilitation plan the parents are putting her through is clearly not adequate.
But also, glad the story wasn’t about homophobia lol
I would absolutely watch NL make a tier list of important life events.
That last one is 100% an I Think You Should Leave skit and I'm now convinced AItA is how he tests new ideas
I am loving the React Court videos. I hope we have some more coming soon. I play these on the living room tv and my roommates ,who don't watch any streamers or anything like it, stoped to listen and were cracking up.
"We threw a fancy party while our daughter is in an active depressive episode"
The sister who got her three dollars stolen should get into business. How she managed to convince someone that stealing three dollars was some sort of war crime, plus she got 60% interest. Mogul in the making
I've slept on this series this is some good background convo
I'd maybe do that with ones I've seen already but react court is too pogged of content for me to sleep to.
@@micalishis Ya buddy I mean this is some house chore background stuff 😎
Comments on the borrowing $3 one are actually going to make me become the Joker
I think if you took all the people answering YTA in that post were put into a ring with a fucking thief they would murder him so quickly you'd think they stopped time.
The bride one’s final judgement blew my mind, in what world is that not NTA lol
