  • In this episode, we meet Harlem Ratapu, from Rogue NZ, for a kōrero on his family's beautiful iwi land near Gisborne. He is a spear fisherman, bee keeper, and amateur film maker who is setting a good example for our young ones. Harlem talks about how aggression in relationships was the norm for him while growing up. This led to fighting at school as a way to deal with conflict, anger in relationships, and being numb to the world around him. His grandfather, Mitchell Ratapu, would take him out into the bush for a weeks at a time, which introduced him to the greatest teacher of them all - nature! It was Tangaroa who would teach him how to let go.
Welcome to Season 2 of Tough Talk, Going Deeper. These conversations are shared with the intention of breaking down the stigma surrounding men’s mental health. Psychologist Sam O'Sullivan discovers solutions by asking men to share their stories.
    Coming right up:
    - The first breakthrough Harlem experienced in therapy.
    - Tools that he discovered to deal with his anger and improve his relationships.
    - The story of Harlem’s transformation while collecting kaimoana alone during a stormy day.
    - The importance of getting out into nature to reconnect with our sense of purpose.
    - The strength it takes to get past judgement, follow our passions, and be authentic.
    - Plus so much more!

We get it, everyone is asking for money nowadays. So, why is Tough Talk worth donating to?
We aren't a big organisation, and so every dollar that is donated to us, goes straight into effective content and resources free for the community to use. We don't have organisational baggage. We don't have to pay for HR meetings, health and safety, big fancy offices, staff, etc.
Curious about what costs us $6000?
Read at the very bottom for a transparent breakdown of our costs.
